Re: Rayman Classic
I noticed something about the graphics in the Android port that needs to be mentioned and shows just how lazy this port really is, turns out this port is so lazily made, that Ubisoft didn't even bother implementing the parallax scrolling for the background objects, instead the whole background is just a static image (look at the green mushrooms in the first area of Pink Plant Woods as you go across the stage, and compare the Android version to almost any other version and you'll see exactly what I mean) making this to the best of my knowledge the first release since the original Jaguar version to not feature that effect which is complete BS when you consider the fact that this is supposed to be based off of the PC version which does have the background parallax scrolling (hell even the GBA version as compromised as it is has it so Ubisoft has no excuse for skimping out like this).
Re: Rayman Classic
Actally not all versions on PC have parallax scrolling, and those which do need to have it turned on in the settings. It was probably just because they based it on one of the earlier versions which had the intro that they didn't include the parallax scrolling.

Re: Rayman Classic
I'm pretty sure all PC versions have the parallax backgrounds, just disabled by default for some stupid reason.
Then I guess it didn't occur to them to provide a way to enable it on this port.

Probably for older computers to be able to handle it?PluMGMK wrote:I'm pretty sure all PC versions have the parallax backgrounds, just disabled by default for some stupid reason.
No news about the controller implementation either. At least there's Bluestacks to help me out but the game is unplayable in the real devices.
Re: Rayman Classic
the sound effects and the graphic quality confirm it wont be a psx/sega port, so im not interested, those were the best versions of the game
Re: Rayman Classic
The game just received its first update on iOS and... it didn't fix a single bug... Not even the one making the Breakout minigame more or less impossible to beat. The only new thing is a button which restores your in-app purchases, though there are no iap in the game... It's probably for an upcoming update I'd guess, hopefully something cool like the Rayman Designer levels. It could also be that the app will go free and you'll have to pay to get rid of ads or something.
Edit: Btw, while looking through the game files I found a few interesting things:
- There's mentioning of a cheat menu. I'd assume it was only there for testing though.
- All music is in a simple .mp3 format. The tracks are split up, unlike the PC version, which is why they appear like they do in the game. The PS1 versions songs are also there (like the loading screen music etc.) in an .mp3 format (and those songs are played in the game despite what some say).
- The Yeah sound from the Saturn version is oddly enough there, though not used in the game.
- The intro and outro files are .mp4 files. There's an HD and an SD version for both. The HD version is apparently in 720p which is odd. It's a bit blurry, so it may have simply been upscaled or something.
- AppJoy was mentioned in the files which seems to be some sort of advertising system. Perhaps the game will eventually become free with ads...
Well that's the only things I could see since the rest is in some weird .spd format I have now way of decoding. All the levels from the PC version are in the files and I didn't see any other ones there.
Edit 2: Well, now even the App Store page mentions it has in-app purchases...

Ya, I saw that before, except for AppJoyCarrot-master wrote:The game just received its first update on iOS and... it didn't fix a single bug... SPD files were used in an Assassins Creeds mobile game by Ubisoft too
Also the functions are unobfuscated in this version, but REing the iOS and Android is quite hard
Re: Rayman Classic
For those who haven't got it yet, Rayman Classic is free today on Android and iOS.

Re: Rayman Classic
Just turn off your wifi/mobile data and there should be no ads to be seen!
Re: Rayman Classic
That explains the "restore purchases option"... You can probably remove the adds from an in-app purchase.Drolpiraat wrote:For those who haven't got it yet, Rayman Classic is free today on Android and iOS.

Re: Rayman Classic
Indeed, it's on the main menu for £0.79.
Re: Rayman Classic
Downloading now!
Fuck ads.Drolpiraat wrote:... free with ads, apparently.
Re: Rayman Classic
Well, £0.79 is still considerably cheaper than the previous cost of the app. I'd say that's well worth it. I just wish they'd update the app and fix some of its issues.
Re: Rayman Classic
Is this their solution for the lack of physical controller support? Man, I don't know what to comment.
Re: Rayman Classic
This is their solution to not getting enough sales from the game.
Re: Rayman Classic
That too.

Re: Rayman Classic
Controllers work fine on iOS, is it only Android they don't work on?

Re: Rayman Classic
It appears that is the case, indeed.
I got Rayman Classic, and man, I've not died so much in Pink Plant Woods in years. I know touch controls aren't best suited to traditional platformers, but this felt particularly clunky.

Re: Rayman Classic
This is barely playable with touch controls.
Is the Android version ever going to get controller support?

Re: Rayman Classic
I sincerely doubt it.
