So the aspect ratio is also correct?

If anybody will look for video cutscenes in bik files to just play in VLC, here they are:

Yes, the videos should always play in 4:3 :D

Just information for VLC that VideoLAN devised to play bik files.

Here is nuts fake one;

I happened to download the latter one and got many problems in Internet Explorer 11 changed HP and garbage softwares downloaded.
Worst of it, bik file could not be played by this fake player !!
Oh my. I ran system recovery to wipe out all these garbages. Beware of fake VLC.

First of all: Thanks a bunch! The search for a widescreen patch has brought me to Pirate Community and this is my first post.
Thanks for the beautiful work itself as well!

So far, the only issues I encounter are animations that seem to be sped up. I will list them below. If you believe the cause must be something else than the patcher (Note that I haven't played Vanilla Rayman 3 on this setup before using Better Rayman 3!), please let me know and/or redirect me if someone has brought this up anywhere before. I have not been able to find similar entries.

ANIMATIONS SPED UP:
-agitated water
-gems rotating speed (I'm not positive about this)
-physics of plums (=kickings, bouncing off the ground)

ANIMATIONS SPED UP AFFECTING GAMEPLAY:
-scripted camera angles (the speed of the change makes it hard to counter-steer if desired. The change of the viewing angle happens uncomfortably snappy.)
-Rayman clinging to edges (jumping upwards from cliffhanging oftenly results into Rayman grabbing the edge again. So, it is hard to get him "let go" off the edge. This is a little hard to describe but I feel the timing of animations is to blame.)

This is an issue I've never heard before. I doubt anything that I have patched will affect speed, as I have only edited the subroutines for drawing 2D graphics and for playing video files. Would it be possible for you to record the animations that are sped up so I can compare it to on my computer?

Maybe I can find some time during the next days. I'll let you know. But like you said, I would doubt this has anything to do with the patch.

Please post details of your configuration. GPU, CPU, etc.
Your refresh rate, resolution. Maybe also config. Which version of R3 U use. GOG, retail. OS.
Whether drivers are updated and so on.

I don't know... Maybe
Go to %WINDIR%\Ubisoft\ and open Ubi.ini
Set TnL=1 to TnL=0

Or config is in the root R3 dir in case of GOG version (?)

Or change refresh rate.

Maybe also some DX wrapper would fix it.
Eg. Sweetfx.
Just download it, install without any preset.

I have updated the patch to fix some issues which made the game, at least for me, very annoying to play on PC. Both of these issues are in regards to the games framerate. The first issue is that, for some reason, when the game finds the frequency of your monitor, instead of just using that frequency to run the game at, it will first multiply it by 1.2. This meant that if vsync was disabled, the game would be running 1.2 times as fast as it should have been (as the delta timing used by the game is using the value before it had been multiplied). The second issue is that when the game detects it is running below the full framerate, it would have immediately cut the framerate in half. However, the delta timing used by the game is still using the value of the full framerate, causing a very noticeable slowdown.

Both of these issues have been fixed with the latest update, and the game now feels very smooth (as smooth as say on GameCube, and more smooth than on HD). If anyone has any problems with this update, or the patch in general, feel free to post here and I'll see what I can do.

Wait, is that factor of 1.2 part of the game's normal operation? Or a side effect of running it in 16:9? Why would they do that?

It appears to be a correction for NTSC -> PAL that they fucked up somewhere along the line.

Is that the reason why the game used to flip-flop between 72 and 36 fps, as opposed to 60 and 30?

This is interesting.
So, the native framerate of the game is 60, not 72 ? The game isn't limited in framerate, but I know for a fact that some things do feel speed up when framerate goes above 100 fps, and some physics mechanics do break.

Only Ubisoft knows how to do sh*t like worrying about PAL --> NTSC conversion on a PC game.
And here we are 13 years later, and they still manage to pull more crap out of their hats.

Yeah, it does seem when the game runs at a faster FPS, the delta timing doesn't compensate as well as it should. I could force it to run at a constant 60 by patching it, but I'm not sure whether that's the right move here.

And yeah, I'm constantly surprised by just how strangely this game is programmed. No idea how they managed to think converting PAL to NTSC was a good idea for a PC game.

I guess it's a line in some code copied from an NTSC console version that nobody questioned.

Wow, I like this 2016-11-03 new patch using dll to manage all widescreen display even cut scene videos !!
I hope other Rayman 4:3 games such as Rayman 2 , M, and Arena can be worked for widescreen display using dll method without editing game exe files manually and cut scene videos for wide. All know that Rayman 2 Hor+ method for widescreen has some problem.
Please keep doing this good work.

I've never heard of an issue like that happening before. Could you try going to the folder "%APPDATA%\UbiSoft" and copying the "ubi.ini" file to "C:\Windows\Ubisoft"?
