I highly, highly recommend it, it's my favourite version of Rayman 2, partly because it's such a nice, quite different take on the game. I think you really should go for it, it's awesome.

Little update! There's a hole in the invisible wall over to the left. It is in fact possible to get into the Echoing Caves side! But to do so and stay alive requires repositioning two purple lums. This leaves one purple lum in its normal position, from which unfortunately RayTwol can't move it. This position happens to be just out of reach, just past the location of a green lum. So once you get to that green lum, you're stuck! Perhaps a video would illustrate this better… :oops2:

I managed to get over the wall using a moonjump cheat once. If you enter the Echoing Caves before you've actually unlocked it, then complete it, you'll be taken to the Hall of Doors with only the Precipice to chose from (you can't move back since the Echoing Caves hasn't actually been unlocked). Choosing the Precipice will then warp you to the Bayou (if the level has not yet been played on the current save) due to that using the same location of the intro cutscene (the ship). Basically, instead of playing the intro cutscene depending on the level, it plays the next one in order. So if the Bayou intro has not yet been seen it will show that one instead. Once the cutscene is finished it will take you to the level corresponding to the cutscene, so in this case the Bayou. Exiting the Bayou will then take you to the Hall of Doors where you'll be stuck in one spot since the Bayou hasn't been unlocked. Jumping into it will soft lock the game (unless you pause and then resume).

Ah, thanks for that! I knew someone had to have done it like that before…

There's something else I noticed though. After I take the green lum in the Echoing Caves portion, Ly starts giving her messages of encouragement when Rayman dies. So whether or not that happens is a property of the checkpoint!

EDIT: Well, here's the video:

I've never seen that video.

This video makes me love "Rayman 2 The Great Escape" to death!
It is so brilliant!
Looks like another song will be converted to my Ipod Nano. Thanks so much for bringing this video up, Master ! :mryellow:

There's also the unique Globox Village and some differences in the Henchmen distribution in the levels. Then you have PS1's case that while it has got one of the least good visual presentations and is the shortest version of R2 (someone who knows how to play the game by heart can finish it at 100% in about 3 hours) it features some really interesting changes and features that I would have liked them to have been implemented in other versions. There's a unique room in the The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, the Hall of Doors has got giant doors and a real dialogue between Rayman and the Teensies, the guardians talk, there's an extra Razorbeard cutscene, there is a new mini-boss battle (Ninjaws) and an improved Razorbeard final battle which is totally different from the other ones plus it is more challenging and longer. And if you beat the game with at least 90% of the Yellow Lums, you unlock the 2D Prototype of R2 to play.
Could you tell us about the unique room and the extra cutscene, please (or, preferably, a video of them)? :)

You can find the room by looking for a PS1 walkthrough of the same level. As for the extra cutscene, I do not fully remember the PS1 level that triggers it. I think it was the level after the Whale Bay?

Ah, I was hoping that you'd remember where the room appeared in the level, but thank you, Haruka. :)

I'm assuming Haruka's referring to the third level of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, the whole thing has been greatly remodelled, but the third level is pretty much entirely unique level design. Granted, the final section of that level shares a similar premise to the final section of the other temple from other versions, with a Walking Shell ride, but it's still rather different.

I'm guessing the extra Razor cutscene Haruka refers to is to do with the introduction of Ninjaws, I can't remember precisely myself when it plays, I think it's just after you enter the spiral door to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire for the first time.

I watched this video, which is presumably what you meant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMFCray ... E&index=11

Only the very first part and the latter half or so is similar to the PC version - so it was interesting to watch! Are there no hidden paths in this PS1 version, I wonder? Going left instead of right, on the lava stream, which would lead you to a section with a Walking Shell on the PC, for example? Probably not, as Haruka found all the Lums. I also think I noticed Haruka searching for the secret room that exists in the plum-riding section where you end up after 'activating' one of the coloured spires, if that makes sense. :P

The part you've linked is the Yellow Sphere path, I don't recall it being any different to the other versions. I was referring to this section. As for the split path leading to the wrong temple, it's not there in the PS1 version. The area is effectively blocked off, as you can see here.

Oh, I didn't mean to link to a specific part! You are right, though, yes, as you can infer from my post. Thank you for the additional videos! :)

Wow that's a blast, I remember when this had me tripping in my room at night with neon lights on. It managed to capture something uncanny about Rayman 2.

Yeah, I try to appear once in a while, though that's a tad difficult right now. But yeah, sometimes I try to keep up with what's happening!

Don't mean to sound like a finny But...

In Rayman 2 for the n64, Whenever the staff roll credits finishes it shows:
THE END
Is there a way to get back to the actual game from this screening?
I tried pressing start and other buttons But nothing happens. The game just Stays on the "THE END" screen.
Is there something specific to do or press?
