I feel the same. I think Uncharted 3 lacked the direction of Bruce Stanley (directed UC2 and Last of us). Luckily, UC4 is directed by himself and Neil Druckman, so the story and pacing feel a lot better imo. I felt like there were influences of The Last of Us in UC4 too, which is cool.

Just got Final Fantasy X/X-2 on STEAM. It's been a LONG time since I've played this (got really close to beating HD PS3 version but for some reason, I stopped playing).

So this will be my second attempt. My summer classes start soon so hopefully they won't get in the way.

"No, John... YOU ARE THE DEMONS!
And then John was a zombie!"

I got DOOM 4/2016 yesterday, and only 2 levels into the campaign, this is shaping up to be my game of the year, its a fantastic old school shooter, and a proper one at that, levels are massive maze like labrynths, the second level, which had 8 secrets, took me over an hour to beat, the weapon/armour upgrade system - which grsnted are the most modern element- encourages exploration and it feels very metroid like actually, this is what I imagine an action heavy metroid prime would play like and it is bloody excellent, there are even optional data logs and codex entries yo read if you really want to. everything about the game is excellent, except the multiplayer which is a big resounding meh, but DOOM has always been a single player series to me, and I can't stress enough how fantastic the single player here is.

Doomguy mk.3, as i call him, is hilarious, using just his fists to express just how he feels, and it's usually extreme unprejudiced rage, his response with the few survivors talking to him over voice comms and monitors tends to be him destroying whatever theyre using to communicate.

Then theres snapmap which ive played around with a little, it seems simple enough to make a ldvel fairly easily but deep enough for someone who wants to how the map plays to the most minute details, in theory its possible to even make a DOTA style gamemode with snapmap.

This game is wonderful so far, It actually makes me kinda sad since Bethesdas paranoia caused the marketing for this game to be so bad, I just hope people are able to see past the pr disaster and actually give the game a shot, from my first impressions I thoroughly reccomend it!

Hmm, I've never played a Doom title, seen them in action, but never played it for myself.

Looks like I might have to give it a shot, I saw you also uploaded some throwback levels of Doom 4 on your channel. Looks very impressive indeed.

Yeah the classic maps are part of a game long easter egg, in the normal campaign levels there are hidden levers that open secret doors, inside these doors are small portions of classic levels, finding these actually lets you play the full level from the main menu.

I spent almost all of yesterday in snapmap, building a ctf variant that uses team fortress style classes, haven't gotten any proper gameplay but I did make a showcase video for it.

Hmm, it comes with a map making tool? Quite fitting with the Doom spirit, isn't it?

To be honest, you've convinced me. I actually would really like to get it, unfortunately, my laptop isn't that powerful, maybe when I finally am able to build a rig in a few years from now. For now, I'm becoming curious about map making, sounds like a fun little side project to get into, maybe I should take a gander at some of the tools for the games I have.

Just beat Mad Max. Really fun game! Only major issue is its overabundance of side content, often made mandatory to progress in the story.
The Steam version is only £5.49 on Cd Keys.com which is an amazing price, considering it was only released at the end of 2015.

Finally beat Final Fantasy X HD. 54 Hours in, I'm not use to RPG's being so long (can't wait to play Persona 4, lol). The game was great and definitely one of my favorite FF titles. Tidus is a little annoying, but the supporting characters have really memorable and unique personalities. The story is pretty epic too imo. I dunno when I'll start Final Fantasy X-2 but not anytime soon while I'm going through summer classes.

How did you kill [Spherimorph]? I’ve had trouble with that part.

You're stuck on that? It's easy. Whatever element he uses, use whatever element that opposes it with Lulu. He'll keep switching elements constantly so it can be annoying and you'll never know what element he has until he hits you with it.
(example: If he uses ice, use fire.)

No problem, you've got a long way to go so keep going! The story gets more awesome the closer you reach the end.

I played through Child of Light recently and thought it was amazing. I'd played the demo a few years back and thought it was pretty bad, so it was a pleasant surprise that it turned out to be such a gem. Great art, great music and while the story is light it's not bad either. Definitely one of my favorite games in recent years. It's a shame it was so rushed and many parts of the story, especially toward the ending, were cut.
I'm playing Final Fantasy Type-0 now and I think I'll just stop playing if it continues to be this bad.

I've been getting back into Skyrim lately. I still find that the quests and characters are fairly mundane and lackluster compared to Oblivion, but exploration and combat are fun.

Heard about that one a bit. Was planning on getting it on PC but I've heard it was pretty mediocre from FF fans. How come?

It's much like FFXIII in that it starts you off in a world full of crazy terms ("Rubicus", "Agito", "Phantoma", that kind of stuff. Even "l'Cie" is back) and almost none of those terms are actually explained throughout the game. There are 13 main characters which at first you don't know anything about and have no reason to care about at all. 11 out of 13 characters do not have any backstory whatsoever, and do not get any story during the game - or at least not before chapter 5 (out of 8 ), which is where I'm at now.

On top of that, the storytelling is disjointed and takes place in optional "events" that you can complete in the limited free time between missions. Time only counts down when you talk to people or initiate cutscenes that tell you more about the story, or when you leave the main city to do sidequests (which are limited to "defeat X monsters of type Y before the next mission"). Most events disappear the next day, so you are actually forced to skip part of the story because you don't have enough time to complete them all. Like Majora's Mask, if you will, just without the ability to go back in time. For example, if you have 12 hours of free time, you can only talk to 6 people, because every time you talk to someone you lose 2 hours of your time.

The action gameplay is pretty clunky and has many of the problems that the FFXV demos have (I don't know if you played them?), in regard to holding buttons to attack instead of pressing, lock-on problems, camera problems, unresponsive controls and not hitting enemies due to weird/slow fighting animations, and so on. (In that sense, I guess I don't really have faith in FFXV.)

Finally, the art is mediocre as well. Environments still feel as empty as on PSP, but that was to be expected. However, the HD version also partly destroyed the art style of the original by using a brighter color palette. The music is alright - not very good but not not bad either. All in all, it just feels made for mediocrity in every regard.

Despite all that, it's actually not a terrible game... but there are much better games you can get even at $1.

Yeah, I stopped playing Type 0 after like the first chapter. The purchase was kinda worth it for the FF 15 demo, I guess....
