I'm getting a "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." error when I go to run the game. I have a feeling it's probably a mistake on my part but I'm not sure what.

It seems I'm not the only one who have problems with this fangame, save state is corrupted even emulators aren't working like that if someone saves the game.

No it's like emulator don't treat this literally.It's about save states about this fangame not emulator pc dosbox or epsxe for original rayman 1.This fangame from game maker is malfuntioning in overworld/hub-world save state magic hat.

Are you running the game as an administrator? Also, make sure that the game is not located in an usb or an external hardware. And ofc, what's your os?
You do not need an emulator to run the game.
EDIT: You might also want to check that your antivirus is not blocking the game. That sometimes happens with Game Maker games.

I really can't tell what's the problem with your saving, gamerz31w. Can you guide me through step by step what happens when you try to save and load your game?

I'll try again.When I'm saving and I quit the game to main menu i select play and in both save states it don't load the game.I understand Jazz Jackrabbit 3 can't save and load game because this game is very old,but this fangame?

I found the problem, it was Avast! blocking it without telling me.

I made the folder containing the game an exclusion to Avast's file scanner, and now it works. I've only played a couple of levels so far, and I really like it!
(I especially like the way Rayman practically EXPLODES when he dies!)

There's lack of hanging and tongue skills.Btw hd remake of old 2d games makes game maker more buggy.

I just defeated the Savage Minion last night, now I'm onto the Tropical Isle. I feel a bit sorry for the livingstones there, I feel a bit bad when I punch them, hehe. And I encountered the shopkeeper too, I remember a long time ago I reacted strangely to seeing him in the videos for some reason.
