OOC:
My apologies for double-posting, but it has come to my attention that something in the mechanics of the actions you have in each turn is not completely clear to everyone yet. I will explain:

You have three actions you can potentially perform in your turn:
  • One reaction;
  • Two actions, one or both of which can either be movement, or an attack.
The reaction can only be used if something triggers it: read the description for opportunity attack for example, or any of your powers that say "triggered when an enemy attacks you"; triggered powers in general slot into the one reaction that you have each round.
For example, say a creature standing adjacent to (within 5 feet of) Shrooblord decides to move away. If you read the description for opportunity attack, you'll see this movement triggers it. Shrooblord can then use his one reaction in his turn to use opportunity attack on the triggering enemy, and then take the remaining two actions he has in his turn.

Harpic, on the other hand, is not adjacent to any enemies. He cannot choose to "use his reaction" on anything, for nothing has triggered it.

Your reaction needs to be triggered in order to use it, but when you do get to use it, it's essentially a free additional action in your turn that can only be used for specific powers. But still, free action! :D
PS
[Opportunity Attack]
Triggered attack power - melee. Trigger: something you consider an enemy moves through a space adjacent to you (within 5 feet). You make a basic attack against the triggering target.
[Note:] While under the effect of certain crowd-control status effects such as stunned, you cannot make opportunity attacks.

OOC: Hey boys, I am currently extremely busy with university and some real life stuff. Up 'n till Tuesday I might/might not be able to contribute. I will try to save some creative energy for posting here but as I said, no promises. That said, Shroobs, a PM is coming your way

Hmm, low on energy, this doesn't bode well. I should hopefully be able to finish off Enemy E, so perhaps it'd be best for everyone else to move on to the other enemies. I'll provide support where I can, but I'm not the most fortified of folk, and I am also poisoned.

OOC:
Well, I've been checking back and forth, back and forth since this morning, and still not everyone has responded; but it is simply time we move on.

IC:
Day 1. Dark Forest, Market Glade
The automaton Chimney, taken by surprise by the scene that unfolded before him so swiftly after it had been lying in sleep buried beneath the soft, cold earth, revved into motion. Its gears creaking, its pistons pumping, steam exiting its every locomotive bit, it moved. One step, two steps, heavy thuds on the ground. The robot was moving. But not very far. Its legs, too, had quite suffered from being unused for thousands of years. Though he paced with sheer determination, he moved merely 5 feet to the West. But boy, when he'd get there, he'd be showing those little critters who's boss!

Meanwhile, the rest of the party had seen the little creature attack and harm
Master, and they were not going to let that act go unpunished. With a righteous vengeance, an enormous amalgamate of attacks fired and converged upon the little space in the brush that had been propelling darts towards the mage.
A lot of things happened all at once.

Dog Food made alluring gestures towards the underbrush and a squeak of confusion came as a reply. Afterwards, the living pack of canine cuisine shot grain-free punishment its way. Harpic saw a friend in trouble and so hurried towards the underbrush, slamming down on it with his heavy fists of stone. A bolt of energy slammed into the dark space beneath the leafy roof. And to top it all off, a fiery explosion of bright purple light emanating from the underbrush set aflame some small, dry leaves on the ground.

Needless to say, the last that was seen of the creature was a pair of eyes flying off into the distance. While certainly assuring themselves of its destruction, perhaps the party would have been more efficient at taking down multiple enemies had they communicated a little more beforehand.

"Hah don't worry friends!" you heard emanate from the mountain of metal beside
Udongo Mtu, "They may use deadly force, but they don't use a proper baguette! There's no way they will win!"

Shrooblord, the knight who dislikes people with long hair but likes haute cuisine, thwarted the creatures surrounding him, standing very menacingly with his baguette in hand, towering above his foes, looking quite the example indeed.

Standing there for a couple of seconds, he seemed to be the centre of attention for a short while. When nothing much of significance appeared to happen, you heard him softly mutter: "Hm. I think we'll need to bring bigger breads."
He then continued to lather his baguette in garlic butter.

Having a fleeting moment of peace,
Dog Food and Master were fumbling with things silently close to their body. When next you looked, it appeared there were now two Masters!

But... one of them almost instantaneously exploded into shrapnel.
Dog Food was hit by wood and metal bits and bobs flying whichever way all around where previously there had been standing a Master. Meanwhile, the other Master looked a lot less worse for wear. It is as if new life had come over him, so full of vigour was he once more. The noisome, unwholesome glaze had passed from his eyes and he seemed ready to take on more foes!

The same could not be said for
Udongo Mtu. The poor man of clay seemed to turn green to the flesh... skin... surface? You weren't sure. Whichever way it is, he was clearly suffering from his ailments.

The green creature standing beside the bundle of cloaks in a brim hat shook this second creature in what seemed an attempt to wake someone from sleep. Failing to do so, it waved its arms around in the air again, purple wisps appearing like before and intoxicating the same creatures as moments earlier: the two needle wielders A and B took in the dark fumes and glared at
Udongo Mtu with a ferocity that was frankly terrifying coming from such tiny critters.

Waving their swords at the clay man, creature A stabbed the air beside him once - perhaps a taunt or threat? - and then his shins. Creature B seemed to try and poke a worm in the ground rather than the big, loveable hunk, then attempted an honest strike at
Udongo Mtu, but simply was unable to break his defence - while he was weakened by the painful darts, he was not incapable of parrying a blade yet! The final one, creature C, lunged forwards with his weapon twice, but the clay man deflected both attempts.

Finally, a volley of darts came at
Udongo Mtu from the little bow wielder that had rushed in, as well as from the unseen underbrush to the east. Two darts flew so far off into the other direction, you remember thinking to yourself they must have tried to hit a bird in the sky rather than the adonis. None of the other attacks managed to find their mark.
OOC: Thanks to your many great suggestions, I have improved the map display more this time around. Now, we have both a compass to use for directions, and a coordinate system so you can more accurately tell me where you want things to happen.

For instance, there's a fire in space B2; the space Dog Food is standing in is F11; and Harpic is in K13.

Sorry if the current map is a bit cluttered/unintelligible when it comes to these new additions; but it wasn't designed with them in mind - future maps will be better. ;)

IC:

The state of your surroundings now is as shown:

It is now the weekend. As per usual, take your time to reply for the next round. I'll write the round summary on Monday.

Right, we need to start converging on the crowd. Chimney and Dog Food seem to have the largest health bars, so it might be best if they try to tank attacks away from the weaker party members. It'll be about another turn before I can reach the main lot. If possible someone should try taking out Enemy F so we're not getting any more surprise unknown attacks.

Anyone capable of an AOE attack? We're in a good spot to use it given how close the enemies are together, might be best to check your abilities list and see if you can't unleash some major pain.

I'll see if I can't help Udongo, I'm still at a distance, but maybe I can be of some help. Keep at it guys, I feel the turnabout is coming!

Udongo turns to Shrooblord, the knight who dislikes people with long hair but likes haute quisine. "Thank you, I feel safer simply ogling your large, muscular form. If you would be so kind as to forcefully apply your baguette to our foes' faces whilst I tend to myself for a moment, that would put me in your debt.
"To the others - these two critters here," while gesturing to the enemies in F8 and G9, "are using some strange tricks that look dangerous, so try to hit them first."

Shrooblord, the knight who dislikes people with long hair but likes haute quisine, turns to the clay man and proclaims "But little man, don't you know to save the best for last?!" almost angrily. "But I see you are indeed in need of assistance, I will lend you my baguette."

Master remains in a prepared pose, awaiting for the great clock of time to free the loremaker from his perilous studies.

OOC: Heh, don't worry Shroob. I know you're probably very busy with Uni work and the like. I hope you're keeping up with it and are well.

As Udongo awaits this tense stand-off to come to its inevitable conclusion, he can't help but notice how fabulous his reflection is in the shiny needle one of the critters is menacingly pointing at him.

Hmm, not sure how Shroob's doing, hopefully his exams are going well. I was browsing about and I was wondering if this might be of use in this sort of thing in the future: http://www.gamemaster.us/

OOC:

Right. Hello. Me again. Long time no see.

I apologise deeply for pulling my disappearing act on you again like that. My life the past couple of months got turned completely on its head and it left me a bit... disoriented, to say the least. I will take a minute to elaborate. But the good news is that things are much better now, and looking up for the future. :mryellow:

So, roundabout April and May, tension at the Uni started building up as final projects, exams and deadlines all piled up onto each other. It was supposed to be my final year doing actual courses, and the monster of our study (Marklar can attest - he follows it too) was just starting round then. Now this course, let me tell you, is quite hard. Quite hard indeed. It was my third year trying to complete that course, and half of my group of friends at Uni hadn't had any better luck trying to beat it. The other half had succeeded last year, after, like all of us, failing the first. They managed to do so by pouring literal months into it, with 9 to 5 days work ethic practising and practising to get good at solving the problems you need to solve at exams.

Needless to say, it's not the only course you follow at Uni, and priorities must be set, and sacrifices made to try and get your study done. So I stopped coming here for a couple of weeks, mostly out of forgetfulness and being preoccupied with this course, but also a bit out of choice (in favour of giving this course my all).

Now, I also sing in a small music group/a cappella choir thing. Some of you may know that already. This year, we had stars in our eyes for the final show. We've never performed quite such a show, what with the amount of projects we covered, the difficulty of those songs, the fact that this year half of our people had left and had been replenished by a whole batch of great new people (but people inexperienced with our material), the venue we performed in, the amount of props and stage material we wanted, lighting... sound... the amount of audience. It was our biggest show yet. And I was at the head of the commission organising it. Now, being the overseer so to speak meant I could pass around many duties to other people in the commission (which was nice - spread the work load), but I did end up taking on a lot of tasks (too many in hindsight), myself. And organising all that got a bit stressy and put pressure on my mind, which was already working on overdrive trying to pass this monster course (as well as my three other courses I had to still complete!).

But that wasn't the end of it. However, I see on my screen I have already composed another epic, so I won't bother you with the details.

Long story short, failed my course, had a fantastic show, broke up with my first girlfriend who I'd been with for nearly 2,5 years, had a birthday, and became a bit of a hermit in the backlash of it all, finally being free and resolved of all my duties and obligations; my mind needed to unfrazzle itself. Oh, and then I decided to work a little for a month before going on holiday.

And now here we are! All caught up. I'm in the US right now (whuuuuuut) with my dad, visiting big cities, great deserts, cool mountains and watching the hot sun get smothered for two minutes by the moon (my first total Solar Eclipse... so excited... SO EXCITIFIED). And I'll be moving back up to Vancouver for a couple of weeks after that, so maybe expect some fun stories coming from either me or Addy about some antics we've pulled this year. Or not. We'll see.

I'll be on holiday until the beginning of September, and then, then, then, my body will be ready to start this game anew from where we left off, if y'all still interested! :D

TL;DR:
Life got turned on its head, but I'm back on my feet now. I'll be back home in September and ready to start again where we left off, if you still want. I hope you do! Super excited to continue with this!

P.S.
Master, that website looks great at first glance. I'll be sure to check it out. It would certainly streamline certain features if someone already made a whole program dedicated to this type of gaming...!

Wow, you've certainly been a busy go-getter, a belated congratulations on your successful show! And I hope you're feeling better rested now, it certainly sounds like you've been through a lot.

I'm still game for this, though I might need to review some of the material you sent when we started.
