Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Yes, I know, it's just kind of vague. We don't really know what it's referring to.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
These informations are really neat and it is strange I dreamed of beta stuff from Rayman 2 last night before seeing these informations. How did you got into the files and saw that? I am a beginner when it comes to find unused stuff in files.

I've been using some tools posted here which allow you to decode an .sna file (the file extension used for the fil containing all text in the game). I then tried it on the 2 demos and it worked there as well. The different demos are much more unorganized though, so it's harder looking through them (not to say the original .sna file was organized...).Miss-Cerasus wrote:These informations are really neat and it is strange I dreamed of beta stuff from Rayman 2 last night before seeing these informations. I've shown a bit more of the demo text If found in my Rayman 2 Unused Content video I just put together: https://youtu.be/bLh4-sk16o4

Btw, I had the chance to talk with a developper that worked on Phoenix Rayman 4, Rayman Raving Rabbids cancelled prototype AND RRR final!
Here what I gathered (this is for RRR final and prototype):
-The prototype was an open world adventure game
-It was cancelled because "it didn't convinced"
-It had worlds, dungeons
-Globox was supposed to be back
-Teensies as well, lums
-Plums were supposed to be back too
-The ambient was slightly mature, there were guns, grenades
-Rayman used his hand as a hook
-Each costume had a special ability
-With the bat, spider riding system, there was a flying scooter
-A lot of gameplay prototype elements were recycled into minigames (Bunnies don't know what to do with cow is an example, he told me it was from a gameplay in the prototype when Rayman had to turn around himself, throw a box, so it lands on an electric generator)
-A lot of the riding minigames codes were based on King Kong code
-There is an "ORC" in the top scores of each minigame of RRR, "ORC" was in fact a level designer for the proto, and he worked on KK, but then he got downgraded to playtesting, so he did crazy scores
-Minigames were poorly designed because the head office gave them designers that were sold as experts, but in fact they had just finished their degree

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Wow! All of this sounds really awesome and makes me all the more curious regarding what secrets the retail version can hold if the prototype assets were used for it. I always found the cemetery scenery WAY TOO solid as a level concept (not to mention that it keeps coming back time and again as a set piece in the minigames).
I have a feeling that the same applies to the missile shooting robo-rabbid-walker thing as well.
P.S.: How much do you want to charge us for this super-exclusive and almost unaccomplishable feat (simply asking a former dev about the game)?
(Sorry, I just couldn't help it. xD xD xD)

That'd be 10$ per question sir.
Seriously, the bat minigame where you need to collect pigs is by its internal name inspired from something in the proto (RIV_something)

Not really surprising…-Globox was supposed to be back
-Teensies as well, lums
-Plums were supposed to be back too
Glad this didn't happen tbh.-The ambient was slightly mature, there were guns, grenades
Again, not really surprising I guess.-Each costume had a special ability
A change resounding with such infuriating stupidity, yet I somehow remain apathetic.-A lot of gameplay prototype elements were recycled into minigames (Bunnies don't know what to do with cow is an example, he told me it was from a gameplay in the prototype when Rayman had to turn around himself, throw a box, so it lands on an electric generator)
Hihi, cool!-There is an "ORC" in the top scores of each minigame of RRR, "ORC" was in fact a level designer for the proto, and he worked on KK, but then he got downgraded to playtesting, so he did crazy scores
Excellent, now I have a legit reason to detest the game.-Minigames were poorly designed because the head office gave them designers that were sold as experts, but in fact they had just finished their degree
Thank you so much for finding this out, have some Tings.

lol yeah also ironic part: the dev told me his game is still in blister LMAOPluMGMK wrote:lolwutGOT4N wrote:-It was cancelled because "it didn't convinced"

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
"In blister"? Is that an attempt to translate slang for "pregnant"?
And what's wrong with my Tings?

"in blister" as of still lying dormant in an archive somewhere?
THEN WE MUST FIND IT!

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
In blister ?! RIP AND TEAR !!!!
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Wait how did you get the chance to speak to the developer?
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
These are all things that could be mentioned in the wiki page. Thanks for these informations!GOT4N wrote:Nice!!Carrot-master wrote:I've shown a bit more of the demo text If found in my Rayman 2 Unused Content video I just put together: https://youtu.be/bLh4-sk16o4

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Or in the documentary, too many things around here gets ignored.

Normally I'd say "He went under the table to grab a <<pen>>" but since it was clearly made with internet it can't be that.Greeness wrote:Wait how did you get the chance to speak to the developer?

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
The documentary discusses events to do with RPC, this sort of stuff is for the Wiki.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
However, the discoveries of such events should be included in my opinion, a single line would be enough.
