Re: The You Game!
< hopes that reference to the interview's length isn't a reflection on how it went. Either way, how did it go?

Re: The You Game!
< thinks it went fairly well despite how short it was
It was mostly < explaining what < did at uni when it came to games and going through the game < made for them
< didn't really answer too shortly for the questions it was more like they hardly asked any compared to past interviews

Re: The You Game!
< just realised Megatron's name is an oxymoron, "mega" meaning very big and "tron" being the suffix of a subatomic particle...

Re: The You Game!
< thought -tron was related to charge, not necessarily size. As in cyclotrons and synchrocyclotrons.

Re: The You Game!
Maybe you're right, though < thought the idea of -tron denoting charge came from the end of "electron", while originally the -tron in electron denoted a subatomic particle (for example the neutron has no charge yet ends with -tron) so <'d have thought the idea that -tron denotes charge was a bit of a misnomer. < guesses the -tron in "cyclotron" is in reference to it being a subatomic particle accelerator, rather than reference to the charge of the particles

Re: The You Game!
Well, you're going further back there. "Electron" is just the Greek word for "amber", and "neutron" is "neuter" with the "-on" suffix, which funnily enough formed neuter nouns/adjectives. But now < has looked it up apparently the "-on" in this case is just a subatomic particle thing, by analogy with "proton" and "electron".

Re: The You Game!
The electives < chose for the upcoming school year are music based; Guitar I which teaches the basics of playing the guitar (acoustic for <) and Music of the World which teaches music from different cultures as well as learning to read music, specifically sheet music.

< will look into it nonetheless.

RPC seems to be behaving for < now, < isn't sure if ^^^ has done anything yet, but <'s pretty happy to have it ended.

Re: The You Game!
Because < is a glutton for punishment < decided to write a threaded program in Python today.
Re: The You Game!
RPC seems to load normally again for < too. Thank you Hunch if you fixed it!

Re: The You Game!
The usual. Optical simulations. < was sick of them taking so long when < is running them on an eight-thread machine, so < decided to add some parallellism as part of a broader rework of the methodology of the simulation program.Serza5 wrote:< wonders what this is forPluMGMK wrote:Because < is a glutton for punishment < decided to write a threaded program in Python today.

Ah yes < has worked with threading before but with C++
< is amazed Python can support parallelism too

Re: The You Game!
< is past the point of being surprised Python can do anything. Which is why < still grudgingly uses it… But if < were writing <'s own programs from scratch they'd probably be in Perl.
< also broke a mug today.
