Re: Star Wars
Carrie Fisher has passed away, I hope it was peaceful.
Re: Star Wars
Just watched Rogue One, holy crap it was a surprisingly dark story, kinda makes me wonder how it looked like before reshooting.

Re: Star Wars
I still haven't seen Rogue One. I just saw the trailer for the next half of Rebels Season 3, and it looks pretty awesome:

Bumping, here we go again:
Re: Star Wars
The last Star Wars was such a deception for me that I don't really even know if I have to launch the video.
In addition I still gotta watch Rogue One.

Re: Star Wars
Hmm, what exactly do you mean by "deception?" I'm guessing you're referring to the similarities to the original Star Wars film? It's a fair point, and I know some are already beginning to compare this new one with Empire Strikes Back. I'm still enjoying them regardless, though I can understand why there might be points of contention.
Anyways, fresh off the heels of the new episode trailer, a new trailer for the Star Wars:Rebels cartoon has emerged: And...it's the final season. Bit of a shame, I felt that Rebels had only just got into its stride with the end of Season 2 and through Season 3. I hope this final Season 4 can maintain it, though still a bit sad.

Re: Star Wars
I think "deception" is Frenglish for "disappointment".

It is.

Re: Star Wars
Ah, fair enough then. Though it did feel that Inco liked Kylo Ren, at least, if memory serves, his helmet.

Okay, episode 8 can go fuck himself, I won't even watch that trailer, I didn't even bought the latest battlefront games. It was so much of a... Erm... disappointment.
To be honest episode 7 was for me a missed fusion between A new hope, star trek and the guardians of the galaxy.Master wrote:Hmm, what exactly do you mean by "deception?" Just the costume. Nothing of the character though.Master wrote:Ah, fair enough then. Though it did feel that Inco liked Kylo Ren, at least, if memory serves, his helmet.

Re: Star Wars
Ah yes, it was directed by the guy behind the Trek reboots, if memory serves. He's not directing this one, though, but I think he's still involved. Make of that what you will.
As for Battlefront, yeah, I did hear how folks were disappointed about it being a mostly online game as opposed to one with a campaign and online. I haven't seen the Battlefront II trailer, mind. I'll go give that a lookie now for some perspective: EDIT: Oh, so this one does have a single player campaign. And it's a post Return of the Jedi plot in the perspective of the Empire. I have to say, that actually sounds pretty interesting.

Re: Star Wars
EA games sabotaged "Galaxy in turmoil" so they don't even have to expect me watching any trailer of their battlefront games remakes, and a great part of the battlefront community thinks the same.

Re: Star Wars
Bump.
Well I got invited to go watch Rogue One with some of my friends in a couple of weeks. I've never watched any of the Star Wars movies, so I better do some kind of research about the series, if it's even necessary. Looking forward to watching it nonetheless.

Re: Star Wars
I have to say, Rogue One is a fucking excellent begenning to get introduced to the series, in fact I have enjoyed it like I rarely enjoyed a Star Wars, you should watch the 4,5 and 6 first, then rogue one, and afterwards the 1,2 and 3 (prequel).
But huhh, the 4 got a little bit old (seventies) so don't be surprised, it gets really awesome in the 5 (the empire strikes back) and then it goes down just a little bit (6 return of the jedi, ewoks made it a bit childish and that one looks a little bit like an opera but is still good) and for the prequels, the 1 - phantom menace, is probably the worst of all with the 7 (force awakens, which deeply sucked like a Hollywood blockbuster) but is absolutely vital to understand the events that are gonna happen, the 2 : Attack of the Clones, is good, has some very good elements, but I think the relationship between Anakin and Padme is a negative point of the movie, and looks a bit childish in my opinion, and the 3, my God the 3, corrects all the defects the series could have had, and puts you in the darkest episode, and in my opinion one of the best, no spoil here.
Here you have it, my fancy expertise, hope it will be useful to you !

Re: Star Wars
I wouldn't say that Rogue One is a good entry point for the series at all. If you see it knowing nothing about the Jedis, the Empire and the Rebellion, you'll get confused on many levels. The best starting point remains A New Hope.
Also, I have opinions on your opinions of 2, 3 and 7, but that's another issue.

Re: Star Wars
No, I didn't wanted to say that rogue one was a good starting point, but simply that it would give a good overall impression about the quality of the franchise.
Re: Star Wars
Episode 7 and especially Rogue One felt like really calculated, formulaic movies that are more centered around keeping the brand marketable than delivering anything exciting. Rogue One completely lacked interesting characters (Remember all the memorable scenes of spiritual asian man and long-haired asian man?) to the point where even Jyn seemed like they didn't know how to write her (she's a cool bad girl sort of, sometimes) and relied on "My father!" to carry herself through her movie. Space ship fights, storm trooper battles, Darth Vader cameo, comic relief robot, it's all riding off of the success of 35 year old movies and struggling to introduce new elements. Rogue One's "different" artistic approach boiled down to not having an intro scroll, not playing the standard soundtrack and making it play out more like an actual war movie...none of which impacts the final product in any significant way, at least not a good one.
So of course, the Last Jedi trailer promises us space fights, something something the force, pulling old actors out of the cabinet again, and a return to a previously seen environment. Maybe a big, epic reveal like "han solo is actually luke's mom!"? Heuuughhn. I'm much more excited for Guardians 3 than Episode 8, the Han Solo movie, Episode 9, the R2D2 movie, Episode 10, the C3-PO origin story, Episode 11, the Obi-Wan movie, Episode 12, the Emperor's childhood movie, Episode 13...

Re: Star Wars
I watched this one at the conference and I think it looks more exciting than the first one although I guess the main question for me is how much season pass/dlc stuff are they going to eventually push through.
