rayman 3 won't launch -

I have tried everything i could find on these fourms and nothing worked, when i launch the game nothing happens, when i run from dist it comes up with a menu sceen saying uninstall play and register but when i click play nothing happens and task manager says rayman isnt running.

Which version do you have? The GOG one, or the original CD-ROM one?

I'm assuming disc, from what he's said. I'm not in a position to give solid advice, but perhaps one of the threads in the "Modding and Utilities" section might provide some answers.

Woops, missed out on the disc part. Read too fast.

I guess checking drivers or running on older Windows versions' compatibility might help too.

The GOG version should work just fine, because the GOG versions of games usually fix the issues found on the original disc versions. For example, Rayman 2's retail version had an error in the Echoing Caves which resulted in the player not being able to finish the game. But the GOG version fixed that.

ive tried all compatibility modes to no success also id rather not buy the GOG version, i thought i had found a solution to this for my other PC but i cant seem to get the game to work none the less.

Try The XBOX Version, i heard if you have XBOX GOLD, you can buy rayman 3 HD for free for a limited time at one point, but if your willing to lose like $40 for Rayman 3 HD, Then i'd say go ahead

I doubt the GOG version would solve the issue since I don't think there are any major (if any) changes in it for Rayman 3. Throughout my years of playing Rayman 3, here are the things which have most commonly solved these issues for me:
- Run as admin
- Check that the ubi.ini files contain valid information
- Enable DirectPlay in the legacy settings
- Sometimes the modified dinput8 dll has crashed the game, and sometimes it has helped me run it. Try with and without that (it's the dll used for controller support)

other than the dinput8 ive tried everything. so for the dinput8 should i just temporarily remove the file to test?

the thing is when i launch nothing happens, not even an error message or a black box. Sometimes the mouse has been moved to the middle of the screen but otherwise i have no output to work with.

Yeah, just try moving it out of the directory. Have you also tried changing the resolution and/or running in windowed mode instead?

You already launched "R3_Setup_DX8.exe" and made proper settings for R3 ?
I don't undesrstand "above including moving the file aging res and windowed mode" so R3_Setup_DX8.exe has not menu for "windowed mode" but for "changing resolutions".

If you are sure, then your problem may come from Directplay setting in you OS, W10 x64 ? here's the tip;

Oh the aging was meant to be changing, there is a file in the rayman files that lets you change to windowed mode I'm pretty sure, it's a config file like R3_Setup_DX8.exe and I have tried almost everything with that file as well but changing settings doesn't change my circumstance. I looked at what you suggested but it's something I've already tried. I'm still at a loss as to what to do.

You can easily enable windowed mode in Better Rayman 3 or my utility Rayman Control Panel (link in my signature). You could also just randomly try one of the widescreen exe files to see if perhaps your exe is corrupt/damaged. The only other solution I see is installing a virtual machine or something similar to run the game.

Well, supposing you are sure that you already ran "R3_Setup_DX8.exe" or Carrot-master's whitchever, then next problem is "SafeDIsc 2.8" protection resided in ORIGINAL CDs.
This protection is nuts not working in the latest OSs including W7,W8,W8.1 as well as W10 x64.
If this is your case, you have to get Safedisc annihilator to make this check pass in the latest OSs.
May a good guy will show how to make this annihilator if it's not illegal.
