wow, at 0:28 that crystal (or were they also lums in rayman3? I don't remember clearly) just gone "to infinity and beyond" :D watching this video made me wish for a way to play rayman games in a first-person view, so that I can almost "be" Rayman :DD nice video, I must say, keep it up :D

Once again, sorry about the FPS. It's the highest I could get with my setup.
By the way, we found with RibShark a FPS mode debug feature left in game files, maybe it'd be fun to test it in VR, although from what I tested camera's a bit odd and it seems to softlock at some moments

AFAIK it's not a debug feature but a game mode that they wanted to put in the final game after playing too much Half-Life!

Yeah, it's a crystal. I found that to be a neat detail I honestly never put much thought into until now. I didn't know they flew that far up.

Thanks, I appreciate it man! Part two is currently being uploaded. Will post it later.

Woah, that's awesome. I might either integrate this into my current playthrough or make a separate series dedicated to it. I'm not sure yet, but I definitely want to try it out.

Yeah, the gems fly up to infinity until they disappear from view. You can see that sometimes when you climb ladders.

From a point of view you might be right, and I accept your reasons as well. Still I have to say that, Rayman 2 will always be closer to my heart, because:

-better story
-better music
-more colourful
-interesting, and varied levels (for example the one with the ship was a huge surprise for me, when I've played it for the first time)

(I don't mean any offense, this might be only my opinion.)

Rayman 3 is also a great game, I remember how much I was hyped to play it, but in the end it just couldn't leave such good memories in me as Rayman 2 did. It indeed left good memories, but if I have to choose I would still play Rayman 2, even if it mean I can't play Rayman 3 ever again. And that's why I think Rayman 2 is better. Rayman 3 just missed something what Rayman 2 had. I don't know what it is, and maybe it is just me, but that's why I think Rayman 2 is better. :)

I've got to agree with raymanHUN here. I also like the pacing and variety more in Rayman 2. Each level stands out and feels unique without changing the gameplay too drastically. In the Echoing Caves you get to fly with a keg, in the Whale Bay you swim and in the Canopy you get help from Globox. These elements makes each level more interesting, and since most of the elements aren't reused too much later they come to represent the levels in a way. It also adds a lot of verity to the stages and ensures that there'll be something new to see in each new level you unlock. In Rayman 3 you were simply moving forward while combating enemies in each level (except the Longest Shortcut which I enjoy because of it) and occasionally doing something different like chasing after your shoe, which was pretty lame when compared to things like using plums over lava, sliding, being chased by a pirate ship, swimming underwater, water-skiing etc.. The environments were still different, but there were a lot fewer of them compared to Rayman 2.
I'm also one who kinda dislikes the scoring system in Rayman 3. Having to think about getting a good combo with every gem and enemy adds an unnecessary layer of stress.
Then there's the combat. While I'd agree that Rayman 3 has generally better combat controls, enemies appear way too often and break the pacing. In Rayman 2, enemies appear a lot less often (except the PS2 version which I dislike because of it) and makes each encounter with a robo-pirate feel more threatening (even though they're generally too easy to defeat).
I'm also one who really appreciates the mystical atmosphere in Rayman 2 over the more comical and lighthearted one in Rayman 3.

Part 2 is up now! I encountered a number of interesting graphical bugs in this one, such as a mirrored Rayman at 9:15 and certain parts where you can see through walls into other fully rendered areas.

The most interesting event occurred for me around 5:12 when a Tribelle started following the camera and kept getting in my face for two whole minutes. I'm not sure why that happened, but it cracked me up.

I think it's the same deal as with the gems. The Tribelle flies towards the camera until it disappears from view, but because you're doing weird things with the camera it doesn't know when it's disappeared from view, so it keeps flying towards the camera, then overshooting and turning back, ad infinitum. Looks like it finally stopped when it flew out of bounds, and thus definitely knew it wasn't visible anymore.

Huh, many thanks for sharing, gamerz.

That's pretty impressive, naturally it'd need some fine-tuning if it wanted to completely replicate the original, but it is meant to be a simple demonstration it seems. With that in mind, wow. Just, wow. The Fairy Council looks absolutely stunning, the lighting effects really give the area a much more fantastical feel. I'd love to see Rayman 3 reimagined like this, if Ubi ever did feel like doing something more than just another port.

The author said that he couldn't extract animations, so he needed to recreate them. But it looks wonderful

Yeah, the animations are really wonky, but the lighting and material work is absolutely beautiful.

Did I say before Uglette was intended to appear in Rayman 3 perhaps in final cutscene?
