I say an upgrade on a pi is a very bad idea, it breaks a lot of things especially if you have installed special hardware on it, like a 3.5 TFT touchscreen as an example among many.

+ I'll probably be buying a PS4 Pro with Persona 5 next payday.
+ Lots of great programming and interface design practice. I'm definitely gonna take some of what I've learned these last two weeks and improve RayTwol's workflow, starting with actual custom interface modules. ;D

- I thought my coworker was going to be back from vacation today, but he's not in till Tuesday, meaning I'll have been by myself in the bullpen for six days.

When it comes to making something, success and popularity largely comes as a result of knowing what people want (regardless whether or not they already know they want it) and being able to deliver on it. I don't don't know what you're referring to specifically, but that's a very important thing for anyone creating something to remember, whether it's art, software, or whatever. Personal, esoteric projects can garner you a cult following, but that's again just creating something people in that niche want, which could just happen to be what you like making, or it it might not be.

Knowing how to market yourself is important too of course, but the two issues can be viewed as one and the same in this context.
