Yeah, sorry for not being active for quite some time. I wasn't active then because I did some backtracking in Rayman Revolution (I completed 92% of the game) but I'm still backtracking it. Man, Sanctuary of Stone and Fire backtracking sucks! I hate that level!

Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
Did you know that you can abuse the Lava Helicopter ability in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire? Makes skipping the Plum segments a breeze, though it can mean you miss some Lums in certain spots because you don't have the ability to reach areas that the Plum bounces to.
- That being said. While I don't mind the SoSaF for the most part. I still hate that Walking Shell segment at the end of the other Temple. That final part with the pillar and the lava path leading to the exit is obnoxiously finicky, and I can imagine that's the reason why the Red Lums in that segment respawn.

I have heard of that strat. It is kinda painfully slow But it is worth it, I guess.
The walking shell part is what I DESPISE in the wrong temple segment.
The thing is with that track, Master, is that you should see how touchy the ground is when you land on it with the shell. If you are off with the jumping, instead of landing, you crash into the ground as if it was a wall. So annoying, I swear...

Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
That is a fair point, but it comes with an exceptional boon where you don't need to do the magic spheres segment. That lava path to the level's exit can also be Lava Helicoptered over, meaning you don't need to revive Umber.
If memory serves, you only need to return to a section to the first level with the Lava Helicopter to 100% the level. If it wasn't for getting locked out of returning to the level entrance due to the level's design, and the fact that the segment you need to backtrack to has a Green Lum. You could just complete that section to 100% the level, then die to teleport to the level's entrance and leave. Pity that's not possible due to that Green Lum, it'd save a lot of time.

I mean, there were some parts of Sanctuary of Stone and Fire which I really liked, because they were hella fun (for example the sliding segment at the very end of the level), but for the most part, it's long, frustrating and tedious.
Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
I can Remember When I was playing that level in Project64.
I lowered down frame-rates which made the game going into super slow-motion.
It helped me time my jumps perfectly in the walking shell section.
I do know that without the double rate of fire ability When attempting the plum rides in the actual "Sanctuary" sanctuary, you are guaranteed to fail....unless you know how the plum bounces along the lava and when to shoot.

Eh...? It's a pretty good one but it has it's flaws, the level is WAY too long (especially if you take the alternate route which leads you back to the main path), and the level has segments that have you repeat itself a few times. Also many slow paced segments of waiting (with the orb/sphere carrying.) But it is home to the infamous flying sphere in the air while riding the plum on the lava, lol. Iron mountains is still my fav.Adsolution wrote:stone and fire is the best level in the game

I think it's just the right length. The only slow segments I can think of would be the one where you have to carry the sphere, but I still wouldn't consider it very slow in the sense that you're most of the time you're throwing it between platforms and avoiding things.Rayfist wrote:Eh...? Waiting? I can't think of anywhere in the level where you have to wait for something except for the couple second interval between the plums falling at the beginning of the second area and waiting for the air-sphere plum to bounce towards you at the end, though I'd be more willing to call that suspenseful. Any of the platforms you have to throw the sphere across require some precision, so the one or two seconds you have to wait doesn't really mean anything. The rest of the level, especially the optional temple, is filled with some of the most fun and varied platforming/gameplay segments in the game to me.
Iron Mountains is easily my second favourite, but let's not forget the fact it's home to probably the worst sequence in the game: flying the ship. Great idea, terrible execution.
I agreed when I was like eight, but it's literally just the chair riding segment with like a couple really short rooms after it.R4Y_ANC3L wrote:I thought "Top of the World was the best.
Re: Pluses (+) and minuses (−) of this day
My favourite level in Rayman 2 is Menhir Hills. It's just so fun! I mean, riding a rocket with legs is like the most fun thing ever! It's challenging too! The only drawback I can think of in that level is that when you accidentally bump into a wall you're almost always exposed to bumping into other walls which causes your death most of the time.
