Hmm, with the recent Citra update, I'm wondering if emulating Rayman 3D is feasible. I've been curious about whether or not the aesthetic changes made to it were worthwhile.

If you had a spare 2DS or 3DS you could install the Rayman 3D.cia file or use freeshop (modified eshop) to try it out. If it's just a try before you buy thing and you want to keep OFW on your DS then just ignore this.

I'd rather not CFW my 2DS at this stage, seeing as it sounds like Ninty have given the platform 2 years at the least before it's tapered out. Besides, I'd like to try it out at an upscaled resolution.

My 3DS already has CFW but I still wouldn't mind buying the real cart of the game. Playing it upscaled sounds interesting though, I'll have to have a look at this Citra and try it out. Will try find a Rom if I can.

I just tried that there. It actually runs extremely well at 60fps and I have it at 10x native resolution

The music skips a bit and breaks up etc. but the game itself actually plays very well. Try it if you haven't already :)

Edit: The graphics are unbelievable upscaled

Edit 2: The Isle of Doors seems to be going 79% speed but the actual levels play fine. Probably just 10x resolution being a bit of an overreaction. Apart from the music it actually plays the game way better than the New 3DS XL.

Never mind that last part. If you have a CFW New 3DS you get 60fps if you enable Clock+L2 in luma. The FPS just went from sub 30 to 60 for me :)

Completed Revolution yesterday. :)

Image

Time played - 39110 S (I left the game on a few times while I was doing schoolwork.)
Distance covered - 172920 M
Number of jumps - 2114
Shooting accuracy - 87%
Times killed - 14
Number of try again - 0

Wanted to improve on the times killed and shooting accuracy stats, and I was able to do that quite well. :)

Oh yeah. Good job, I completed it today too :)

Spent a lot of time running around in circles or standing still writing on this forum though

Also randomly firing shots constantly and dying on purpose to go back and collect Lums and got 23 try agains :oops2:

Well... I did it! I got 100% in Revolution. It may have been a very slow playthrough but it was my first playthrough of Rayman Revolution and I got 100% :)

Congrats! :)

Was it difficult, easy or in the middle for you to complete it 100%?

It was kind of in the middle for me. Finding some of the Lums in this version was actually very challenging even with the Lums radar. The Dreamcast version had most of them hidden too but in places you could actually look where in Revolution it's all secret passages.

The Fairy Glade really got me in Revolution but on Dreamcast it was the secret on The Sanctuary Of Stone And Fire. The one where you go down the hill and there's a passage to the right with spiderwebs and you climb up to the cage. Master and R4Y had to tell me where that was because I couldn't see it with the camera angle

It was actually my father who found that one for me, way back on my first playthrough. Neither of us was too observant at the time, so it was quite lucky!

I had no idea where it was, I could just hear a cage and thought with this place, that could be anywhere. Because you have to go around the yellow Lava to get to it and can't turn the camera it'd be very hard to spot it.

By the way, I can beat the game again! Even after I beat it! Why is this?

If you're referring to the way it lets you fight Razorbeard again, that happens me too. The game probably doesn't even save after you beat him.

No, the game doesn't save after you defeat Razorbeard. It doesn't even give you the option to save after you defeat him (in Revolution).

Yeah exactly the case, but you can still obtain 100% completion.

Yeah, because after you beat Razorbeard you can still go back to Rainbow Creek for the last lums and familiar spirits and to unlock all the challenges.

It's interesting that when you kill a Robo-pirate in the N64 version of Rayman 2, the death scream of the pirate in that version is identical to the sound of the Robo-pirate death scream in the PS1 Version.

From the few minutes playing it without a controller Pak it looks like it's very similar to the PS1 version with the exception that the PS1 runs and looks a bit better than it. Also the N64 has Midi music as I've been told here before.

The N64 version hands-down looks better than the PS1 version, maybe barring raw texture resolution. The PS1 version has far lower-poly models and some really ugly visual/animation glitches.
