Would you pay more taxes if it meant receiving a pension when you retire?

Yes, the state should guarantee a pension for its citizens.

Yes, but a mixed model would be more efficient (50% state + 50% private pension plan, for example).

No, the state does not have to manage my money; I prefer to have it myself and opt, for example, for a private pension plan.

Sounds eye-watering when you write it down but on the other hand, you would expect someone to be able to bench their own weight. I just wish I weighed 145kg!

Now that I think about it, I have no clue how much I'm able to bench press. I never go to the gym.

Although I am able to do at least one pull-up so that means at least my own weight.

Not that I'm an expert or anything, but it doesn't actually mean that. If you can only manage one pull-up, I think it's unlikely you'd bench your own weight (but I'm sure you could do more than one if you're even moderately fit).

I think it has something to do with which muscles you use, when you do a push up you use more muscles than a bench press so even though it's the same weight a bench press requires more strength.
Not that I really know anything about exercise, I don't do it myself. I just vaguely remember hearing that in a PE lesson once so I might be wrong :oops2:

I'm pretty out of shape in general right now, though my skiing legs/piano forearms are pretty strong. Even though I'm good at jumping and climbing and I can bang out quite a few pull-ups in a row, I can't sprint for shit. It's probably what I'm worst at - I die, take forever to recover, then doubledie for the next decade. Like seriously, I don't think anything tires me out as badly and as quickly.
Ambidextroid wrote:I like arm wrestling, I don't think I've ever lost one before but I haven't arm wrestled anyone in a long while. I suppose I always feel a little uncomfortable asking someone because it's the sort of thing people do to prove their strength, while I just find it fun. Then again I suppose it's not really a sport...
Yeah I agree, it's a lot of fun. The only time I've lost that I can recall was when I went up against one of my friends who's been playing Rugby all his life and lifts boulders for work. Though, I'm pretty sure I'd lose against anyone who really works out their arms on a regular basis.

I'm curious though, do some people have some physiological cave-in that makes them act weaker than they are? Let's say you're arm-wrestling, or even just wrestling: is there something about the pressure against their bodies that makes some people recoil or collapse, rather than going until their muscles actually give?

It's a good point, because I kind of have the opposite effect. I've never really exercised a day in my life and my arms are more flab than muscle, yet I've not lost an arm wrestle even against some of the seemingly strongest kids in my year. I have a feeling the extra weight from the flab actually helps...
Then again my school backpack weighs an absolute tonne and a half as I can never be bothered to sort it out each morning and I end up bringing every book and piece of paper I've ever written on to school every day, so maybe I've been unknowingly strengthening my arms this whole time :proud:
Or more likely developing long term back problems :oops2:

I used to play the piano and It seems much more intuitive to me than any brass, woodwind or other string instrument. I also love church organ music so I would have picked that, but I can understand why it's not there seeing as I doubt many people play the church organ these days

I'm an acoustic guitar guy. I'm going to learn how to play it next school year! :D

I also like the lap steel guitar (love the sound) and piano.

I appreciate the inclusion of the bagpipes which are indeed very awesome. :mryellow:

Otherwise I am rather fond of flutes and violins- especially solos of the two instruments. Also not up there which I don't know if it fully counts as an instrument but music boxes I like very much.

I have to say, picking a "favourite" instrument is very difficult for me. I decided I'd go with the flute and piano. The flute is the only one that I'd really thought of before this poll came up. It's a really beautiful sound. And I picked the piano because, well, I play it, and enjoy doing that for the most part.

Bench press is a pushing exercise, so its bodyweight equivalent would be something like a push-up. I've seen estimates that say you're "bench-pressing" 60-70% of your BW when you do a normal push-up.

No Jewish folk?

(Of course the movie moment I was looking for isn't available on Youtube. I'm gonna have to put it there myself apparently)

Jesus Christ, I didn't know so many genres existed. I find it hard to categorise my taste actually, I just like upbeat alternative techno music that has a memorable melody.

I was considering on adding folk sub-genres, including different countries, but I felt "Folk" alone was good enough. My bad.

No vaporwave or future funk? :mefiant: Or trance for that matter which is my actual favourite.

Otherwise I voted for all the electronic/techno choices, and metal. :mryellow:
