Been continuing SMT IV Apocalypse, and I've made a good deal of progress these last few weeks. Really loving the new villains introduced (Divine Powers), they introduce a REALLY interesting turn in the series. SMT IV introduced us to 3 alignments: Chaos, Law, and Neutral. Neutral of course, represented as not taking a stand to either extreme. Apocalypse however introduces a new kind of neutral, one of anarchy, where all gods and demons are rid of to create a new Universe. Both the Divine Powers and Dagda want to kill all gods to create a new Universe, but both have different outcomes. The Divine Powers wish to create a new Universe where they are on the same level as YHVH (God) and they can oversee everyone while offering all humans 'salvation' by having a giant snake serpent devour human souls to carry them to the 'new universe', while Dagda seeks to create a universe that everyone can return to some human form and rule over their own isolated universe. Both selfish reasons in their own right.

I really like this plot element because it adds a new layer to the alignments, it shows that even 'neutral' isn't always simply 'taking no sides' but can sometimes have their negative points. So yeah, story is badass so far, I'm REALLY loving the new characters in this game. Even previously introduced characters like Navarre who I hated in SMT IV are excellent in this game. Gameplay wise a lot has been fixed too, Tokyo is no longer a complete headache to navigate and that's a huge plus for me. Seriously, this is the best RPG on 3DS (so far even better than SMT IV), it has an incredibly epic story, with RPG gameplay that really makes you think strategically, and not be careless (demon fusing is also incredibly addictive and fun).

I got a ps4 a few days ago bundled with Uncharted 4, and so far I think this might be the best in the series so far. really loving it.

I'd heard that they really improved everything, glad to see that Atlus went all out on this one!

I started Brutal DooM Hell on Mars's realistic mode, I might regret it, I don't know how the final boss will be in this mode, I already fought it in Ultra-Violence, and it almost took my sanity to successfully beat him and return to earth.
So far I'm vulnerable with a full body armor and two imps' fireballs are enough to take me down, but they are more vulnerable too, I killed a demon with a punch and a kick.
Think, shoot, dodge, hold on ammo preciously, rip and tear.

Speaking about BG&E has anyone been able to play the pc version with a controller? I just can't stand playing it with a mouse and keyboard anymore (even though that was the way I initially played the game...).

Another id fan on the pc ? Aha !
If you loved the original quake you gotta try The Scourge Of Armagon, his expansion, with some little improvements brought to the game.
What are you playing the game with ? Darkplaces ?

We had a go at a few demos on the Playstation VR and not only did I actually survive more than I even did on the HTC Vive as it's definitely the most comfortable headset of the bunch, I really enjoyed the games I tried such as Until Dawn Rush of Blood (omg those pigs and clowns), Job Simulator (one of those very fun "dick around with objects" kind of games) and Thumper (straightforward, but very in your face if you make a mistake). Also watched friends play VR Worlds and lmfao the London Heist game.

Aye, Darkplace as an awful mod support and whenever you add anything it completely glitches the game making it impossible to complete without noclipping or removing your add-on.
In addition nothing worths the original one heh ? I think all attempts to replace the textures or add new textures looks bad, it is awfully dark and Ranger doesn't have a torch.

I am currently playing "Castlevania: Lords of Shadows"
though I really much rather the 2d games (super castlevania, symphony of the night etc) this is certainly one of the best 3d castlevania attepts we've gotten yet and is probably the only one I'm ever going to play.

I played Pepper Mayro Cucker Shit (funny title edit to make you xD, the real name of the video game, is, in fact, Paper Mario: Colour Splash! :noel:) and it's alright. Once you get into playing the actual levels I think there's enough to keep it fun and interesting, although the gameplay doesn't really have me as involved as older Pepper Mayro games have. There's a lot of little challenges and things which for the most part are all fun, and it all flows pretty well, but I haven't really felt like anything genuinely stood out about the gameplay.

==The Battle System Rant==
The battling is fucking terrible unfortunately, the time it takes to enter one to actually attacking is way too long, and I hate that even if I just gotta quickly get one more hit in to beat an enemy I still have to do the boring ass card selection thing. Even just the fact that "FIGHT" text has to appear on the screen each time you're ready, it's just another little delay that makes the battle system more about waiting than playing. Then the actual battling itself is mediocre too - Even regular cards are overpowered, blocking is easier than ever before, enemies are often beaten with one hit, and you never really run out of cards.

There are options in the settings to change the way it works, but it's picking your poison: One option lets you control with the buttons instead of scrolling with the touch screen (why is that a different setting and not just an option?), and the other lets you skip the painting aspect so you can just flip the card out right away (which kind of implies just how pointless and gimmicky it is). I don't get it, they won't have battles unless it's heavily dumbed down, they say they don't want Paper Mario to really be an RPG anymore - why not just make it an action-adventure game?

==Everything Else==
I really would've rather had the original aesthetic in an HD setting but seeing a literal interpretation of the pepper aesthetic has its charm and I like all the creative ideas they came up, but this needs to be the last one of that series. They've done the whole "Everything is made of arts & crafts so scissors are dangerous and you can stick to like, glue! ahhah" before and, y'know, whatever.

The writing is probably my favourite part of the game, it makes the generic characters a little more forgivable. Huey is a much better partner than Kersti, and I actually kind of like the idea of having a partner who's always commenting on everything.

The music so far is great and I can get behind the jazz/violin/band thing they're going with, but it's not really as memorable as TTYD's soundtrack or the N64 game. It gives the game kind of a happy-go-lucky tone which does fit Mario really well, but also kind of implies that the game will never try something else. I get the impression the whole game is going to have the same "feel" throughout.

=="Buhh nintendo sucks now all their games are shit the wii u is for BABIES"==

And that's a problem I have with this game, or a lot of Nintendo games right now. They don't seem to have any faith in their audience, and if just one thing might cause the player to be a little frustrated or they have to think a little more to grasp something, they don't want it. So you get games like 3D World with invincibility rewards for messing up too much, or dumbed down gameplay in Colour Splash. Huey can also give Mario advice which often just indirectly tells the player what to do. Don't give me a puzzle and then put half the pieces already in place for me.

And it's not just gameplay either, it's also the general presentation. Colour Splash is wacky, funny, and more wacky (no not in a Tido Dickman Origins kind of way). TTYD is funny and wacky, but it's also got moments where it'll aim for something a little more creepier or dramatic, or a t m o s p h e r i c. And I think kids like that better, I think they want to take the game seriously sometimes, feel creeped out, or like they're exploring somewhere mysterious. Games like Colour Splash don't do that, they just want to hold your hand and crack a joke. Even a ghost mansion level still has a "teehee! silly!" vibe to it - I think it's actually disappointing for kids to be hyped up with the idea that they're gonna explore this creepy place, and then they get there and it's just, kind of the same again.

There's nothing wrong with a game that just wants to be dumb fun, but that's not what Paper Mario is. Mario & Luigi does that, and it's fine, they can have a series that's that and another that takes itself more seriously, but instead Colour Splash seems to just be making the two more alike. Now we have two turn-based Mario games that want to be funny, wow pepper mario feels so unique and different unlike those old games1111111.

But anyway yeah, that's me spilling beans. It's a fun game that I think will make most of us happier than Sticker Star did, but fuck. It's yet another Nintendo series that's become a "kind of fun to play without really thinking much about it" thing, and the next gen seriously needs to step away from that. I don't want another Paper Mario without story, Yoshi's Island without clever level design, or 3D Mario without exploration. pleahs maek vidyo game GREAT AGAIn ok?

Hit the nail in the head. Yes, the main argument would be 'just avoid these things', but the option shouldn't be there to begin with.

I feel like most kids succumb to abusing that kind of free ticket to avoid the challenge, even the more dedicated ones if it gets frustrating. Which makes it feel like these games aren't designed to challenge and reward players, but rather just give them a constant flow of "hey look at this."

But the bigger issue I have with that thinking is that it seems to extend to the general gameplay as well. Colour Splash's battle system doesn't strike me as a redesign meant to change/innovate, but to simplify and dumb down to avoid challenging players and allow anyone to pick up and play with minimal effort. I really hope that if the Switch is going to embrace a more gamer-centric appeal rather than casual, that that also means an overhaul of their approach at the games themselves. Games like Colour Splash and 3D World feel like products of them trying to be too careful, too safe.

Fucking who thinks it's a good idea to make a Paper Mario game that doesn't appeal to fan demands, but instead aims to make itself more playable for your grandad or 5 year old son - neither of which bought the 12 copies the Wii U sold? The NSMB/Wii Sports era of Nintendo appeal was a temporary thing and they should aim at making themselves for gamers again rather than endlessly chasing that success again.

Been replaying a bit of Dead Rising 2 Off the Record but I've been doing co-op with Adsolution and I keep forgetting how much of a real blast this game is.

I'm playing LoZ Wind Waker on the dolphin emulator at 1080p, with a 16:9 hack and a high-res texture mod. Absolutely beautiful.

Can you post a screenshot for High-res texture mod? I'm very curious!
I played the game through Dolphin a while back. It's definitely the definitive way of playing the game and even better than the Wii U remake.
If only Nintendo released their games on PC.
