My sister told me that. I'm indifferent about it, since I know nothing about him.

I don't really know much about Fifo other than the missile crisis from a US perspective. Is he a bad person I should hate?
The_Real_Razorbeard wrote:The easiest solution is to simply not use the words that still have more inherent, targeted hatred perceived as being synonymous with them, whether they should or not.
The easier solution would be to stop being a cuckboy! No but seriously, to reiterate:
Keane wrote:lol what the hell? when did rpc shitposting become so foreign, you guys don't actually think we're channeling racism and autistic fits of rage over video game debate right?
It's the board culture, no one's going to bend over for the moral police because new members declare raymanpc an insult-free zone to blow bubbles. Like half the people here claim to be genuinely homosexual or autistic, the tone of the banter we exchange would've been washed out YYEEEEAAAAARSSSSS AGO if people had a genuine problem with it. You know how black people call themselves niggas?

Don't worry, I dislike Donald Trump too!
The_Real_Razorbeard wrote:Let's say you're right on this point: to an oustider looking in, none of that is apparent, especially when it's all just text. You could have 10 different people read those posts, and you'd likely get 10 different interpretations. A couple might agree with you, a couple might agree with me, and a couple more might think we're both idiots.
When you call someone a black autistic little bitch boy over their opinion of a video game, and the staff isn't interfering, you get the picture (as a matter of fact, staff actually do delete posts or serve bans for legitimate discrimination) If that's not your shtick, fine, but we're not going to adjust our speech to create a protective environment for anyone who might browse here, grow a spine. This isn't tumblr god fucking sjws!!!! :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

Besides, we have a pretty varied crowd posting here most of whom just ignore (a much better solution to the problem!) what they don't care about. That's one of the things I like about romerpc as opposed to a reddit or tumblr, which attract so much of the same audience that it feels like talking to 30 of the same people, and likewise also results in that group calling shots on how things go. And inb4 "but you're doing that right now" - my point is that if you don't like our namecalling, you can very easily skip over it and interact with plenty hate-free folks who are funnier and talk about different topics.
The_Real_Razorbeard wrote:There is no 'artistic merit' in cussing out a former friend while 'shitposting' if that's really what you're going to call that.
Wrong, just accusing people of being homosapien gets old really quick, thus spawning variations as it goes. Maybe you'll try like a, homolord or, dare I say, f-word. You could impersonate one of those billyhills and get all "these filthy gays!", or if you're really feeling like a quality gaypost you can actually impersonate the homo itself, of course portraying blatantly negative characteristics and associating them with homosexuals. As you progress, you reach this kind of abstract gayness that only through witnessing all the previous iterations can you really understand or "get" the next layer. Eventually it comes full circle, and just regularly accusing someone of being fagtarded is now a unique approach again, and from there on you spawn the next cycle.
The_Real_Razorbeard wrote:And if all that was 'tame' by your standards, I'd really hate to see the kind of shit you say in private.
one time he called me a cunt
The_Real_Razorbeard wrote:Plus, limiting your vocabulary in that manner can force you to be more creative with your humor anyways.

I don't think anyone should use niggas. Especially black people themselves. Since, black people calling themselves niggas allows others to use it as well. Consider this interesting tidbit of information: I am in an asian fraternity, and even they use the word with each other. Secretly of course. So you saying this doesn't validate your statement in my eyes. It just shows how naive black people really are.

---

On cussing, I don't care in general. When I was younger I cussed more. Cussing has lost it's appeal to me. I save cussing for when I'm angry/emotional to emphasize it more. All in all, words in general are subjective. Meaning, we link words with our own interpretations. Sex to me can mean fucking while sex to to you can mean 'male or female'. Apex to me can mean a tournament series that sucks balls while Apex to you can mean a rent-a-fence brand. I think this is what George Carlin was getting at. Words are words. We just attach meaning to it.

---

Now, the worst place to see the word 'Fuck!' be used in is at the dentist's office by your crazy dentist complaining about a client not paying their bill, when you are just a little kid who hasn't heard the word used before.

I don't know about Castro either. The President here in Ireland praised him for giving Cuba back to the people, but there was a "but". I suppose he has a point.
My parents think he's really been dead for the last eight years, but they just covered it up. :fou:

BTW why is :grrrrrr: now first on the full list of smileys?

I'm just going to admit you have some good points and say that I find the 'culture of the room' a bit distasteful personally, and leave it at that.

Nobody cares anymore. It's like Pokémon Go : no update will ever make it groundbreaking again.

I'm partly worried they change their vision of the game just to satisfy players.

(note: I haven't played the game yet. I'll probably once I get a machine, console or PC, powerful enough to run it)

On one hand, the fact that they are working on the game to make such an update is great! The UI has been refined, which was really needed. Also, Creative Mode. Please yes. Collecting resource (or anything) is definitely something that bores me. Now we can finally just wander in space and explore, without useless "gameplay-thingy-stuff" just here to create an illusion of challenge.
Oh, and writing messages to other players. This is actually awesome. Asynchronous multiplayer that still make you feel alone!

On the other hand… While building stations is fun, and teleporters are convenient, the game lose a bit of its "passive ephemeral exploration" philosophy. Most exploration games give to the player the ability to own the world. They are conqueror, they put flags, build things, tame nature to let a print and make the universe their own. Players are the center of the world. Which is fun, really! But No Man's Sky is one of the few games that took another approach: you explore to discover, but you have no impact on the world. You are meaningless, everything is astronomically big, any action you do is insignificant, and leaving a place means never finding it again. It's not a world to conquer, it's one to get lost in. The player is just a part of it. And this is also fascinating, and really a clever design (among mistakes that the game made)!
But it's also a little niche, and not what most players expected from the ads (whether it's the responsibility of Sony or Hello Games is irrelevant here). People have been asking for crafting, building bases, fighting, multiplayer… “Doing stuff”, because they want to do stuff to feel powerful. Which, actually, is fine. But really not the point of No Man's Sky. Like, I've seen people asking for a multiplayer allowing to meet players, build communities, cities, and having some sort of big MMO… But No Man's Sky doesn't have its title for nothing: it's mostly about lonely wandering! Making it multiplayer would completely go against the game's spirit.
Of course I'm not one of Hello Games' game designer, but we can still understand a big part of Murray's vision by listening to his interview, and what he was the most interested about. Analysis of the game also help to understand it better, what it did right, what it did wrong… And what identity it succeeded to have.

Now, this update is great great news, and I'm impatient to see what is there to come for this game. Which, while very clumsy and disappointing, is exceptional in its game-design and what it achieved on a technical level, with some audacious ideas. Let's fix what can be fixed and make this little gem enjoyable!
But I have still a bit of worries. I hope Hello Games won't loose their track by pandering to players who just want another "Ultimate Space Opera Game". They've already shown they're not good for it anyway: their original ideas are great, and should not be put aside with traditional game codes just to please more gamers.
Gamers are already done with this game anyway. Forget them! :P
