The September 12th date seems to be correct, since multiple retailers are now listing it along with an updated description and cover art. Still no word on what the Kung Foot update is exactly, but the port seems to be outsourced to Pastagames, the developers of Rayman Jungle Run. Guess that explains why we're not getting any other additions. Ubisoft Montpellier probably needs their full team on BG&E2.

Well, I would agree about Ubi Montpellier needing their full team on BGE2, but it just breaks my heart to see what a shambles this Rayman project is turning out to be. What on earth made them think they could live up to this "Definitive" appelation?

So it's effectively the Wii U/Vita version with a souped up Kung-Foot? A disappointing proposition indeed. Still, one can hope that it'll at least get some attention.

So lets go back to this interview:
So the "many surprises" is an expanded Kung-Foot? Only this? This is the Definitive Edition? I'm sorry but this is pathetic. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. That's not how you convince a Rayman fan to rebuy the game (or even digging a Switch to play an "improved" version of RL). And lets see if people that did not buy it are really going to buy this, given that the original sales were not that famous as we already know (and lets not forget the game had ports to systems that almost everybody has got). I hope they prove me wrong and show there is more stuff but I have lost hopes right now.

I do believe BG&E2 is the true priority now (and it is not a bad thing!).

You're preaching to the choir… Even if they do surprise us, the publicity's been handled so dismally that nobody will care anyway.

I would be okay if they released Kung Foot separately for 3 bucks with an online feature. That would have rocket league potential.

I dunno, Kung Foot is something I'd find more compelling on a smartphone, it's a more simple game compared to Rocket League. If they did make it a separate thing, I'd hope they'd at least give it significantly more detailed mechanics and gameplay. I know that's what the Definitive Edition promises, but whether they'll be as expansive as they imply, remains to be seen.

Apparently a demo came out for the definitive edition on the EU eShop today, but it was taken down. Seems it was published too early - it had a really bad sound stuttering bug when the Switch is docked. Hope that's fixed by the time the demo is published again. Here's some gameplay (with the sound bug): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8SsmDs_0jw
As expected though, the demo doesn't force you to play as Murfy, but does allow you to play as Murfy if you're playing in a special "Murfy mode" - so basically Wii U and X360/PS3 versions in one version.

Also, from the demo: https://abload.de/img/screenshot2017-07-24a8ksjt.png

Well. I guess that pretty much confirms it. Darn it Ubi, I know Rayman's not exactly a big seller, but I'd have loved for Legends to have had a proper second chance, especially after they rather stupidly put its release next to GTAV and other big releases.

So not even new skins for the characters? I'm very disappointed but oh well I don't know what I expected.

EDIT: I knew I read somewhere that there were going to be new skins and I found this "It includes the entire Rayman Legends game, along with new skins, levels, and other fun items." Do we know if there will be new levels or this was just assumption from redactors?

The funny thing is how the Rayman Facebook said that if this version sold well they would create a new Rayman game, I hope they said that ironically and they're going to make a new Rayman Game anyway.

The demo has the Avelina skin, and Mario and Luigi skins have been promised as well. I think all of the previously console-exclusive skins might be in the definitive edition (either that, or it's just the same old Wii U exclusive skins). Wouldn't expect any new levels though.

I mean what were you guys expecting honestly- it's a quick cash in port. Although this does have potential to be the better portable version than the VITA- I really see little point for majority of us who have probably played the game 3-4 times to really even be interested in this. I'll pick it up though when it becomes a bargain bin title.

I'd say people were expecting more than a quick cash-in port due to the "definitive edition" in the title. I don't think I've seen such a small upgrade (an AI and a new multiplayer mode for a meaningless minigame) for a "definitive edition" before.
Usually those versions come with some visual upgrades or all of the DLC, but RL was already beautiful visually and never had any DLC apart from the console exclusive skins (which may be included in this version). So really, there's not much such an edition could have added to the game (if they weren't going to go through the effort of addding in new levels/playable characters). But that doesn't make the "definitive edition" title and the price any better.

I feel like they should have thrown in a version of Rayman Adventures without the freemium stuff, or even a small selection of levels from the mobile games. It seems easy enough to do (no new assets needed), would justify the title and would convince some people to double dip.

Ubi's known for its love of porting, I think the point of contention, as Droolie said, is the "Definitive Edition" moniker. I wasn't expecting much, mind, but if you're going to give it such a subtitle, at least supply some content that justifies it. As it stands, the moniker feels like empty words.

Even with the "Definitive" subtitle I wasn't expecting much else in terms of new content- definitely not any new levels.

Rayman Adventures inclusion would have been cool though since I never played it.

Indeed, another thing to my list of why not to go to the beach:

✓Sharks.
✓Jellyfish.
✓Blue-ringed octopus.
✓Red Sea Dragon.

Jk.

At least the commercial is way better than the original ones released for Origins and even Legends itself. Who thought it was a good idea to call Snoop Dogg was probably a Mammago Garage worker.
