Re: What are your favorite Rayman levels?

Rayman 1 - Band Land
Picture City is on the edge of taking the cake, but I think Band Land is just a tad bit more atmospheric and magical. I feel like it really brings you into its own little world, and manages to be something different in nearly every section. I love transition from the Dream Forest into Band Land, the thunderstorm section, the sunset near the end, etc. Every level feels completely individual to me.

Rayman 2 - The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire
I think this was one of the key areas in making Rayman 2's depiction of the Glade feel a lot more defined by history, magic, that sort of thing. The other games feel more like Rayman's taking you on a tour through a trippy environment, whereas R2 felt more like a genuine adventure through a world with its own logic and nature.

Rayman 3 - The Land of The Livid Dead
In all honesty I think the Desert of The Knaaren might be better in terms of what I mostly look for, but this world has great combat, music, platforming, and I just really love the look of it. The build up to the boss in the final stretch was also a great addition.

Rayman Origins - Desert of Didgeridoos
Gourmand Land and Mystical Pique are pretty much on par with it, but I guess I'll pick this one because the platforming is really tight, and the soundtrack was really neat. I also felt like RO sometimes drags things on a little too long, but this area was perfectly long enough to where it never gets boring.

Rayman Legends - Olympus Maximus
It just looks gorgeous.

Such a great opening level, so magical and it's the level for me that REALLY represents the Rayman franchise as a whole, you can tell a lot of the levels from R2 and R3 took the magical Dream Forest and took some of that beauty and put applied it to few levels. Clearleaf Forest to me is kind of like that poor bootleg of the Dream Forest. While a nice level, it lacks a lot of the shining beauty the fairy council had. The music always gets me in the groove of things too.
I never looked at the Dram Forest that way, but that's pretty on point. Pretty much every game since seems to have had its own take on this type of environment, even the handheld spin-offs.

I also think the Dream Forest is a great balance between the surrealism and natural aspects of the Glade. The visuals and sound play around a lot with being more lighthearted or mysterious.

I don't get why specifically Rayman 3 and not the entire series, but alright.

1. The Desert of the Knaaren

2. The Land of The Livid Dead

3. Hoodlum Headquarters

Also, may I suggest creating a poll for this topic?

Ok, I will. Thanks for the idea! Also, did you mean from game to game when you said the entire series?

I don't get the whole ranking thing... if you have multiple favourite levels, then you can't rank them; it would imply that you like one better than the others which would THEN mean you'd only have 1 favourite level after all, but I guess it's whatever :oops2:

Hands down Clearleaf Forest.

Favorite level from each game or favorite level period, I think it would just help generalising the thread for those who don't like or didn't play Rayman 3, but it's your thread in the end of the day, so you don't have to listen to me.

Hmm, this is curious. Why aren't the origins levels on this poll), and why are all the Rayman 2 levels bunched into 4 categories? I stlll need some time to make my decision, but I guess it's safe to assume we're only talking about mainstream games, I suppose.

I didn't include Origins since it would take ages to type all the levels, and as for Rayman 2, there are 21 levels in total, so that's why I had to bunch it.

I feel like this would be better broken into several polls for each game in that instance....

Alright, mine are:

All levels except Blue Mountains and Candy Chateau in Rayman 1.
All levels leading up to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire in Rayman 2.
All levels except DOTK And Hoodlum Headquarters in Rayman 3.
Yeah still haven't played Rayman Legends, but I'll pick Fiesta De Las Muertos.

Same, I hate DOTK because for:

1. It's extremely long
2. It creeps me out especially when the Knaaren get close to you and say the things they say even louder
3. It just isn't a fun level to play.

The only thing I like about it is the secret room at the end of it (but I don't think it counts as its at the end of every level).

Are you referring to the doctors' offices btw?

I never said I hated DOTK, well I guess I did when I wa younger it was just so creepy, but these days nothing really scares me so it doesn't bother me too much. Still kinda creepy. My favorite things from that place is the secret room you mentioned and the Reflux battle. That's pretty much it.
