No, and I wouldn't even pronounce alluminium as I suggested unless it was in a formal context. I make a lot of deliberate errors when speaking colloquially. It's just social conventions really, I'm out there to be liked and not to be seen as some strange Olde English guy who cares about pronunciation.

Xenon hasn't been around too much lately, unfortunately.

I remember the good ol' days when he and I were both mod earlier on.

Fine, as I said earlier I’ve finally got the time to record my Beatles Love Songs vinyl to my Mac. What about you?

Fifo's making me want to get another turn table, with all this talk of vinyl... my old one's okay but I want a DD model.

Quartz lock would be nice – I have a belt drive non-quartz-locked turntable and the speed issues bother me.

There do seem to be two potentiometers on the bottom of my turntable but I don’t know which one is for 33⅓ and which one for 45rpm and I don’t wanna screw anything up.

(Pun intended.)

Didn't think so. Funny that.

While we're at it, who says "dee-ity" and who says "day-ity" (for "deity")? Actually, maybe that should be one of Ray's polls…

"dee-ity" is how I've always pronounced it.

Well apparently it's not, as Shroob explained a few posts above.

Well if we're going to point out all the inconsistencies of English pronunciation that's gonna take a while. One of my favorites is finite and infinite.

I say day-ity but English is not exactly my first language.

Reminds me of the blog post I was gonna write about inconsistencies in English spelling. It span completely out of control so now it's just sitting there waiting to be "rewritten"… which I'll probably never get around to. :mefiant:

Quite a few of my projects were left in such a state, too. And they still are.

day-ity on my side, dee-ity sounds rather weird to my ear.
It reminds me when I talked about the pronunciation of Pokemon.

Hey, Xenon. :mryellow:

I say neither [dee-ih-ty] nor [day-ih-ty] but rather something in between like [deay-ih-ty] (if that makes any sense at all lol I need IPA characters to help me here). But it leans more towards [dee] than [day].

Well if it's that muddled then 〈eay〉 may be the best spelling of it, given how that trigraph is used in Manx! :P

I'm curious, how do you fellas pronounce banus? Me, personally, I say bay-nuss, but I imagine others might refer to it as bah-noos?

See I prefer the classic and original 'bay-nuss', as it sounds more pure and sound.

Pardon me, my humor sensors are freshly configured, was that post at any moment supposed to be funny at any level or considered as something else than a shitpost?
