Rayman continuation, any news?

During the development of Rayman Origins, Michel Ancel confirmed in an interview that a new 3D Rayman platform game was planned. In another interview which took place in December 2011, Ancel reiterated this, and hinted that the new game may be based on the Rayman 4 prototype that was cancelled in 2006.[3] It is not clear whether the game will still feature the Rabbids, despite the lengths the developers have gone to in order to separate the two series, or if the game will be reworked to feature different enemies.

They were working on a 3D Rayman game after they just finished development on Rayman Legends/a bit after Rayman Legends was just released. But the project ended up being cancelled.

1) This info came from the History of Rayman book.
2) There is no more info on this.

They already had a playable open world prototype, according to what is said in the book.

Okay, I knew about the cancelled game after RL, but this information is new. I really would love to see pictures of the prototype, but I guess it never will happen.

Mhh, sounds strange, but wasn't the scrapped Rayman 2000 in the Rayman 3 chapter of the book?
I found long time ago someone who worked on Rayman 3. Since Rayman 2000 was scrapped and possibly meant to be the Rayman 3 we know today, could this picture I found long time ago, be from Rayman 2000?



Just wondering? I know it said Rayman 3, but it could be actually from the scrapped 2000 game which later was Rayman 3. What do you think?

I don't think Rayman 2000 was an open world, I remember reading somewhere that it was a sequel to Rayman 2, and that would make sense with what the R3 dev said: they took Rayman 2 engine and kept making it better and better.
And the image is probably from Rayman 2000 project since dev started on 2000/2001

Nope I'm talking about the 3D Rayman game cancelled in 2013.
