Back in the days, I played Rayman 2 the Great escape for the ps1 When I was little. I Loved the enemies he faced. The mini Janos were my least favourite as a kid because They can grab you and eat you which scared me.

The original Rayman PC CD was included with a computer / video gaming magazine that I was once subscribed to.

Pretty sure Rayman 1 for PC was the first game I ever played, probably a present one of my brothers got. Rayman 2 for PC was the first game I owned myself which is where most of my love for the series began but I'd played Revolution before which was another one of my brothers' games, and the same deal for R3 on PS2.

For a while in 2003 I watched my older sister play the original Rayman on the PlayStation. When I got a little bit older I began to play the game myself.

I used to love watching my brothers play games, I have pretty vivid memories of my brothers paying LoZ Twilight Princess and I learned a lot of Pokemon theme tunes from listening to my brothers play

The first Rayman game I've ever played was Rayman 2 for PS1. I first played it in 2014. We still have the original legal copy of the game. Btw, we got it for free because one of my brothers' familiars had the game and got bored so he gave it to us.

It all goes back to, like, more than 10 years ago? I was only a small kid when I discovered Rayman 3 for the original XBox. Some time later I eventually picked Rayman 2 for the PC and loved both of them. It wasn't until some weeks ago from now that I recently came back to the series

Your introduction to Rayman

Post by Greeness »

The game that helped me originally discover the series was Rayman 3, it was around 2005 and I had the PC version which I sadly no longer own, the game amazed me with its surreal world, unique cast of characters, interesting platforming features and combat mechanics, after completing the game I played Rayman 2 which I loved even more for its darker tone, and Rayman 1 which I also liked despite its high difficulty.

Threads merged. And I guess I had previously thought there was another thread to merge with, since I never got around to responding to the topic itself!

Well, my first experience was buying "Maths & English with Rayman Volume 1" (Rayman Junior) in a GAME shop. I guess Dad thought it looked good, but there's no way we'd have left that shop with a noneducational game!
The thing probably took months to complete (or maybe it was just a couple of weeks, dilated by childhood memory!), complete with traumatic experiences of wrong answers, and frustration about the general difficulty of the platforming (often assisted by Dad). Yet somehow it made a deep impression on us both and since then I've been a staunch fan!

I watched my sister play the demo for Rayman 2 a few times, and learned to play myself that way. We both thought he was a dog for some reason. We played it with a joystick, which now seems like a relic of ancient times. After getting and beating Rayman 2, we went on to get Rayman Gold, in which we designed some levels and tried to beat Rayman 1... but we had no idea why the game stopped so abruptly after Skops. Only a year or so later when we got all of the cages, we were surprised that another level unlocked. My parents got me some of the educational games too, so I also played things like French with Rayman through trial and error because I could not understand French at the time.

I later downloaded the demo for R3 (which was really difficult with our internet). I played it a lot and was absolutely entranced by that Fairy Council level. I got that game on day 1. I also got Rayman M around the same time but wasn't able to run it on my own PC, so I had to visit my brother's house to play it on his PC. :P

I'll also edit my original post accordingly.

I was introduced to Rayman with the demo of Rayman Origins (3DS) and to be honest i died a lot because i had no idea about what to do in the levels more specifically "Playing in the shade" due to playing the 3 levels from "Swinging caves" to "Shooting me softly". it wasn't untill i somehow managed to get a PS1 emulator and a Rayman 1 for PS1 rom working that i went to play the rest of the series. (Yes that also includes raving rabbids series)

You found R1 doable, but got stuck in Origins? Interesting!

I used to play Rayman M all the time too, I thought the singleplayer content was really enjoyable for both modes and I feel like it stood out uniquely when compared to other mascot racing/party games.

I think we all tried to somehow fill up the void of platforming Rayman games not releasing until Origins with the RRR games, well at least that was the case for me.
