I seem to recall an incident when my MTI image disappeared just before voting started… And it was an attachment. Said image has reappeared in its rightful place since though, which probably wouldn't have happened were it externally hosted.

Compared to the thousands of images that have been lost permanently due to external hosting services shutting down or people closing their accounts, I can't say I find this argument very convincing.

Neither do I. It was a small blip. Still, for a while, those of us who hadn't used external hosts felt like idiots, which wasn't very pleasant. It was a long time ago though!

That's odd, since it gets its results from Google. Must be a delay between stuff showing up in Google's "targeted" searches and on whatever API they use.
