Post by Keane »

Serza5, I appreciate your talking in this thread, but perhaps reading the following will explain to you some thoughts of me, and Incognito, for this game and what it means to us. Surely you love Rayman too like I do, and he does, and we all do, and will find that this game, Rayman 4, simply needs to happen. You may think that no we shouldn't do it but, realise that this pettition does not ask for a Legends 2 or Rabbids game, it asks for a genuine, proper sequel to Rayman 4 alright? I have some thoughts and ideas to share on this topic. First of, I want to start off by saying I completely, 100% endorse this idea and think a public push of RaymanPC has always been the necessary way to get Rayman 4 made - I mean, how else will Ubisoft bother to work on it if we don't channel our interest? We're the biggest Rayman community out there and I think even people outside RaymanPC would be interested to participate, I've seen people everywhere say they loved Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 and want another game in that style. See, Origins and Legends are both great games I really enjoy but, just doesn't beat the originals for me. The visuals, the music, the gameplay, it was a very unique platformer series that really stood out and I would love to see what modern day Ubisoft would do with those concepts. See I was talking about this with my good friend Marta Banus the other day actually, who said she also wanted a proper Rayman 3 sequel that would bring back what we love about that game - she even suggested that the Knaarens come back and leave their caves to invade the Glade of Dreams, and then she drew a picture of it. I think that's a great idea, but personally I've always felt the best way to go about this is to return everything from the previous games: Mr. Dark, Razorbeard and Andre, all teaming up to fight Rayman and get their revenge. I see this game as a celebration of the series, with at heart the tubular Michel Ancle. My idea is that Rayman wakes up on a shore and he's lost, and it turns out all his friends are kidnapped and he must save them. Rayman goes on a quest visiting all famous locations of the Glade: Band Land, The Cave of Skaarj, British Columbia, The Boglands, Clearleaf Ruins, The Evil Pirate Ship. Yes, some of these are not classic locations actually, but I think game would take place 1000 years after Rayman 3 so much of what once was is now long gone and for example when visiting Clearleaf Forest (Now Clearleaf Ruins) you see ruins of old trees that used to be there. British Columbia is a reference to Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - we might not love that game, the rabbids ruined Rayman and should NOT be in any of his games ever again, but he did canonically visit the real human world so I think if this celebrates Rayman the series than it should be in there. In the woods of British Columbia there could be a meeting with famous historic Canadians, like for example Tim Horton and Ganondorf. Assuming Globox is kindapped still in this part of the plot, Justin Trudeau would temporarily fill his role and have Globox's moveset. Also, you may be wondering about the world I said was called The Evil Pirate Ship. This would be the final world of the game, where Rayman fights Mr. Dark, Razorbeard and Andre. So, another thing I want to talk about with this game is how can we get the public to talk about this more? I think 8 people is a good start and I mean, that's already 480 dollars for Ubisoft there but, what if 1000 people signed this petition? Ubisoft could make a million dollars. I think posters and flyers might help, tell friends/family, public events. I know that sounds like a stretch but consider this: You tell everyone at school classic gamers will have a fun event at the park this weekend, and then the event is you show them how fun and good Rayman 3 was and tell them if they sign the petition it will get sequel. Unfortunately the new games and the stupid dumb Rabbids have distracted people and if we show them how fun Clearleaf Forest (which could be Clearleaf Ruins if we get Michel Ancle (Creator of some the best games if you don't know him, he made Rayman 1, Rayman 2, part of Rayman 3, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends, which were all great games even if the first three are better than Origins and Legends) was and how they could play another world like that. Reaching out to YouTubers could help to, if we all tweeted to Angry Video Game Nerd to do an episode where he thinks Rayman 3 will be a bad game but then he plays its and is like "Wow, this game is the first time I've played something good" that would be funny and surprise people, and they might go play Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc too and also want this sequel for the game. I mean, imagine what this might do for video gaming in general, Rayman was one of the best game series of its time and with new technology like VR and 3D this could become the first game to start the future. Ubisoft would be really happy and then, as a result, make more Rayman games! We've always dreamed of a Rayman 4, but a Rayman 5 would be an even greater dream that would be so fun. RaymanPC would also get many more users as a result of this, which leads me to question why Adsolution does not want to sign our great petition. Do you not want Rayman 4? Anything is possible if you put your mind to it, alone we are small but together we are big. If a lot of people loved each other the world would be a better place, Adsolution, so please sign this petition and shove at the table with a chair?! 8) See, it is simply wrong to assume it's too late for a Rayman 4 when over the years I think just more people play it and want a sequel. Young kids of the new generation will go back and play Rayman 3 too, and they will all want this sequel to happen. It's only a matter of time, I think Ancle will agree Rayman 3 was the best game ever made of his and make another one, but I agree this good petition would speed up that process. Beyond Good And Evil is just not as good as Rayman, and I think because Legends is more recent than that game it would be good if Ancle made Rayman 4 instead because more people still have Rayman fresh in the brain. I also think art, music, and crafts would help get our message out. What if we got Coldplay to write a song about this game? They like video games I would guess because they like art and fun, both of which are Rayman 3 and leads me to believe lead singer Chris Cornell would have played this game too. I also think this game needs to be darker. Yes, Origins and Legends are silly, but that has been so for two games now, it is time for a serious Rayman again with an epic tale to tell. You never play with serious music like you do in Rayman 3 when playing Origins and Legends, which upset me some for sure. Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 tell stories of love, hate, adventure, sadness, and all the characters feel as if they could be real and my friends or enemies, which makes the games so real. Origins and Leggger just didn't have quite that same touch and was an unfortunate truth/reality for those games. I also think Incognito speaks a real good point here, which is: People simply want a 3D Rayman game. However, I want to add to this message that people don't want it be just 3D they also want it to be like Rayman 3. You see, if the new Rayman 3D game was just like Origins of Legends than it would be like those games in 3D, not like Rayman 3. Rayman 3 had a unique story and feel that cannot be in a game like Oregon and Legends, so if they make a 3D new Rayman game it should be just like Rayman 3 because that was when the series was at its peak too. When you tell a story like the Rayman 3 Demo disc inside a cereal box, that is a real story behind a video game and you can see how someone remembered this part of their life because the game was just that good. I too remember when I got Rayman 3: I went to the store and bought the game and came home and played it and it was a really good really fine experience for me personally. Rather. I encourage once more all people on RaymanPC to sign this petition, tell your buddies at school, call your congressman/woman to tell them they should sign this petition too. This will have to be a world effort, and it might fail, but I am prepared to sweat the road and take the acts to make sure this game becomes a true reality. Rayman 3 is my favourite game of all time, and it has a place in my heart, something Rayman Raving Rabbids did not have unfortunately. I wish only for Rayman 4 to be made and to have no Rabbids and to return the Hoodlums, the best enemies of any video game I've played in my entire life. Just writing this post I am thinking of all the memories: The first time I defeated Reflux, it made me feel like I was a legitimate hero and had saved the world. The first time I used the combat fatigues, and realised I had a gorgeous green outfit on. I just love this game, it does things like that you know? Make you laugh, make you cry. To conclude with a final, very sincere point here: Michel Ancle, if you ever read this post or see our petition, know that we are fans for life and will support your Rayman 4 game at all costs. I used to know a kid who wanted to die really hard and jumped off a bridge, a sad story I know, and then? I showed him Rayman 2: Revolution, your game, and it cheered him up. That is the power of video games, and especially Rayman 1, Rayman 2, and Rayman 3. They change people. You can make a fun video game, or you can make Rayman 4, and it will feel like it comes from Captain Falcon. If we don't believe in Rayman 4, do we really believe in video games at all? Everyone's worried about video games being bad. Well, there's a simple solution for it - stop making bad games and make a new 3D Rayman game that's not like Rayman Raving Rabbids or Rayman Origins! So I raise my hand and light my fire, and say to all you out there: Let's go eat Denny, huh. I stand up and say yeah, yeah, yeah. Destroy this city of delusion. Break these walls down. Do you realise that Rayman 3 has the most beautiful graphics?? Do you realise we're floating in a world without a sequel to that game? :confus: Also just as a final pointed note here: I would like if maybe The Longest Shortcut got a sequel? This time, when you enter that world its overrun by Hoodlums, the opposite of what is in Rayman 3. I think that wold be a great idea, as it would be a funny play on what you would expect from that world and yeah, it's just a very great topic to ponder on. I mean, that is the kind of thinking a Rayman 4 could have behind it. Rayman 1, Rayman 2, Rayman 3, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Galaxy, Minecraft, these are the greats of video gaming, and it is time Rayman got another game in that category. It's been many years since Minecraft came out first, and we have not had a game of that standard since, and even then no game on that list that isn't Rayman 3 has gotten close to being as good as it even though they're all good games, even Rayman 2 which is the next best good game on the list followed by Rayman 1. Every game improved, with Rayman 3 being the best there ever was. I invite you, challenge you, whatever you may prefer for a word there, to do this Michel Ancle! Don't let anyone get you down! Don't let anyone get out down! You can't do this! Alright! Or as Rayman would say in Rayman 1 - YES!!! Oh, and another point I should mention real quickly is that Rayman 4 should maybe work so that enemies from Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 return on top of the Hoodlums. Yes, that is a bitch much, but I think we can handle it. This is the 4th game after, it should have more content than previous installments. Really, this should probably be the longest Rayman game too since we've waited to long and it's obviously going to try and (im sure succeed also!) surpass the previous games, which are already very good games. The music should contain remixes of previous games, original music, just regular tunes from previous games, and NO POP MUSIC like the Rabbids games had!!! I didn't like that very much, I mean Rayman is about magic and adventure why would he have pop music in his game? It's about experiencing, exploring, running, jumping, swinging, that is the art of Rayman and another game to live in that spirit would do wonders for everything. People say Yooka-Laylee failed to make the return of 3D platformers happen so, why not have Rayman try and do it then? Rayman is very qualified, he has a science PhD. I've said this a couple times now but I want to reinforce this idea just one more time: Rayman 4 could be the best game ever, the sequel we all want, and change gaming forever, if we just sign that petition and have our voices be heard. Ubisoft, please, I am begging you, make your dreamiest dreams come true and end our screamest screams. It could be called Rayman 4: Dark's Revenge, Rayman 4: Return of the Evil, or even Rayman 4: The Long Quest! A game that I would with any of those titles, I'd probably buy it the first day it came out and play it for hours and skip school just to play it more. It would probably cost 60 whole dollars, but I'd be prepared to give it that to play such an artistic piece of art. Really, that's just how much I want this Rayman 4 game to be a reality, and how much I've been wishing: It's been many years since Rayman 3, even longer since Rayman 2, and it would be nice if there was closure on that series of games you know? Think about it, Murfy even says "See you in Rayman 4!" - well, he was in Legends, but that game ain't no Rayman 4! Imagine now, after all this waiting: Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years, that sentence would finally speak truth. It's kind of poetic when you think about it like that, huh? :) I look with shame when I see that Rayman 3, such a beautiful game, has not had a real sequel and been given what it deserves. So hard must Ubisoft have worked on making that game, and yet today it remains without a sister to accompany it in history. Don't get me wrong, Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 are almost excellent games but Rayman 3 promised that there was energy, passion and quality left for this series!! It really, does, just, make you think at times about what could've been, but this pettition will ensure that we don't have to think about it anymore when it becomes real! This is Keane, formerly RayTunes, signing in for the fight for Rayman 4, all for one and one for all! Justice! Rayman 4, let's make you REAL!!! I'm so ready for this, so ready to play a real game without pesky Rabbids ruining everything, or to have Origins 3 instead which would also be a fun game just not quite as fun as Rayman 4 you understand what I'm saying? Origins and Legends were good games but, it just didn't quite match what Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 and their 3D wolds could create and do for me. I remembering 7 and first playing Rayman 3, that changed my life. Now I am here for the future generations saying YES, I want to give them an experience like that too and make it even better. Rayman 4, I 100% completely endorse you in any way possible and pray to god and jesus that this petition will work. Thank you for listening and reading Michel Ancle, thank you for the fun games and nostalgic good memories, and I hope so much you will aid us in this goal to triple all the positive things you've created for people like myself and the rest of this beautiful community. One day my grandchildren will ask about Rayman 4, and I will tell them about this thread and petition and how it all started. History is being made today, and it is VERY good history. At incredible hihg speed, even. Yay! Let's not fight now guys, we cannot get angry and lose sight of what we might be onto here, there is a good future for our community and Rayman waiting for us to create it and I think we can do this if we work together and sign the petition. That cereal box with the Rayman 3 Demo disc might just be a metaphor for life and happiness. C'mon, let's fight this war. Let's ask for Rayman 4 and show we are interested, we are united, we are in for this. I bet Ubisoft would be really happy to see us so excited for their games and try to make it best game ever. If there were no Rabbids in it and there is Mr. Dark, Razorbeard and Andre in it that would also make it really good, please I ask of you kindly to include that in the game and not make Origins 3 because that would be a great game just not as great as what Rayman 4 could be.

I give this thread a big, big thumbs up. :D

In my eyes, this is one of the problems, there are people who want a new 3D game, but just won't do anything about it, just because it seems hopeless.
And then there are people who do what they can to support the idea of somehow continue to show interest in a new game.

And that raises the question, if Ubisoft ever consider making a new game (Without announcing it) what they will look at is what the potential of the new game will have. If they see that people doesn't really seem to care much for a new 3D game, they might not wanna make one.
But if people continue to be involved and trying to get the attention mentioned earlier, what Ubisoft will see is that there are still people who really want a new 3D game, and in this case the petition will be a potential factor in the future (If enough people sign).

When the petition I made reaches 100 signers, Ubisoft will be notified by Change.org, and that is a step in the right direction, no matter if it works or not :)
And if even more than 100 people sign, it will have a larger impact.

Though, I'm not gonna convince anyone to sign if they don't want to, but I just expected more people to actually do it.
As some of you mentioned earlier, Ubisoft knows about the fans who makes comments and posts on the Fan pages, but in my perspective what is missing is that we could gather those people in one place, make a petition and make a larger impact for the future.

My lord, I've never read such a moving and impassioned plea. How long did you spend crafting such a meticulous and heartfelt message?

In that case, they've already received a petition: https://www.change.org/p/ubisoft-we-want-3d-rayman-game

No, that petition needed 500 for Change to do anything, because the person who made the petition selected both Ubisoft and Gameloft, which requires 500 in total.

I stand corrected. But even so, I'm not convinced. Between the constant calls for Rayman 4 on the Rayman Facebook, to the screenshot Dart provided, I don't get the impression that Ubi's ignorant of widespread calls for a new Rayman game.

They are ignorant for now, and who know's what a petition could lead to. (Yet there haven't been any on that site that had enough signs for change.org to notify them)
I'm also very curious to see what their response would be.

What would it take for you to be convinced? There's no point of doing a petition if Ubisoft starts to be less ignorant of the calls for the new game, the reason a petition is needed is to break through their ignorance! :)

I've got to agree here. And petitions like this already existed in the past and gave in nothing (and it isn't just Rayman but pretty much everywhere else in subjects of identical matter).

Anyway, I am fed up of people that have their minds still living in 2006/2007. Rayman 4 exists and it is called "Rayman Origins". Period. Deal with it once and for all.

As for a new 3D Rayman, I'll keep just waiting while life goes on. That's what I've been doing since 2003.

100% agreed.

I'd settle for a remastered Rayman 2 right about now. That would be just super.

Doesn't really matter to me what they would call a new 3D game. To me it would make more sense to call it Rayman 4, since that was the original plan, but that concept got canceled and turned into Raving Rabbids. And then later the Origin and Legends games. So I have nothing to "Deal with" in that case.

And I'm not sure what you mean with having the mind living in 2006/2007?

The issue with petitions for this sort of thing are that they don't really... demonstrate anything. Petitions are usually, effectively used for gauging the prevalence of a certain viewpoint where there are contrasting opinions, or bringing to light issues that have been swept under the rug or authorities weren't aware of.

Can you think of anyone who wouldn't want a new Rayman game? It's stating the obvious. It's a video game, entertainment at no one's expense. Anyone can sign a petition with minimal effort, and doing so gives no indication of whether or not you'll even buy whatever it is that's being petitioned for. What matters is whether it'll be a profitable investment for Ubisoft, and getting a couple hundred (or even a couple thousand) signatures doesn't in any way demonstrate that. Even if a new 3D game does end up being made, it'll likely be in no part due to petitions.

The reason I said I don't want to be associated with the petition is because of that - people could see my signature and think that I have my head in the clouds, or that I don't have a better idea. I find it actively counterproductive.

Personally, the only 3D Rayman game I care about at the moment is my own fangame. I'm not not saying that to be selfish or arrogant, I've just gone in so deep that I literally can't look to the stars in wonder for a new 3D Rayman game anymore. Even if one came out, it'd likely be in a very different style/tone than what I'm after, and the fact that it's Rayman doesn't cut it as a gimmick for me anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I understand your points, and that petitions very rarely changes anything when it comes to companies and game developers. And that Ubisoft already are aware of that people want a new game, and like you said, who wouldn't?

But what I want to do, rather than just sit and wait is to gather the community and do something. How? Well I was never sure until I tried to create a petition, this can be my first step in being involved in the community with the goal of a new 3D platformer, that so many people already want. What many individuals do is to write on the fan page, on comments saying that they would like a new game. And clearly, Ubisoft knows about this (They claim that themselves) but if everyone would be involved together it would make a bigger difference.

And the Fan game you are making, is also something that Ubisoft will have in thought when considering to make a new 3D game, and this is something I also appreciate, because it creates a new life for Rayman as a 3D game, and who knows, Ubisoft might even need your help in the future :)

You're trying to gather the community, but you probably noticed by now it isn't working very well. I think most of the community has more or less moved on to other things. While a new 3D Rayman would be super cool and we would all buy it, there currently aren't enough people who really want it enough to spam Ubisoft's social media or sign petitions. Which isn't to say the demand isn't there - it's just that the community in general has grown tired after those 11-ish years of being disappointed by Rayman 4's cancellation and only getting 2D games while hearing about more cancelled 3D projects. This happens to any fanbase after the franchise has been dead long enough, though that doesn't stop them from being revived (Rayman isn't dead, but 3D Rayman is, and especially in the style of Rayman 3).

They cancelled their 3D Rayman project because Rayman Legends' sales were disappointing, so if you want them to make a new Rayman, get people to buy Rayman Legends on Switch. Not that that game will sell well anyway...

I think Ubisoft still did not understand the many issues that contributed for the weak sales of Legends despite of the game being better than Origins. I think what we can hope is that Crash Bandicoot and Oddworld: Soulstorm will make them interested in doing remakes or getting other derivate ideas but... we are talking about Ubisoft so anything can happen (or not). Though I still find hilariously bad that their plan to fix the issue is a definitive edition on Switch but who knows if we are having a surprise in the E3? Though I would be lying if I was saying "Yeah I am absolutely sure and excited because they are bringing a lot of new things on it", I am sceptical about the near nothing we know about it. Expanded Kung Foot? Best plan ever to fix weak sales and convince people to repurchase the game. This will sell more than FIFA2018!

As for "having the mind living in 2006/2007" is because back then everyone was asking for a Rayman 4 given the project got replaced with the roedent mini-games. This argument loses its sense since 2010 for reasons we all know now, hence why I think people that still ask for a Rayman 4 seem to be living under a rock. We are in 2017 guys, the first RRR game is almost 11 years old and things happened. Update yourselves!

I'm afraid I have to agree with Haruka on pretty much everything here.

I've been getting some nice response on Social media and there's quite a few that wanna sign, and we've now reached 10.

I'm also planning to make a video on Youtube about it so that people can find the petition easier, because that seems to be one of the problems because I'm not gonna put a link in a comment for example.

I've actually tried to find out whether Origins is "Rayman 4" or not, but didn't really find anything, so I asked Ubisoft again. (The support responsible for the Rayman games still)

Thank you for your reply. Rayman Origins is not Rayman 4, that's the simple answer. Rayman 4 only reached the prototype stage and then shut down. Probably some elements are taken from there and used in Origins, but it does not mean it is Rayman 4 just because of that.

He also mention that this doesn't necessarily mean a future 3D game would be named Rayman 4, and that they can't tell what a new Rayman 3D game would be called, which makes totally sense. :)

Rayman Origins is a sequel to Rayman 3. It is "Rayman 4" in that regard. What's been described there is the "Rayman 4" that was made by Pheonix Interactive, which will probably never see the light of day.

This is the point I was aiming for when I talk about the term "Rayman 4" if there was still any doubt about it.
