Re: Doctor Who
Right, first episode's aired. Just as a bit of forewarning, seeing as there's some new faces since the last time we had a run. Please use the spoiler set-up we have when discussing episodes, since members won't necessarily view episodes at the same time, we don't want to unnecessarily spoil things for each other.
To do spoiler tags:

Highlight to see the text.
So, here we are with Series 9. And what a start. One non spoilerific whinge though, I really don't like how the titles are still out of sync, it bugs me. The theme is supposed to sync up with certain bits of the sequence, as you can see:
Petty whining aside, let's start talking.
[So, the Magician's Apprentice. Weird name, not really sure it's the most relevant title, but meh. Let's get to the meat.
So, Davros is back. It was actually rumoured beforehand, but I forgot completely when I watched. It's the same actor as the fellow from Series 4. Incidentally, anyone recognise that music from when Skaro was unveiled? Also, rather nice callback to the Genesis of the Daleks. If memory serves, they did state that their weaponry was regressing over time, so the mix between lasers and old bows and arrow seems relevant.
Also, Skaro. Last time it appeared was in Asylum of the Daleks, it was a complete ruin that time. Wonder how they got it up and running. Also, much like Asylum, multiple Dalek designs. Kinda curious asto why that is, not complaining, as it's rather neat to see multiple 'uns again, but still, curious. I regret reading up on rumours though, as soon as it was implied that they were on a planet, it gave it away to me.
Then we had Missy and Clara. I personally find them to be a better duo than Clara and the Doctor, perhaps the bickering from Series 8 is still lingering on me. Missy did seem to behave a little less insane this time, and was far more refined, which I preferred. Both got exterminated, alongside the TARDIS, into thin air. They aren't dead, I'd imagine.
And we have a nice cliffhanger, so nice to see one of those in a normal episode again.

Re: Doctor Who
Not entirely sure what you mean by out of sync, but besides that...
[That was some episode to set the mood wasn't it. I mean, not a lot happened, until the ending that is. I really liked the fact both Missy and Clara died. I absolutely hated them anyway. Now we just need a new Doctor and we're all done

Re: Doctor Who
In more recent episodes, the theme tune starts slightly earlier than the sequence itself. Meaning that bits like the whirring sound when the spiral clock is revealed, or the oooweeooo happening just as it begins to unwind, or the bit of the theme that always plays when the logo appears, don't play at those points. It's me being a bit obsessive, I admit.

Re: Doctor Who
[More Missy! \o/ This character is nice. Although I'm not fond of way killing people become a gag around her. I don't have problem with that kind of violence in other series, but in DW, where there's always be a message about compassion and non-violence, it bugs me to see random characters dying without ceremony just to show that a character is evil. :/
Aside from that, good episode. Some funny moments, and the end is sure interesting. Cliffhanger a little bit frustrating, but… Yeah, I want to see where it goes.]

Re: Doctor Who
[I'm agreed there, The Master/Missy tends to be less of a cold-blooded individual and more Machiavellian. But I'm not complaining too much given that she's not been as off-kilter as she was in Series 8. I thought they overdid it there.]

Re: Doctor Who
[Mmm, I quite liked the way Missy killed those Snipers actually, didn't think too much off it. As of Clara and Missy's death, they're not dead. I'm pretty sure the ending was supposed to hint at the fact the Doctor is trying to change time to get them back. I mean, we all know this is Jenna's last season, but I'm pretty sure she's made it through at least episode one]
Re: Doctor Who
[Yeah, cause it's her last season I genuinely thought that was her dead for a second, but I was like "Oh, that's not right that was an un-satisfying death" :/ .]

[But wait, it wouldn't work, because she jumped into the Doctor's past, not his future, that's how she was able to keep dying. Also, Missy died so... :S]

Re: Doctor Who
[ didn't she jump into every possible outcome including past present and future?]
