< does own a android smartphone, but <'s had it for over 2 years and it's showing its signs of wearing down. The battery time for one, is greatly reduced, and if the phone is running multiple apps at once, the phone will tend to crash and turn itself back on, draining the battery percentage.

It's primarily about the pipeline being build on land considered "sacred" to the Native American tribe that lives there, and that it'll interfere with the safety of the water supply of people living in the area. Many environmentalists have also condemned the pipeline for furthering climate change, and it gained a lot of widespread criticism when a story came out that the police force tasked to remove a group of peaceful protestors turned violent, as well as that the company behind the pipeline also donated a bunch of money to Trump's campaign, and now the Trump Administration is doing their bidding.

So yeah, it's a complicated situation that < thinks would all in all be best resolved by simply not building the pipeline, and instead focusing our energies on green technology.

I find it a bit sad however that religion is given so much importance and used as an excuse against a technical project like this. Whether it's Christianity or native religions, they should be kept out of the public sphere. I get the point about focusing on renewables instead, but what are the concerns about the water supply?
