Huh, that's pretty interesting to find out. Fascinating.PluMGMK wrote:À propos of nothing, I just got around to trying out this unused/abandoned level in the first game: They make it look/sound decent in the video, but when you try the raw level yourself it's amazing how hacky and unfinished it is! You can get at it with a hacked savefile (for the PC version – extract into the main directory).

I'm still in the middle of watching this but we have Ancel showing of early alpha in game footage of BGE2. Some things of note already include : Main character select, customise your own char, camera feature returning, space ships & consequently space crew.

Incredible! He did sort of handwave the meteorites bit, but that's to be expected from something this early.

Hmm, I notice that the video is unlisted. Was this meant to be for the Space Monkeys only? And if so, why didn't I get a email? I know I've signed up for it.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Looks amazing. Cannot wait to see more of this game as it evolves. Saying that though, I hope the narrative isn't jeopardized in the name of custom characters.

I certainly hope that's not the case. But I doubt it, since there are annotations giving a link to sign up.Master wrote:Hmm, I notice that the video is unlisted. Was this meant to be for the Space Monkeys only? And if so, why didn't I get a email? I know I've signed up for it.

That's strange because it wasn't unlisted when I saw the video. If anything though this reminded me to eventually sign up.Master wrote:Hmm, I notice that the video is unlisted. Was this meant to be for the Space Monkeys only? And if so, why didn't I get a email? I know I've signed up for it.

It is. I got an email, so maybe it was just delayed for you?Master wrote:Hmm, I notice that the video is unlisted. Was this meant to be for the Space Monkeys only? And if so, why didn't I get a email? I know I've signed up for it.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil
I also got the e-mail, it looks great so far! Though, I regret to have watched it in fullscreen in the moment he was doing spins with the space-ship I immediately got motion sickness...
(Unfortunately this problem isn't new. I am also carsick since I can remember so everything is linked. Sensitive to movements...)

It's arrived now, guess they put the video up early? Anyways, I've been a bit busy, so I've still yet to watch it. I'mma watch it now.RibShark wrote:It is. I'm surprised with just the scope of this one planet- it really seems like this is more ambitious than I originally thought. Really looking forward to seeing more.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Right, gave it a watch, and man, concept-wise, it looks like Michel's got what he's wanted. If memory serves, he always did want to have an element of space exploration, but couldn't do it with the original, and thus we only got that scene when you fly to Hyllis' moon. Being able to fly around like he's demonstrated sounds pretty fun indeed.
That being said, part of me is a little worried about the sandbox element. It feels like we're reaching a point of fatigue with the prominence of the sandbox genre. I trust Michel to do it well, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the many games he's helmed, but I can't help but feel a slight twinge of anxiety. Obviously it's just early days, we have very little idea of what the meat of the game will hold, so I guess time will tell.
Finally, given the tech, I'm wondering how true those Switch exclusive rumours are now...heck, part of me wonders if the Switch will be capable of running it at all.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
I'm pretty sure it won't be on Switch, that video practically confirms it. Switch isn't capable of that. They already announced though it will be on everything else.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil
How will this run on normal PS4s and Xbox Ones holy crap, I think my ps4 slim is going to explode

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
I'm sure they'll be able to optimize for consoles, granted it'll certainly look best on PC.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil
They'll be able to optimize the graphical part of it of course, but I have to wonder if the PS4's CPU will be strong enough to handle this. If they're going to have all these features, this game could turn out to be very CPU intensive, much moreso than the typical Elder Scrolls for example, which already has been limited by weaker console CPUst in the past.
Unless of course it's a PS5 game, and the PS5 has a better CPU.

It's a Ubisoft game, so downgrading the look of it is not out of the question.Drolpiraat wrote:They'll be able to optimize the graphical part of it of course, but I have to wonder if the PS4's CPU will be strong enough to handle this. Re: Beyond Good & Evil
I wasn't talking about the graphics, rather about the fact that it's a huge and dynamic game world. It's a universe simulation with the possibility of meteorites falling and leaving a mark on planets (presumably destroying whatever is on that side of the planet!), as well as leaving valuable materials behind that cause NPCs from everywhere on the planet and even from other planets to go after these materials. All while similar things may be happening on other planets somewhere far away in the simulation.Rayfist wrote:It's a Ubisoft game, so downgrading the look of it is not out of the question.
Sounds incredibly CPU-heavy.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil
Perhaps they might tone those things down as well.
