Is it at all possible to play Rayman 3 with out the CD. Will I have to download something or change some commands?

You can try Alcochol 120% and make an image of your CD, to your HDD with a proper profile of protection of the game there, and then mount image. You can choose options of launching it with OS.
If you have installed game from all CD's, you can use crack, so called NO-CD patch, though - legality.
GOG version works without CD.

exactly you can use daemon tools and utorrent to download gog.com version from kickasstorrent to avoid payment for gog.com platform service to download and install this game.

It's not really that what I meant. It's still legal when you do backup of your physical copy in any way, and then mount it in DT or Alcochol.

I have got a No-CD patch that works like a charm as I have the retail version. GOG also works out.
