Maybe you should get an old PSP, the PSX emulation is spot on and it seems more reasonable to travel with (though I have been guilty of taking my PS2 away with me, multiple times while on holiday when I was supposed to be appreciating the new surroundings )

I've just read Sony can't know you use PS vita hacks as long as you put the flight mode on so I guess it's safe.

That sounds terrifying! It probably doesn't quite compare but the closest I've come to this is when I was young and my pet fish looked like it was dead for long periods of time... Turns out he was just lazy. Unfortunately he got fish bladder disease which we couldn't cure, but had the somewhat amusing (though now that I look back somewhat distressing) side effect of causing him to swim upside down.

So that's what our goldfish had!! Stupid thing would always be upside down and appear dead until poked. Till one day, poking it didn't work and it was dead for real. That was years later though.
