He used most of the artwork that I built.... and most of the info that I added to the wiki (given from Droolie, of course).

and none of the stuff we found on unlockray was credited (and like I have put several good infos about scrapped story which he didn't even talked about)sergiomonty wrote: He used most of the artwork that I built.... and most of the info that I added to the wiki (given from Droolie, of course).

Why did they cut her out? Man, the more nymphs, the better.

One of the nymphs should've been Ly.

Re: Rayman Origins
A better question is, why the heck did they cut the Magician's storyline? removing the origins part of the game wasn't lame enough?
Re: Rayman Origins
From what I've "heard" from "sources", the Devs wanted to focus more on the gameplay and the story was getting depressing to work on, meaning the story was just too difficult to work with and just very draining.

Well at least he's not asking (is he?) for money regarding informations that of which only scraps were found with personal investigations and 75% was simply lifted off from this place.GOT4N wrote: and none of the stuff we found on unlockray was credited (and like I have put several good infos about scrapped story which he didn't even talked about)
Re: Rayman Origins
Seriously, what kind of story where they thinking about? When I watched the Beta Trailer for Origins I though it could have been a story similar to Rayman 3. I though it was going to be as "light" and funny as possible. I understand that they wanted to show the Magician's past and him being bullied from other creatures and taking revenge, but I didn't think it would come out this depressing and hard.Bradandez wrote: the Devs wanted to focus more on the gameplay and the story was getting depressing to work on, meaning the story was just too difficult to work with and just very draining.

Re: Rayman Origins
Maybe they wanted to pull a Sonic'06, but realized their own limits before it was too late. The planned episodic structure kind of confirms it.Yharu wrote: Seriously, what kind of story where they thinking about? Don't you mean Sonic 4? Not sure how 06 fits in there.

By trying to be extremely ambitious, but ultimately failing because of the sheer amount of pressure that was getting onto the developers.Master wrote:Don't you mean Sonic 4? Not sure how 06 fits in there.
Origins's development resources were shifted before the crack could have happened.
Sonic 4 was an almost straight ripoff from the very first Sonic game while Origins is a solid experience on it's own, which VAGUELY incorporates elements from earlier Rayman games.
Re: Rayman Origins
yeah about the story that was me who said this on ulr topic, each storyboarder started to "depress" because of the story, and little by little the game turned to a speedfest, that's what the dev told me ^^sergiomonty wrote:A better question is, why the heck did they cut the Magician's storyline? removing the origins part of the game wasn't lame enough?
Nah, he's not asking for money, actually I was just stupidSpyroGuy wrote:Well at least he's not asking (is he?) for money regarding informations that of which only scraps were found with personal investigations and 75% was simply lifted off from this place.GOT4N wrote: and none of the stuff we found on unlockray was credited (and like I have put several good infos about scrapped story which he didn't even talked about)
But yeah he's a nice guy, definitely nicer than the guy from Rayman 4
Re: Rayman Origins
I watched the video yesterday and could conclude he did his homework... in RayWiki/RPC's manual.

Re: Rayman Origins
Looking back at Rayman Origins, I think the whole script is absolutely awful. Don't get me wrong, I liked the game a lot. It has great gameplay and level design, gorgeous art, and even a few poetic areas, like the Desert of Dijiridoos or the Angsty Abyss. But the script is really what drags it down and makes it so much less memorable.
For a start, the original idea of the Magician becoming evil (and a Teensy
) ruins more of Rayman's universe than it brings to it, just like his creation by the nymphs. At some point in the development of the game, they probably realised that their story wasn't worth a dime and they proceeded to remove dialogs; unfortunately, it was certainly too late to restart the script from scratch and that's how we ended up with this shabby, incomprehensible ersatz of a pantomime punctuated by cringeworthy cries in the most annoying pseudo-language of all times: pig latin. Seriously, whoever thought that a way of talking that never made anyone laugh past first grade was a serious replacement for Raymanian (or an actual language) should never be allowed to lay hands on a creative project ever again.
As lead writer and story designer, I would assume that Gabrielle Shrager is mostly to blame for this fiasco, but her work may have been hindered by decisions from higher up. Not that it matters anyway, whoever's responsible for it, they've done a great job at ruining an otherwise awesome game.

Re: Rayman Origins
I told it once on ULR topic, from what a dev told me, game was supposed to be much more deep in terms of story, it was supposed to be more RPG oriented, with powerups you could buy etc, but writers started to having a more and more frustating time to write story, so they gave up each after each. Finally, the game slowly turned to a speedfest and script was much less workedHunchman801 wrote:Looking back at Rayman Origins, I think the whole script is absolutely awful. Re: Rayman Origins
I pretty Much agree with this. The game was still good and it was a good return for Rayman himself, but looking at it with a bit older eye, I have to say that I would nave really enjoyed a good, deep story.

Re: Rayman Origins
Or an extremely basic, almost absent story, like in the original game. But not this half-assed attempt, really.Yharu wrote:I pretty Much agree with this. Re: Rayman Origins
I actually think Origins' story is better than Legends' story.
