Add Globox, Barbara, and the Teensies as playable characters, add co-op, and have the same feel to Origins and Legends to the mix and I'll be like...Squiz wrote:I would love a new 3D Rayman game like CGI trailers we had for Legends and Adventures, with story and voice acting.
When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?

Knowing Ubisoft, we most likely will see "Rayman 3 4K" being released with tons of bugs and glitches.

Conclusion: it is a russian-roullete.

Here's the thing with that though: The first 3 (+CD) Sonic games all had very consistent gameplay and graphical styles, making them identifiable as "the classic Sonic games" whereas the games that came after made extreme departures in those areas. That being said, it was easy to just go back to the original style of gameplay and call it "Sonic 4" because the fans will know exactly what to expect.CHRdutch wrote:Acarr wrote:I feel it's too late for a "Rayman 4" title, Rayman 3 came out over 10 years ago.
With Rayman, every game in the original trilogy was extremely different. What would be the difference between a hypothetical "Rayman 4" and Rayman Origins? What type of gameplay would it have? Most people who clamor for a "Rayman 4" are the same ones who want an exploratory 3D platformer with a narrative and dynamic characters, but the first Rayman wasn't that--yet we still consider it part of the trilogy. Rayman Origins could have easily been called Rayman 4 and no one would have batted an eye. This is not the case with Sonic Adventure, which was a huge change from the established and consistent style of its predecessors.
Personally I think the whole numbering system in video games is arbitrary. I just want a new game that breaks the current homogenization; they can call it "Rayman Buttfuck Sunday" for all I care.

Woo! Now you've made me extremely hyped for that title! I better go to the official Rayman FB page and start demanding the release Rayman Buttfuck Sunday AT ONCE!Sabertooth1000000000 wrote: Personally I think the whole numbering system in video games is arbitrary. Why we call the trilogy the trilogy
I might be totally mistaken but isn't it that before Rayman 2 / Crash / Jak / Spyro as 3D platformers, JumpNRun was commonly 2D because this is what technical progression is? Many developers saw the opportunities (and fundamental risks, in all terms of design [be it gameplay or clarity!]) of bringing their franchises to the third dimensions (or vice versaSabertooth wrote:

Nowadays, the step back (I don't mean this in a negative way) from 2D to 3D platforming with Rayman Legends and Origins is a much more deliberate choice: Publishers and developers didn't want to explore a literal new dimension of gaming or felt the need to keep up to date by just doing it for the sake of it. Rather, 2D is a choice for a specific look (=dimensional restrictions with never-before-associated-with-this beautiful textures), well-explored gameplay (=typical sidescrolling), and/or delivering nostalgia (=all of the above plus jokes like totally typical horizontally scrolling flyNshoot levels).
TL;DR a.k.a. Having said all this: The jump into 3D towards Rayman 2 was not PERCEIVED as a spin-off-like deviatiousness simply because the choice for 3D felt naturally progressive, maybe inevitable even (tell me if I exaggerate this point, I'm just 23). From this point of view, it is understandable why people are able to perceive Rayman 1, 2, and 3 as a trilogy. With or without the knowledge of Ancel's motivations, fans take into account limitations from at the time, and why the three first "story" games (which is why M or Arena don't get count, of course) are being seen at as more or less coherent bundle.
In order to make my point why the trilogy is seen as a trilogy a little clearer, let's have a look at Origins and Legends again, and what differentiates them from Rayman 1, 2, and 3: Although O. and L. feature light storytelling and different areas to explore as well, the environmental backdrops are mere means to implement certain game mechanics. An example: A water world allows for swimming -> allows for new enemies -> demands new movesets. Highlighting a certain environment and using this opportunity for new gameplay elements is universal. For O. and L., this is used subtly: just run from start to finish and have some variety on the way.
But when Rayman 2 and 3 allowed for the exploration of vast or chaotic landscapes, you were meant to maybe get lost a little and truly immerse into this magical world.
Of course, all of the games mentioned above follow the same design principles and are well crafted. But at the same time we feel a shift in the weight of certain aspects when we compare the "trilogy" with Legends and Origins. The means are subtle, the effect isn't - at least, to me.
I hope you enjoyed this WOT

Well according to this not until the new Beyond Good and Evil is out, which'll be a year or two.

Rayman Buttfuck Sunday, coming to a store near you
Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
Rayman 4 Episode 1 and Rayman 4 Episode 2 as 2D reboot of Rayman 1 and as Rayman 2 prototype all in 2,5D just like sonic the hedgehog, little big planet, mighty no.9,rad rodgers and super mario bros.
Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
I would like to see a 3D Rayman game, because I think Ubisoft has what it takes to make a good comeback. Just as they did to 2D in Origins and Legends, they could make the same to the 3D gameplay, because Rayman 2, 3 and M were great, in my opinion. Since a lot of time has passed since then, imagine a Rayman game with cool 3D graphics (but still with this amazing, cartoony art!) and awesome gameplay with good animations, a story mode, playable characters etc.
However I would really want Rayman to keep its own style, in the graphics, gameplay and atmosphere, I don't want them to make a game 'just because fans want it' or 'let's keep up with the pace'.

Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
Can Ubisoft just make a new Rayman game by this year because the previous years when origins was out, then 2 years later legends was out then 2 years later I thought a new Rayman game will come out but then no! What is Ubisoft doing?

Publishing games, as they do. If you're referring to Montpellier and Michel Ancel, they're busy working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, a game that has been desired for well over a decade.
Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
I believe Michel Ancel is also working on another game, Wild, so he's probably quite busy now. I believe they're simply putting focus on Adventures being the current Rayman game until they have plans to do another one.
Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
I can imagine what Rayman Legends 2 would be like. The game would start and you can't even move. All that happens is Rayman pulls down his pants, sucks his thumb and takes a shit.

Re: When will we get to see new Rayman, realistically?
I think time will come at least Ubi Art Net Framework still countinues change.org petition and it seems rayman origins and rayman legends was like rayman 4 episode 1,episode 2.It seems you don't count Rayman 4 was intended to be 3D game, but it was slated later to gba as rayman raving rabidds also rayman 3 gba version is in 2D mixing rayman 3 original enemies with rayman 2 boss fights and characters so it's rayman 2,5 or rayman 2+.

What Rayman adventures? Come on that's just an iOS Rayman app, I don't really like iOS games that much. I discovered there were rabbids in adventures which is quite surprising so that means that Rayman adventures might be Rayman 4!Carrot-master wrote:I believe Michel Ancel is also working on another game, Wild, so he's probably quite busy now. 'Tis a game, Shadowrayman. Michel's other well known creation, and one that he's been working on and off for over a decade.

When will the Next Rayman Game be released?
When will the Next Rayman game be released (if they decide to make any)? I am not talking about those games like Rayman Fiesta Run and rayman mini. I would like to know when the next game like Rayman Origins or Rayman Legends will come out! The latest Rayman game was Rayman Legends, which was made in 2013!
