Hunchman, do you have some kind of post per second number or at least how many hours it took to accumlate enough posts for first place?Hunchman801 wrote:A top 5 spot is hard to come by nowadays! But I wish you luck.

How am I ever supposed to beat my record from last year O.o

Why be top 5 when you can be 9th place?Hunchman801 wrote:A top 5 spot is hard to come by nowadays! But I wish you luck.

At the end of a Record Day, there's a tally, the end results are published, as you can see:Lochy wrote:Hunchman, do you have some kind of post per second number or at least how many hours it took to accumlate enough posts for first place?Hunchman801 wrote:A top 5 spot is hard to come by nowadays! There's more, but that's as far as I can be bothered to retrieve. As you can see, lots of posts can be made. You'll notice that my post average is 24 ppd, despite the fact that I haven't made that rate of posts for quite some time. Events like these tend to cause that metric to skyrocket, if you post as crazy as some folk (including myself) have done in past years. Folk who post at the top tend to be active for the whole thing, and get the all-nighter badge of honour, of sorts.
During the event, there's a notice on the top of the board which shows your total post count, and the total post count for everyone overall. The goal is to try to make enough posts to beat the previous year's total, thus far, we've managed to do so consecutively for over 5 years. This year though, I'm kinda curious, since we hit a major high of about 30k last year.
Yeah, I'm kinda wondering about that meself, crazy amount of posts needed on my end.Imco wrote:How am I ever supposed to beat my record from last year O.o

I really hope this is done on a saturday or sunday. I really don't want to be in work while this happens.

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
No worries, it happens on Saturdays. Though bear in mind that it usually starts 00:00 UST, so it may be that it starts on Friday depending on where you're located.

I am located on the East Coast. So Eastern Standard Time. I will be in work from 6pm to midnight.Master wrote:No worries, it happens on Saturdays. Though bear in mind that it usually starts 00:00 UST, so it may be that it starts on Friday depending on where you're located.

Does the event last an entire 24 hours?
So do people just deprive themselves of sleep and post as much as they can? What's the strategy?

Reason: Try to refrain from double posting, you're free to ask another question in the same post.

Yup, one full day of posting.Lochy wrote:I am located on the East Coast. So Eastern Standard Time. I will be in work from 6pm to midnight.Master wrote:No worries, it happens on Saturdays. Pretty much, there tends to be some threads, such as the You Game, where new posts are always guaranteed. Then there's other game threads you can try out.Lochy wrote:So do people just deprive themselves of sleep and post as much as they can? What's the strategy?

Hmm, I will be at a trip on the 16th. I might have to sit this one out unless I get good reception on my phone

Hmm, I wouldn't be so concerned there, usually Record Day takes place early in the month, first or second weekend. I think you should be able to get in.

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
I, as the usual top place poster, made 5000+ posts in the last two years i've been at it. That means on average I make 208 posts per hour, or 3 and a half posts per minute. This does of course mean that you need to be there for the whole 24 hours (Including no sleep, excluding bathroom breaks and eating) and is not advised, partially the reason why i'm not feeling too up to it this year; because each time i've felt like actual death and despite glory it's not the nicest of feelings.Lochy wrote: Hunchman, do you have some kind of post per second number or at least how many hours it took to accumlate enough posts for first place?
As for the 16th i'm sure i'm away on holiday at that time but eh since i've already said i'm no going to be that involved.

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
Yeah, I've attempted all nighters before, but I've never managed it. One time I ended up falling asleep with my laptop on, I was fortunate that I didn't make any movements that could have damaged it. I'm probably going to try posting, but unless I'm feeling particularly awake, I'll probably not bother attempting an all nighter this time.
Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
Honestly I am getting use to staying up so I might pull an all-nighter.
If I can stay up til 2 am doing almost nothing then being on a computer or phone should be a snap.

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
I made the all nigher but I was disqualified because of someone asking me a movie I had to search in my house.
Motherfucker....

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
All-nighters are almost compulsory if you want to make it to the top 5. I haven't done one since 2013 apparently, but I know I'm finding them harder every year!
Coffee, energy drinks, sweet stuff and a good shower at some point usually help a lot. It's tough, but it's a lot of fun.

Re: Eleventh edition of the posts in a day record
Ah shit, I forgot my timezone always pushes it back to a friday, so I may have to give up a few hours at the beginning. I kinda like that though, there's always that one point when it hits around 7 AM in Europe and there's just a small sleep deprived crowd posting the most stupid fucking meme shit of the day.
I'll aim for 2k posts which'll be tight. 3.5 posts a minute doesn't seem that hard, though I think my speed was like 1-2 a min last year. What's the pro strat for speedy posting? I guess seeing how some people just hump TYG the entire time you could probably safely spam that thread without ever needing to check for double posts.

Hmm, this is quite worrisome, considering how much it'd take for us to get last years record beaten.Master wrote:Yeah, I've attempted all nighters before, but I've never managed it. That said...
MASTER, I challenge you for top place.

Unfortunately you can and some people did that but it's not much fun really.Keane wrote:What's the pro strat for speedy posting? I guess seeing how some people just hump TYG the entire time you could probably safely spam that thread without ever needing to check for double posts.
