Bonus Question 1: We know what "gendoors" are in 2D Rayman games. But was the term ever used in relation to a 3D Rayman game? If so, how do we know?

In Rayman 2, not that I know of. Using RayTwol to look at the names of in game files, there's nothing called gendoor, just things called "Activator" and "Gen" which I'm guessing could be the equivalent.
However in this beta screenshot of Rayman 3, there is an option on the debug menu to toggle visibility of gendoors, so they were used in the development of Rayman 3 at least.

BTW, there is a texture in Rayman 2 that says "gendoor", which is what I was thinking of.
