Re: Crash Bandicoot
I'm hoping, but I doubt it, while it's true that Crash is multi platform, it seems like Sony still has complete control over the ND trilogy.
Re: Crash Bandicoot
Oh man, that intro looks so good. I'm so glad Lex is doing the voice of Cortex still. He's definitely my favorite VA to portray Cortex.
And $40? Not bad. I'm seriously considering getting a PS4 for these remasters.

At the moment, I've been hearing about a Summer 2017 release.

Can't wait to see some Crash 2 footage. In my opinion, it's the best Crash Bandicoot game.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Agreed. I can't count how many time's I've replayed that game to death. I know all the secrets pretty well. Graphically and environment wise, it's my favorite Crash game. I think it had some of the most beautiful and varied looking levels so I'm really excited to see how they remake that in the remaster. I especially wanna see how they'll go about remaking this warp room:Ray502 wrote:Can't wait to see some Crash 2 footage. In my opinion, it's the best Crash Bandicoot game.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I'll admit, of all the platforming ND-era Crash games, Crash 2 is the one I have the least experience with. But looking how gorgeous that warp room looks on PS1, I can see why you guys are looking forward to the facelift.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
The snow levels come into my mind the most. I'd like to see some additions like snow falling down when Crash is outside of the caves, and to add some valleys/mountains in the background.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Yeah, Crash 2 is my favourite and I'm looking forward to seeing it remade.
Crash 2 is near perfect imo, aside from the final "battle" with Cortex, which is pretty much unanimously labelled as awful. Wishful thinking, but it would be cool if they improved this boss and fleshed it out so it isn't nearly as anti-climatic. Rest of the game just needs a face-lift.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I kind of liked that last boss, my only issue was it was just too easy, they should've made it way more difficult.
Also that 100% ending is extremely satisfying, where you blow up the Cortex Vortex with N. Brio. Can't wait to see that on the remake as well.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Conceptually, I think the boss is c00l, but the execution is pretty bad imo, and yeah it's mainly down to the difficultly. I thought the bosses that preceded it, Tiny and N-gin, were a lot better.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the redone intro and ending cutscenes. The holograms in the warp room should be interesting too.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
The first Crash game I ever played was Wrath of Cortex when I was 4, and it was awesome. There's some flaws that weren't in previous titles (loading time for example), but it's 2nd favorite behind Cortex Strikes Back.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I use to love Wrath of Cortex as well... but after having played it so many times, and after watching Adsolution screenshare it.... I think it's incredibly mediocre.
I liked some of the ideas (hell, Crash and Burn still remains one of my favorite levels), but the execution of a lot of the game was lackluster. Shitty loading screens aside, the game had WAY too many vehicle levels. The game felt a lot slower than the previous Crash games too. Some of the animations and models reek of early next gen PS2/Gamecube graphics at that time. Not only that but it ripped off so much from Warped. I don't think ripping stuff off is such a bad thing, but the way WoC executed it was poor.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
This is incredibly surreal. I never thought Crash would get anything ever again, and now here we are. He's even appeared in a Netflix original series. Crash Bandicoot! In 2016!
I guess PS1 nostalgia finally hit. Finally something other than shitty NES nostalgia can take over the gaming scene.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
It did get annoying. Even the teaser trailer showed too much of the vehicle/flying levels. At 5:09.Rayfist wrote: the game had WAY too many vehicle levels.
Compacter Reactor is my favorite Crash Bandicoot level, the riding in the mines part is pretty cool, having to react to the Nitro boxes especially in time trial mode; The technology room is cool too but there's this one tech like sound that gets irritating after a while.
Please explain to me the ripping off part from Warped, I have heard about this complaint for a while, and I've yet to spot notable differences besides the power-ups and getting enough relics to enter the 5 bonus levels.Rayfist wrote:Not only that but it ripped off so much from Warped. Re: Crash Bandicoot
WOC is pretty good, but lacks the distinctive art direction, soundtrack and stylism that the ND games had. Everything just seems a lot more generic and less inspired.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I think WoC was a bit of a safe game, they stuck to the framework of Warped, but tried to spice it up by coming up with new level gimmicks and the like. Given the circumstances, it's understandable, given it was the first game made by non-ND folks. And it seems they did try to take on board what they learned from WoC while also trying to revamp the gameplay formula in Twinsanity.
With that in mind, I know there are some folks who wished that Vicarious Visions went straight into making new games instead of remakes, but I think it's good that they're doing this. It gives them the chance to completely understand the series and provides a nice framework for future evolution of the series, if Activision decides to continue afterwards.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
As stated before, the over abundance of vehicle levels that made up almost half the fucking game (only difference is some of the vehicle levels in Warped were actually fun), the similar time themed aspect in some levels of traveling to medieval times, to prehistoric era. Little things like that, and the stuff you already mentioned above (which you told me not to mention even though the time relics make up like 50% of the game.)Ray502 wrote: Please explain to me the ripping off part from Warped, I have heard about this complaint for a while, and I've yet to spot notable differences besides the power-ups and getting enough relics to enter the 5 bonus levels.
I think another big issue I have is that the game doesn't even really have its own identity, Warped rip off aside, the models are some of the worst (not as bad as Titans era though), a lot of the levels really don't feel Crash-like.
Don't get me wrong, WoC had some excellent levels and moments, but the game was too filled with bullshit, I feel like I would have been far less frustrated if not going for 100% completion, especially that annoying vehicle level where getting all the boxes was a pain in the ass since you couldn't reverse. I still like WoC for what it is but I can't deny it really isn't all that good, but it could have been WAY worse.
I'm extremely happy with the decision, MORE than I would be with a new game. I probably wouldn't be too excited if it were only the first title being remade, but they're going ALL the way with a remaster of the whole trilogy, with additional features. Regardless, I hope this trilogy sells well enough for an actual classic styled sequel to happen. Or possibly go all out and attempt something open world like Twinsanity (hopefully to a less extent with glitches though.)Master wrote:I know there are some folks who wished that Vicarious Visions went straight into making new games instead of remakes, but I think it's good that they're doing this.
