Rayman 3 Problem

Post by AndresFn »

Today I bought Rayman 3 in GOG.com, I installed it correctly, but when I want to launch the game, it says "Please run the Rayman III setup". I can't play Rayman 3, but Rayman 1/2 has not problems. Any help?

PD: Srry for bad english.

There should be another program in the Rayman 3 group, called Setup or Configuration or something. You'll need to run that before you can play.

I tried running the setup, running as admin, running with Windows XP/7 compatibility, but no one worked D:

That's really strange as it should work out. I tested in two machines with both Windows 7 and Windows 10 and the game plays correctly.

Is there a file called ubi.ini in C:\Windows\UbiSoft ?
Are you using Windows 8 or 10 by the way?

That looks all right. What's inside the "ubi" file?

I think this is from my Rayman M game.

I can record a video to show you that this is real, I searched this error on Google and I think I am the only one who has this error D:

I used to play this game on Dolphin Emulator, but it lags a bit. So Its not good for speedrunning (I'm starting on it)

Edit: Here is the error video:

Ah, the ubi.ini is from Rayman M. So maybe the Rayman 3 Setup can't read/write it. Maybe you should try renaming it and then running the Rayman 3 Setup.

Also please don't double-post. You can multi-quote people by scrolling back through the topic review when typing your message.

I tried renaming it with the rayman 3 names and directory and that did not work. I tried uninstalling Rayman M and 3, then installing Rayman 3 again and the same problem appears

PD: Sorry for the Double-post, I'll be more careful next time

Try installing the game in a different directory.

Very odd. Does anyone know if there's some kind of security lock-down that was added in a recent Windows update? Try uninstalling both games and delete the entire C:\Windows\UbiSoft folder, if it's still there. Then reinstall Rayman 3 first.

I did this and I fixed the error! The "Please Run the Rayman 3 Setup" don't appear anymore but the game doesn't launch :'(

Has a Ubi.ini file been created now? If so, does it contain the Rayman 3 info?

If you change a setting, does it save the next time you open the configuration program? Also, is there a ubi.ini file located in C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Ubisoft

The configuration program just does not start (Like in the video I posted before). In that location there isnt any Ubisoft folder.

Oh, I didn't see that was the issue. Then you should be able to manually create a ubi.ini file in both locations with the following:
[Rayman3]
Gli_Mode=1 - 1024 x 768 x 32
Adapter=0
TnL=1
TriLinear=1
Identifier=D7B78E66-4226-11CF-CB63-C836B4C2C735
DynamicShadows=0
StaticShadows=0
Video_BPP=32
Video_WantedQuality=2
Video_AutoAdjustQuality=1
Camera_VerticalAxis=5
Camera_HorizontalAxis=2
VignettesFile=Vignette.cnt
TexturesQuality=32
TexturesCompressed=0
Language=English
I'm not sure if the identifier will differ though since I'm not sure what that's doing exactly. And of course you'll have to change it to your resolution etc.

Did you run R3_Setup_DX8.exe BEFORE YOU LAUNCHED R3 ?
This is important to set Ubi.ini file for Rayman3 play. In your previous posts, it is very uncertain whether you had RUN R3_Setup_DX8.exe or not
