Can a raymanonelogist point out the differences in music per version? I noticed in the PS1 version Dickture (ha!) City seems to mostly feature the transition tracks (ink water, ripping paper noises) or just silence, but I'm pretty sure PC just plays the same full loop in every level.
Re: Rayman 1
Yes. I loved Radical Rex more than any other platformer from the 90s. To me, he was clearly the undisputed champion of the genre. More successful mascot's were nothing more than false prophets to me and unlike the other kids on the playground, I could see past Sonic's bullshit, Bubsy's illegitimacy and don't get me started on that swine Mario. Radical Rex taught me how to skate. I used to dress up as him and lay down eggs I had scavenged from the fridge, skating over them as if they were collectibles from the game. The bruises and scolding I received from my dad as punishment were worth it. Nothing could beat the feeling of assuming the role of Rad Rex.sergiomonty wrote:...So, there's a Radical Rex fandom? woah.Bzzit wrote:Leave Radical Rex the fuck out of this. Little did I know my boarding skills and street cred that I acquired by emulating Rex's sweet moves would land me a beautiful muse. I was 16, Rad Rex was still on my mind, my skating and Rad Rex cosplay had now evolved from mere childplay but now a sophisticated avenue for me to push my campaign. A campaign to show the nay-sayers that Rad Rex woudl NEVER die, and someday, SOMEDAY, a sequel would release. A sequel so fucking good it would wipe the smug grin off Mario's fat head and leave Sonic dead in his tracks. Summer vacation '96 - A female spectator watched as I teared up the local shopping mall sporting my rad rex costume and custom board, my mega phone was firmly taped to my mouth, making my petty jawline and mouth instead appear mighty and extruded just like Rex's. I even glued teeth from my late Rottweiler Rex to the opening of the megaphone, making the cosplay that more authentic and intimidating to those drek Mario and sonic phone who would fucking dare cross me on the street. As I roared, my dinosaur roars. educating the mindless sheeple of Rad rex and what he has to offer as a platforming mascot, a female moved in my direction. As the damsel approached me, I thought nothing of it, and like the many hundreds of individuals I had mindlessley expressed of my cause to that day, I began my normal routine.. My mind was wandering and my eyes glazed, until I felt her woman hood tremble before; she was not like the others. This sexual awaking led my gaze to her chest (lads u know what im talking about ayyy lmao) and there I noticed something wodnerous. The most spectacular thing I had witnessed thus far in my life. It was not the firm, supple tits, but in fact the Rad rex Logo spread across her tank top. She was a fan, I had found my soul mate. I made love to her that day. and several times afterwards. She would only refer to me as "Rex" with such quote as "ooohhh rex that is so radical" you ge tthe idea. Another quirk is the fact she would require that I wear my Rex attire during our intimate moments.
I prayed to rex multiple times daily after that and thanked him for giving me the gift of pussy. Those Sonic fanfucks and Mario cultists could not bring me down now; What SOnic fan can honestly say they got real poontang from there devotion to Sonic?. I was a god. Rex was a god. I thought this was indication that a sequel was in the post.. I felt certain.
But I was wrong.
My girlfriend shared my radical views on radical Rex. We had established a gang of fellow Rad Rex fanboys - an army even. Our campaign was stronger than ever. We would infiltrate midnight launches of various Mario games and go head to head with some of the most vicious Mario fans youd ever seen. It was a bloody mess, but the sheer adrenaline I got from pounding a Mario fan in the jaw was exhilarating. I was addicted to this lifestyle and so was my gf. We were consumed by Rad Rex, it fuled our hatred for those who oppose him and garner hope for his inevitable comeback into the gaming market.
We were over her place. It was like any other Sunday. We were about to beat Rad Rex for 700th time together, it was a very special time. I had baked a special Rex cake for her, and had hidden it in her bathroom cupboard earlier that day. As she was fixated on beating stage 9, I quietly left the room and went to grab the cake. I could not wait to see the look on her face. As hastily opened the cupboard I knocked some of the contents onto the floor. Luckily the cake was just fine, but something grey caught my stare. It was a game cartridge. It was turned over on the floor. I assumed it was another copy of Rad rex she had lying around. Maybe she would take it in the bath and touch herself over the artwork of Rex. I did not mind this though as me and Rex were intertwined - one whole. As I unsuspectingly flipped the game over I saw the devil stare right through my souls. The devil sporting plumber's attire. That fat fuck Mario was staring right at me. In the moment my hopes, dreams and life collapsed together into the cataclysm. I was in awe, stunned. When reality returned, anger followed and next thing I know bounded back into the bedroom, fist clenched tightly around the Mario bros 3 cartridge. I lunged the cartridge at my girlfriend. She shrieked and dropped the controller. I told her to pause the fuckign game so rex didn't have to hear this. She did this without question, but as she looked at the anti-christ I had just thrown a t her fear shook her body and before I knew it let out a mighty roar. She tried toe xplain and gave me bullshit excuse after excuse. I would have none of it. I told her to fucking leave, then stupidly realized it was her palce so I let my self out instead, telling her she was a cheating, backstabbing whore and I did not want to see her EVER again.
My campain was finished. i was a mess. I missed the rule34 hentai my slutfuck gf drew of Rad Rex. I missed my campaigns and curbstomping Sonic fans at Sonic con. I had been misguided by a succubus and failed Rex. Years passed and I saw the Sonic fans grow stronger on Deviant art. The Mario fans boasting online about the Metacritic of Galaxy, while Rex was dead. I was dead.
I knew I couldn't give up. With the internet growing larger by the day, I hung up my costume and skateboard and decided to create a platform. A platform where likeminded Rad Rex follower could come together and worship our saviour. No filthy sluts, Mario fans, or trolls would get in my way. The only thing that matters to me now is the comeback of Rex and me and my army on the Radrex fan forum will have our justice when our long awaited sequel is released.
If that fuck Crash Banfdicoot can comeback then so can Rex
Re: Rayman 1
The PS1 version has some exclusive MIDI tracks for certain parts, like chase scens. The ink water I think is in the PC version as well, though it's part of this big Picture City loop. So yeah, the PC version has basically only 2 tracks for each world: the main big loop with all the tracks and then the boss song.Keane wrote:Can a raymanonelogist point out the differences in music per version? Bzzit, I'm sorry to hear about that incident. Have you tried contacting your ex since it happened? She might still forgive you.

Which version are you playing when this happens, because to the best of my knowledge the only version where Viking Mama doesn't say anything is the original Jaguar version which didn't have any voices at all.Shadowrayman wrote:I discovered a glitch in my version of Rayman 1 that when Viking space mama makes those Hu! I'm over her now. I found her new rule34 account and she's started posting Mario content, so I don't think I'll ever forgive her.Sabertooth wrote:Bzzit, I'm sorry to hear about that incident. Have you tried contacting your ex since it happened? She might still forgive you.

Interesting, there's a lot of little changes in presentation that I like between the versions (Advance often uses Mr. Dark's theme on Band Land giving it a whole different feel, and DSi opts for Space Mama's theme for most of Picture City). I've compared footage now and I definitely like the PS1 version's Picture City better, the more frequent use of the darker backgrounds and oil/craft transitions gives it kind of a gloomier feel that's not present in the PC version. Space Mama's Crater seems much more like it's leading up to a boss fight this way.Carrot-master wrote:The PS1 version has some exclusive MIDI tracks for certain parts, like chase scens. Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, the PS1 version takes much better usage of effects in levels, such as adding fog and changing the lightning. And it of course also sounds much better with a specific track in each phase of the levels as it makes it easier setting it apart from other levels and also gives more of a unique atmosphere. While the PC version is lacking most of this, it does instead compensate with some exclusive features, such as the first level of Band Land which now acts like a nice transition between the forest and music world and the extra animations after each boss (although they're pretty random and rather out of place). I can't remember much of the soundtrack playing in the GBA version, though I believe it used the Mr. Dark theme as the "intense" theme and played it at parts where the world-specific intense theme was ment to play. I also remember it recycling the classic Band Land theme a lot and even using it for its title theme.

Guys, I've been playing Rayman 1 recently and I'm starting to wonder: is 50hz the intended speed for the game to run on or is 60hz the intended speed? Because I've played the PS1 PAL version recently and suddenly 60hz just seems really fast.

Well, shit, Bzzzit, I didn't expect you to have a deep, dark story involving Radical Rex. Life sure is like a box of chocolates.
I'm real sorry for y-
...nah, I'm just kidding, your story sounds very bullshit.

I do believe 60Hz is the proper speed for Rayman 1.CHRdutch wrote:Guys, I've been playing Rayman 1 recently and I'm starting to wonder: is 50hz the intended speed for the game to run on or is 60hz the intended speed? Re: Rayman 1
I'm quite sure it's 50 for PAL and 60 for NTSC. The PAL version is noticeably slower than the NTSC version.Fifo wrote:I do believe 60Hz is the proper speed for Rayman 1.CHRdutch wrote:Guys, I've been playing Rayman 1 recently and I'm starting to wonder: is 50hz the intended speed for the game to run on or is 60hz the intended speed? Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, I'm well aware of that. But we were discussing which speed was the speed the developers originally intented the game to run on, since the game was developed in Europe (where all games ran at 50hz at the time).Carrot-master wrote:I'm quite sure it's 50 for PAL and 60 for NTSC. So the question which I'm asking is: is 60hz too fast or is 50hz too slow?

Off the top of my head I can't remember what speed Designer and the other spin-offs run at, but that could give a clue…

I believe Designer lets you choose between 60hz and 50hz, like the PC version of Rayman 1.

Re: Rayman 1
60 hertz/NTSC was the intended speed. Look at the in-game timers and any of the promotional material.
