I think that's a little overzealous. While it's true that they may be overbearing, I don't think there's any malice in their actions. Splitting with one's parent over something as trivial as bedtimes is overdoing it.

To be fair to weather folk, weather can be somewhat unpredictable. Better to give warning than risk lives, if they have sufficient reason to believe it possible.
