I had a go of the original Xbox version just to see what it was like and I thought it felt easier to play despite for some reason having a lot more framedrops than the PS2 version. I use xinput on the PC version and was wondering why it feels easier on the Xbox then I noticed it's the triggers. On the original Xbox the triggers are for strafing and diving but on the PC it's the bumpers instead. May have a go at it with these keys remapped but I suppose this is a matter of preference.

Still not that great at the moment but I haven't been practicing that much on it the last vmfew days as I've been on Rayman 2. I might go back on it tomorrow for a bit and try it out.

I'm only scoring about 65000 on TLOLD, I keep trying it over and over when I'm on it but always completely ruin the hoodlum combo which is the main one and when I go to get the green gem on the secret room he grabs the edge and then I miss out on the combo buy the time he jumps up. My score is only around 320000 so far because I've been just trying to get a better score on that level but it still beats 170000 :oops2:

Even part 2 of TLOLD I still don't manage to do that great. I'm like 10000 under the recommendation for part 1 and about 20000 under what I should be for part 2. Just have to perfect the combo timing I suppose.

Good to see you are improving. Keep it up! :)

Have you been checking out Maz's and 1234's and MandM's videos on YouTube? They provide visual help on combos you may be struggling with.

Yeah I've had a look at the first page in the scoring thread and seen a few of them. I struggle with the matuvu combos though mainly but he makes it look so easy. I can do the matuvu one in TLOLD part 1 but only because you're running right at it and just have to hold the look mode button.

Most matuvu combos outside of the Fairy Council are fairly easy, but then again I've been in scoring mode for years so I would say it isn't for others.

But yeah, on the first matuvu combo in LOTD, immediately press the look button once you've collected that gem closest to it. Usually the red circle appears so you don't have to move it.

Yeah that's the only reason I can even do that one. Having to move the camera really fast is hard for me as I always pass the matuvu accidentally and the red circle momentarily disappears ruining the combo. Its one of them things where you think you can't do any better and you're trying your best but then eventually you start getting really good. I'll put the time into it because I really like these Rayman games. I completely lost interest in playing online lately and just love playing these games like the good old days

Rayman 3 never gets old because it has so much replay value with the scoring system. Even the scorers at the top of the leaderboard are still trying to find ways to improve their score. Truly one of those games where practice makes perfect. :)

That's what makes a game great though is replay ability. I actually think 2 is a better game but 3 is brilliant and has so much replay value. That's not to say I won't replay Rayman 2 since it's really good so it's not like I mind playing it again. Difference is you can tell people you got a better score in Rayman 3 but once you 100% 2 that's it done and you have to start a new save basically.

Yeah, I've been replaying Revolution the past couple of days, and I've been enjoying it, but Rayman 3 tends to draw me back time and time again when I'm ready to lock back into scoring mode, which can be a good time killer.

I know what you mean. You get that feeling people used to get where they wanted to set the high scores on arcade games. It's hard to explain but you get what I mean. The story and idea of the second game is just better overall but you find yourself playing 3 a lot more often anyway because of that scoring system which I need to get better at because I suck compared to everyone else

Today I played some Rayman 3 HD on my Xbox 360, determined to get the 100G achievement stating that I must complete all the levels with a perfect rank and since I still had one level left which was lacking it's own individual happy Murphy face I drew the conclusion that it's the only requirement that needs to be completed. Imagine my surprise when after raising my total score considerably and obtaining the happy Murphy face for some reason the aforementioned achievement still didn't unlock, so I went out of my way to read after it a little bit.

Turns out that you must 100%: Every. Single. Map. Of. The. Game. with no built-in way to keep track of your overall progress of course.

I was actually wondering whether to try get all the achievements in that version but that sounds like a lot of effort. You'd have to literally write down every level and every part you didn't get 100% on. That's probably a little infuriating.

It's not the feat that bothers me, but the execution.
Let's take the Xbox 360 version of Serious Sam 3 for example. Unlike the PC version there's no way to actively check your stats which would help you to keep track of your overall achievement progress, so the developers actually went out of their way to add a small function to the console version's menu system which keeps track of a few achievements such as stuff involving a collectathon and level completion on certain difficulty levels. Basically they implemented a small level list which dynamically changes depending on your overall progress and you can also complete the levels individually, no need for one continuous playthrough. :P

Yeah I get you. There should have been a menu added with each part of each level stating the score percentage so you would be able to replay only the parts you needed to. It's not that I'm achievement crazy and the game is only worth 200G, but since I love the game I wouldn't mind earning the 200G and just having the satisfaction of knowing I completed the game 100% :)

What's the PS3 version like by the way guys, does it run OK?

Well I assume that it's the exact same deal as on the Xbox 360: Rayman 3 HD features slightly upscaled textures, native 1080p 60 fps gameplay and a remastered(!?) soundtrack as well.

Howewer: It has a few completely new glitches too, as sometimes the water effects kinda like to freak out, the music looping tends to be a bit glitchy too, the awesome intro featuring Madder is no longer there while the Wanna Kick Rayman videos were replaced by some Rayman Origins concept art.
You must also do your first playthrough from beginning to end without re-entering the earlier worlds or else the save file will get corrupted.

On the Xbox 360 (which afaik was the stronger hardware of the generation) the game also LAGS occasionally in the most random of places: The Summit.....'s Snowboard section skips frames almost constantly and so do the sections when Rayman is jumping across platforming areas having liquid effects under them let it be lava, (acid in the Knaaren desert?) or water. The Tower of Leptys has a few interesting level segment loading quirks: you can see other parts of the level from the windows which were supposed to show the player nothing, but the outer stormy sky with clouds passing by.

One of the final boss's segments is visually glitched as well...remember the part when you're constantly using the helicopter power to get to the top while the platforms under you are slowly starting to fade away with a purpleish effect? Well here they just pop out of existence to become invisible while their invisible collision still lingers there for a few seconds...the original effect is just missing altogether.

Also, perhaps the most awkward hiccup of them all: ALL of the Neon Surfing segments are lagging noticably AND their musics are also looping out of sync. :P

All that aside I still do think it's worth a try though. :)

Oh yeah. No doubt about it the Xbox360 is the more powerful console. It even has double the ram (512mb vs 256mb) but I'm not taking anything away from the PS3 as it has a lot of great games and worked very well for such limited hardware.

About the music looping, I'm someone who likes their music and I actually noticed that right away especially on the teensie highway as the whole thing is just out of sync. I also noticed a few glitches after playing a bit of the 360 version. I also noticed at the end of Land Of The Livid Dead when you fight Céloche, the laser thing is going about twice as fast that you have to try to avoid.

I never finished the game but it's the first version of Rayman 3 I ever tried to play and I immediately put on the PS2 copy of the game I just happened to have and noticed the looping was perfect in that version. I don't exactly get why the HD version has that problem but I suppose it's still Rayman and it's still a good game :)

It's been awhile since I played Rayman 3 but all this talk about it recently makes me want to come back and play it. My favorite laser detergent is definitely the lockjaw! I just hope I remember where everything is!

Ooh, very stunning! Now you just have to figure out how it works. Good luck. (flies away)

But then...
Snatches Murfy with the lockjaw! Lol!

Too bad I can't actually skip through levels I don't like as Rayman 2 did (my version anyway), but not that I wanted to cheat through the game anyway it's easy for me.
