Re: Anime
Kill la Kill IS interesting. I just started watching it on Toonami recently, and, may I say, it's a wild ride. It's got fast-paced action, random encounters and dramatic scenes straight from Feels Town.Bradandez wrote:The only interesting anime I've seen was Space Dandy. And now it's finished and they're not gonna make any new episodes. Crap.
I heard Kill la Kill is interesting, might give it a go.
But, most of all, it's a big jumbled up mess of random comic-relief nonsense. Watching this anime is like going on a suspended rollar coaster with beer goggles on.
It was almost too much bare skin and craziness for me to get into, but I'm glad I decided to give it a chance. Just depends on the person whether Kill la Kill is top-notch or psychotic junk.
Re: Anime
I just checked, and it appears that The Pirate Bay is hosting a few rips of the subtitled DVD version of Only Yesterday. I've never used The Pirate Bay, so I have a few questions. Namely, is it very safe to download files from this site? Is it legal to do so if I eventually get around to buying a legitmate copy?

Re: Anime
Is it safe: probably, I think there's a reputation system, so check whether the torrent is good.
Is it legal: almost certainly not, in almost all countries.

Re: Anime
I see. Thank you for responding. As long as I eventually buy a legitimate copy, I see nothing wrong with it. Especially, considering this movie is not available for purchase in the US in any form, so it's not like I'm cheating the owner of the US distribution rights (Disney) out of any money.

I assure you, you are not in an alternate world. But if you are, say hi to Brad #Y-0979.Master wrote:Brad having a positive sentiment towards anime? I didn't wake up in a parallel world, did I?
And Kill la Kill being psychoticly crazy huh? Seems good enough for me.

Buzzfeed or not, this is what person who worked at Anime industry said.
Re: Anime
I'm trying to get the Studio Ghibli film, Only Yesterday, released here in North America. As I've already said, Disney refuses to release this film. However, Criterion might be able to purchase the distribution rights from Disney, and finally release the film here, they just need to be convinced to do so. You can send an email to Criterion regarding a film you wish to see them release in the future via the address [email protected]. The hope is to get enough people to send in emails requesting the release of the film, so that Criterion sees a large demand and is persuaded to pursue the rights. If you're interested in this, please send in a request and spread the word to other people by any means possible.

Japan's work system in general can be quite nasty.Bradandez wrote:Wow, Japan people can be so mean. My eyes have definitely been opened to their unfair ways thanks to this very credible article.
Anyway, I recently found Rokka and Nisekoi on Cruchyroll, they're pretty cool. ones a fantasy story the others a wierd romantic comedy/ slice of life story... good stuff.

Re: Anime
I watched a video by Anime America Podcast called Top Ten Romantic Anime Couples, and #2 was Tatara and Suzuno from Fushigi Yuugi, a couple whose love was so amazing they made number two even though they only had one episode to tell their story.
Fushigi Yuugi was an anime which, up until then, I had only heard the name of. But any anime that can make me cry is one I consider to be a good anime; I watched FIVE MINUTES of episode 43 to see if the TataraxSuzuno story could make me cry, and it DID!
Now I'm thinking I should give Fushigi Yuugi a try. What do you guys think?

Re: Anime
I thought this would be the perfect place to share an anime parody series I stumbled upon lately. It always cracks me up when I watch it, so give it a go. Not for homophobes btw.

Re: Anime
So record day people, do you watch anime?
If yes, what anime have you been watching lately?
If no, why not? There are a ton of good ones!
For myself, it's absolutely yes! I think the most well-known anime I've watched since last I posted here (2+ years ago) is One Piece. People are turned off by that 800 episode length, but to those who like anime I'd recommend trying it out anyway. It starts out okay but becomes absolutely fantastic. It's not your average shonen crap like Naruto - it has a lot of world building, character development, great music, and a really, really well-written and coherent story that is steadily progressing despite its length. Things are happening in the manga now that have been hinted at more than 10 years ago! I love it.

Re: Anime
Yes, I've been re-watching Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood with my brothers recently and a few days ago I watched K-On which was alright.
The best anime I watched recently was Foolie Coolie which is only 6 episodes long but it has a load of symbolism and a crazy story, it's really engaging and the music and visuals were incredible.
I also watched the movie Kimi no Nawa recently which was as good as people say, it has the top spot on MAL at the moment.

Re: Anime
I've been watching samples of Digimon Tri lately. At long last, consistent animation and Mega-Digivolving for everyone.
