What games are you currently playing?

Now I'm playing a bit of Shovel Knight.

I unlocked new icons today on Geometry Dash.

I've almost 100%'d Legends now, this run overall made me like the game a ton more and it's been a while since I've been hooked to a game for so many hours straight.

I'm probably gonna go a second run of Mario Galaxy 2 when I beat RL, I've never actually played it since the release.

I'm currently playing openRCT2, every rollercoaster I build is too instense. wtf

Building coasters is surprisingly complex, and I don't think the game ever actually teaches you how any of it works either. If you don't wanna learn about lateral G's and spirals and whatever bullshit I'd just turn "Guests ignore intensity ratings" in the cheats menu and have them go on your 537mph satan coaster.

Well I just build some more coasters to learn how it works and I learned three things:
1. don't build curves with high speeds
2. don't build curves with high speeds
3. don't build fucking curves with high speeds

So I got the hang if it now
Now there's the problem that the rollercoaster is so hot that most rides are left forgotten xD

I pre-ordered Rollercoaster Tycoon World because of my dedication to the series, but not only did I miss the beta weekends, it looks like it's going to be awful. It was supposed to release in December, but it's not even close to completion. The water effects are so unnecessary; I recognised it as an $80 add-on from the Unity asset store they must have bought and lazily stuck in.

I'm a little skeptical of World, mostly because of the 4 Mobile and 3D were both a fiasco and that I just don't really trust modern day Atari with delivering a faithful game when they've been spiraling down into shit for years. It really shouldn't be hard to make a proper new RCT game, but it's just a matter of whether there's actual effort going in or if it's just a cash-in title.

The last game I played is Portal 2. I finished a community map called "001".

The first one probably suffers a lot from the sharp turns. On that last drop before the end the drop immediately goes over into a turn, but the game really dislikes sharp turns for some reason. The turns themselves should probably also be curved at all times unless the coaster isn't going fast, curves help smooth turns out a lot.

For example, the curved turns on this one


The second ride doesn't suffer from the intensity rating too much because loops help raise the excitement rating and also absorb a lot of speed making the final turn pretty slow, but the nausea rating must be pretty fucked up.

I should also point out that longer coasters will almost inevitably have high intensity ratings, but that doesn't necessarily matter as long as the excitement ratings top it. Here's mine so far:


Both Shirewood and Excalibur are extremely popular and never have an empty spot in the line. Serpent suffers more from the intensity and usually only has its line quarter/half full.

And finally, adding scenery like buildings/trees, and other rides around the coaster can also up the excitement rating.
