Out of the question, the reason the game uses always online DRM, which is what it is, is because its all linked back to microtransactions, if saves were stored on your device instead of Ubisofts servers then the microtransactions would be pointless since people could just modify their save files to give themselves as many gems as they see fit, potentially losing Ubisoft a shit ton of money. Which adventure your on doesn't matter either since you cant go back to pdevious adventures to play the ldvels in them, so losing how many adventures youve completed doesn't change anything, unless your a filthy bragger.
To be fair to Adventures, I think its fine for it to use alway on, in fact free to play games are the only other game type besides MMOs were I think its completely acceptable to use always on DRM. The problem then is when shit like this happens, when Ubisofts servers die, and that money you spent on gems suddenly vanishes deeper into Ubi's wallets with you having nothing to show for it. Im sure they're trying to restore lost gems as fast as they can, but if all they end up doing is giving a specific ammount of gems to everyone to say sorry without actually restoring the gems, while nondoubt it will keep people who haven't spent a penny happy, players who lost more gems than a gift of apology could restore its probably gonna cause them to leave the game, which will probably lose Ubisoft even more money because they were likely playere who were actually spending money.
Im pretty sure Ubisoft understands this though, and considering it hasn't happened yet I doubt it will so they probably are restoring lost gems, however considering Ubisoft was one of the first companies to use always on in a non mmo title, back when the first Assassin's Creed came out, you'd think they'd be better prepared by now. Personally I think they should be backing up each individual save file hundreds of times a day, so when main servers do die, restoring saves should he quick and painless. Maybe Im not giving them enough credit, maybe this is whats happening, its almost certainly easier said than done, but its just a thought.
