I can't begin to fathom why this masterpiece is not included in the "your favorite version of rayman" poll

I don't understand how some of you voted for the PC version while musics on PC are just lame as fuck! Saturn/PS are the best versions by far! (Jaguar don't include ice mechanics and is pretty lame too ^^) Let's not talk about GBA/GBC. What's DSi?

PluMGMK wrote:Anyway, finally cast my vote in this poll. Despite the graphical and musical inferiorities, I have to go PC. Why? It's just more fun! The cage placements make me feel much more satisfied when I find them than in the other versions (even if I do basically know where they are already due to years of playing, but at this point I'd kind of forgotten anyway).

Re: Rayman 1
For some reason when I played the game when I was little the music didn't work at all, all you could hear was the sound effects. Even though the music is incredibly atmospheric, having no music in a game like Rayman also gave it a strange kind of atmosphere that me and my brothers found creepy but we still loved it.Jack l'escroc wrote:I don't understand how some of you voted for the PC version while musics on PC are just lame as fuck!
That's not why I chose the PC as my favourite version though, it's mainly because it was the only version I played and I think it looks best on a nice sharp monitor rather than a fuzzy TV. The music issues aren't too hard to fix anyway.

Ah, so that's why it had no music! I thought we just hasn't set it up properly or something.PluMGMK wrote:You had the Focus Multimedia Rayman Gold CD, right?
As someone who never knew it had music until years after I first played it, it was surprisingly effective and actually kind of worked with the game's theme well.

Now that's a badly glitched game. Never could be bothered to try it, but I didn't think it would be that bad.RibShark wrote:Oh, that version of Rayman 1 is the best! I did a speedrun of it once:

Yum, yum, gotta love me some delicious damage control.Hunchman801 wrote:Just like Ad, I disagree. Video games would suck if they all had the same gameplay.
I thought the reason why people hated the NSMB series was because it looked all plastic and generic, and never took a very creative direction other than the safe gimmicks that were already exploited in Super Mario World. Why are you guys assuming that suddenly the entirety of the game is worse than Rayman 1/Origins/Legends? lol. I mean, Mario games have neat controls and momentum-based gameplay. And let's be honest, it has better Co-op.

legends/origins also have "neat momentum-based gameplay" that takes more of a precedence than it does in NSMBsergiomonty wrote:I thought the reason why people hated the NSMB series was because it looked all plastic and generic, and never took a very creative direction other than the safe gimmicks that were already exploited in Super Mario World. I never liked the physics of Mario games much, so I think it's down to personal preference, and not just a fact as you're saying it.sergiomonty wrote:I mean, Mario games have neat controls and momentum-based gameplay.
Re: Rayman 1
Well, I only saw it because OCG retweeted it
Anyway, I can't wait for this to be released!

SHIT.
You press a trigger in Rayman, boom, you're suddenly running, with no increase or decrease of speed. the momentum of your jumps only matters if you're on a jumping spree which usually only matters in automatic runners like Rayman Adventures, or the challenge mode in Legends. Other than that, it's as basic as "just run to jump higher". Mario's speed is progressive, it starts slow and slippery, and then becomes a fast machine that can even cross gaps, not to mention that the NSMB series implements the triple jump, a thing that your dear baby Rayman doesn't have. Bitch you ain't gonna teach me about momentum in Mario games when I've spent 80+ hours on Mario Maker *sassy nigga finger wag*. You can learn a lot about actual platforming and momentum there. But nah, gotta have fun being a blind hater, amirite? Btw, how is Return of the Dark doing?
Re: Rayman 1
Bad presentation ruins good gameplay too, NSMB would've already been much more welcomed by fans if they'd at least taken the effort to give each title its own identity. NSMB2 has pretty good level design overall, but it's such a lackluster copy-paste game that I don't care. Yeah alright, they're decent games just solely looking at how it controls and plays, but does that really give you the incentive to drop 60 bux and play the whole thing?sergiomonty wrote:I thought the reason why people hated the NSMB series was because it looked all plastic and generic, and never took a very creative direction other than the safe gimmicks that were already exploited in Super Mario World. Origins/Legends have way better level design than any NSMB game, have fun playing your superior Mario controls in one of the many uninspired shitty NSMBWii levels.
Looks like Mario is getting pretty blown the fuck out, but he's still got that triple jump going for hi-oh wait, no, that actually does require Mario to gain speed to jump higher. Mario really is just Rayman's cucked little bitch.
