Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Yesterday both me and my friend upgraded our laptops to Windows 10 and we are now experiencing some problems with Rayman 2 and 3.
Rayman 2:
For my friend when he sets it to use nGlide it seems like the game is runnign faster than it should. When he instead sets it to DirectX6 there are graphic problems and the game looks VERY strange.
Rayman 3:
For me I am experiencing about the same missing textures problem as I did before I turned of TnL, but they are not as many (but still noticeable). For my friend, who never had any problems with the TnL, it looks fine.
Does anyone know any solutions to these problems? Would really like to be able to play Rayman 3 again

Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Downgrade to Windows 7, or switch to linux.
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Rayman 2: Open nGlide Settings and set the refresh rate to 120hz.
Rayman 3: Can you tell me your graphics card is?

Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
While I didn't have problems with R2 on my Windows 10 OS, I'd recommend downgrading to 7 for retro gaming, but still have Windows 10 as a secondary (or primary) OS on another hard drive.
Windows 8 and 10 just aren't ment for older titles.

Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Rather than having two versions of windows, Wine supports many retro games, and the virtual machine is a very good option.
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
I've been using my laptop as a test subject since I use it for occasional use, but mostly for basic needs and while the normal software works fine under Windows 10 (although one or other I had to reinstall because it was giving some wierd errors) few of the retro games I've tried suffered a massive FPS drop and apparently I am not the only one complaining: https://www.google.pt/search?q=windows+ ... If I were you I would stick around with Windows 7 for a good while more. My main machine, a desktop, is running on Windows 7. I think I'll have some trouble upgrading it because I love this OS. As for Windows 10, although it has got neat stuff like multiple desktops (Linux was doing this for years though) I am not quite a fan of the tiles à la Windows 8. Microsoft also promissed security updates until 2020 so there is no hurry.

Which games? I happen to know of a fix for some DirectX 6 games but it is a pain to do because you have to apply it to each game individually with different files for each game.
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Hopefully all these Windows 10 issues will be fixed by Microsoft by the time I get new PC
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
Rayman 2: I tried it and it didn't work. Also, in the GXSetup DirectX is not listed as an option anymore, but as I choose it before I upgraded to WIndows 10 it says I choose DirectX in the ubi.ini file and it works fine. Not really related to the problem I guessRibShark wrote:Rayman 2: Open nGlide Settings and set the refresh rate to 120hz.
Rayman 3: Can you tell me your graphics card is?
Rayman 3: Intel
While I did like Windows 7 better than WIndows 10 there are some things I want that only work with windows 10 so I would like to keep it. In worst case I can go back to Windows 7 I guess.Haruka wrote: If I were you I would stick around with Windows 7 for a good while more. My main machine, a desktop, is running on Windows 7. OK, didn't realise it was you I was talking to on GOG. Anyway, the problem you are having is different then what I assumed. The textures for Rayman 3 are not invisible, just black, and I have only heard of this problem one time before. I *may* have a fix incoming, but I cannot guarantee.

I guess that it was a wise decision not to uprgade to Win 10 just yet or until Win 7 is being supported that is.

Yeh it was me on GOGRibShark wrote:OK, didn't realise it was you I was talking to on GOG. Anyway, the problem you are having is different then what I assumed. Edit: Forgot to mention that the textures are sometimes shown in game when I look at them from a certain angle
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
You can try this:
1. Download this file.
2. Place the file (d3d8.dll) you just downloaded into the same folder as Rayman3.exe.
3. In ubi.ini, make sure TnL is turned OFF (0).
Run the game, hope it works.
BTW, anyone with any sort (invisible textures, stretched textures, colours instead of textures, orange flashes) of graphical problem should try this.

What/where is ubi.ini and what/where is TnL? And how can i turn TnL off?
Thanks for help! =)
Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
There are 2 ubi.ini files depending on version and if you run as admin or not. Here are the two locations:FloLee wrote:RibShark wrote:You can try this:

C:\Users\-USERNAME-\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Ubisoft
C:\Windows\Ubisoft
To turn of TnL you simply change the 1 after TnL to 0

Re: Problems after upgrading to Windows 10
I tried the recommended solution that was posted by RibShark, but it didn't work for me. I have Windows 10 Home. I placed the file in the same folder as Rayman3.exe and edited the ubi.ini in the Windows/Ubisoft folder with TnL=0. I didn't have a second ubi.ini file in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows folder (no Ubisoft folder there).
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Thank you.
