What!?

OK so you'll get a second hand one cheap that works perfect depending on where you buy it. The likes of ebay have a lot of decent sellers on it you can just check their feedback before buying and if anything goes wrong they usually send you another. Every time something did go wrong I either had a replacement sent or got a refund.
the problem is, i never bougth from ebay before and i dont realy want to, at least not on ebay

I've never had any problems with ebay like there are a few sellers that try con people but they always have bad feedback so you can tell. It's very unlikely to get ripped off unless you don't read the description and it turns out you were sold a controller box with no controller (highly unlikely to happen)

If you really don't wanna use ebay try amazon or even if whichever country you're from has a buy and sell site. In Ireland we have adverts.ie for example so surely you have something similar wherever you're from.

That's the only problem. It all depends on the seller and your luck. Usually most sellers or retailers will make sure to test these things beforehand instead of just claiming that they work.

If you do plan to get another one though, just either check does it say the seller offers refunds/returns or even contact them beforehand to make sure they'll accept a return if it's faulty. If they say no then you'll know there's something wrong and you can avoid them and deal with someone else instead.

I only ever had 2 problems on ebay myself. Years ago I was sent the wrong laptop charger and had to just hang onto it as the seller had the cheek to ask me to pay the return (if I had it again now I'd of just used a paypal dispute and got my money back) and one last week with a PS2 slim motor I had to order from USA. The USA seller literally just said they'll send me another motor no charge as that one was faulty.

Just remember that if you do use ebay you're covered by PayPal (it's called buyer protection) and can file a dispute which will get you your money back (should there be any problems and the seller doesn't correspond) :)

I find PayPal the safest method because there's always a comeback if something goes wrong. Only problem is the PayPal charges (like 71c if you spend €10).

Each to their own I suppose.

Good luck finding a better controller anyway :)

If you're playing the game on the PS2 just get a DuelShock 2, factory sealed copies cost 60 bucks nowadays, Other then nostalgia there's no reason to get the original PS1 controller anymore.

A big factor? You're just spending more money on a controller that has less features.

Didn't know you were using a PS2 but yeah you're better off getting a Dualshock 2 then as Greeness says. If you have a PS1 it won't work on it though (which is commonsense tbh).

My DS2 works just fine on my PSone. They’re backwards-compatible.

My brain should be backwards compatible, I'm an idiot

It's the other way around. Some PS2 games don't work if you use a DS1 on them. 50 Cent: Bulletproof for example won't work with a DS1 but a lot of games do. So for best compatibility it's best to have a DS2 if you have a PS2.

I need to start thinking properly before I make a fool of myself

Edit: That's a couple of occasions Fifo has had to correct me

Gran Turismo 4 doesn’t work with a DS1 either. Yup, I’d use a DS2 on PS2 if I were you.

Nah you're fine. I'd rather be told and learn and have the OP actually get the right advice. I'm not a dick like that, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

The PS1 is a console I haven't owned in years so that's what both corrections were about anyway :D
You actually just saved me buying a DS1 though because I'm getting a cheap PS1 in a couple of days that I'm attempting to fix (disc read problem) just to have one even though the PS2 plays the games I'd rather have the original because why not right?

I'm getting Rayman 1 and 2 on it whenever they arrive (still waiting thanks to the weather) so it'll be nice to have the PS1 again. If my DS2 controllers will work then that's perfect so thanks :)
