Hmm, this game would have been really interesting to play. Shame it did get cancelled, but I'm okay with the decision, we would have never have had Origins and Legends.

What makes you think that having this game would mean Ubisoft would never release Origins?

Because that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Maybe this is just THEdragon being THEdragon, but did anyone else notice the Musician's house in the Rayman Land pic? I guess it was likely he would have returned despite having seemingly been retconned out of existence.

EVERYTHING in Rayman Land is from a previous games. And yes, if you compare, it is definitely the Musician's house.THEdragon wrote:Maybe this is just THEdragon being THEdragon, but did anyone else notice the Musician's house in the Rayman Land pic? Yup, you can also see a living stone holding a flagpole and the photoboard of the photographer

Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
The concept art is full of neat little details that I've found. I was actually thinking about making a post on the forum about some of the more interesting things I've found.
Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
I noticed the Magician's house as well. I can't seem to find any R3 references though?
Reboots while the series is still active tend to be not as major as something with a big gap between it. I imagine R4's "reboot" would simply have meant rethinking some elements of how Rayman plays, the Glade looks, etc, just a fresh restart for a somewhat inconsistent trilogy.
RO basically took the place as R4 as the Rayman reboot - or at least, I can't imagine Ancel deciding to scrap everything away and create such a massive reboot if the series was still going on and making profits.OCG wrote:Bradandez wrote:Hmm, this game would have been really interesting to play. And what makes you think that making this game would have not prevented Origins/Legends from being made?OCG wrote:Bradandez wrote:Hmm, this game would have been really interesting to play. Shame it did get cancelled, but I'm okay with the decision, we would have never have had Origins and Legends.

@Keane Was Origins really a reboot? I always sorta seen it as a revival that connected both universes of Rayman 1 and 2 & 3.

Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
Origins is a "reboot" in that it started the series back up again. It's pretty clearly a sequel, there's a few references to previous games.
Honestly, if Rayman 4 did come out, Origins COULD still exist... but in a very different form, and probably in a much more complex form as well.

Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
Well, it was denied in interviews of the time the fact that Origins was a reboot. You can still see there's a connection with previous games.
Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
True. Origins is not a reboot in any way. Reboot would mean erasing all previous traces of games and change the story how Rayman came into existence. Origins kept traces of previous games and game did not do anything radical in story either. Game just starts off with Rayman and friends sleeping
Doesn't seem like a reboot to me at all.

Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
You know what i'm glad Rayman 4 got cancelled, i just don't like the idea of a Rayman Reboot...
Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
Guys, don't forget they were concept arts, they might be impressive, but would the developpement studio be able to make all this into game? And if Phoenix Studios biggest game was Rayman 4, they did nothing really big and their dev skills might not be very good then :/
But I'm sad it got cancelled :/

In order to give an honest answer to that question I'd need to know what 3D Rayman games would have been realized in that alternate timeline.incognito wrote: That would be really that bad ?

I am kind of... glad... this got cancelled...
I really think the concept is very cheap and it may as well have been the end of Rayman...

Re: Unseen64 to detail new revelations about Rayman 4!
This game would be awesome if released but perhaps instead of reboot they could have made it into non-canon spinoff?
Ah well now this all means nothing since game will never be made.

Answer that to question of your's is yes certainly, answered hopefully.incognito wrote:That would be really that bad ?

Also, I'm seeing a lot of disliking for the plot. I can see why, it would have ruined the magic of the games, which I get. The Rayman franchise isn't meant for being self-aware, I'm all for that type of humor but Rayman games just don't fit it. Looking at you Rayman 3.
