Re: Rayman 1
Hmm, now that I’m getting a better look at it, the background seems to be that of Picture City. One of its backgrounds anyway. Maybe this was an exit too or a portal to some bonus area??
Re: Rayman 1
Yes, it’s definitely from Picture City (the other image contains tileset from this world also) but i never see this portal in action. Wonder what it’s look like in-game.The Jonster wrote:Hmm, now that I’m getting a better look at it, the background seems to be that of Picture City. One of its backgrounds anyway. Re: Rayman 1
It's a sprite in the files of Rayman Designer. It wasn't too hard to find and make available in the game. (It was probably MasterHero who did it, although I don't actually remember when it was found.)
Re: Rayman 1
Not that it relates to the portal, but all these secrets make me want to try the Jaguar version when I'm not doing anything
As in finish the whole game and see what else is different.

Re: Rayman 1
I believe Candy Château is completely different, the rest not so much. I get the feeling that there were more differences during development but there was a directive to harmonize the versions, which is why Allegro Presto is so ridiculous.
Although at least they must have used different translators: "The Forgotten Swamps" is infinitely more pleasing to the ear than the name it got stuck with in the English version on other platforms, which I won't repeat since it's quite probably the greatest insult to the language of Shakespeare I have ever seen in a commercial work.

Re: Rayman 1
I think Mr. Dark’s dare sounds better to me than Mr. Dark’s chateau, though The Forgotten Swamps is so much more pleasing to my ears. Also I remember reading that there were a lot of objects that are only here in this game that never made to any of the other versions, though they can be seen in Rayman Junior and/or Rayman Designer. I find the numerous uses of killdoors and gendoors to be a little interesting for some reason...PluMGMK wrote:I believe Candy Château is completely different, the rest not so much. And let’s not forget those jumping physics.
Re: Rayman 1
I agree with Allegro Presto, literally just excessive hunters and no sliding physics. It's not the same at all. I assume the hunters are only there to make it a bit of a challenge without sliding physics.

Re: Rayman 1
"Dare" was a mistranslation of "Défi", which should be "Challenge". But yeah, still better than Château, which in English suggests he was making wine there.
Or maybe, plum juice?
Something more subtle than the exclusion of the sliding physics is the exclusion of sucking trumpets – in the Jaguar version they all blow. Fair play, they did manage to change up the puzzles involving them to remain interesting and sensible.

Mr. Dark's Challenge sounds as good. Plum juice makes more sense considering how most of the games so far has had plums in general, with the UbiArt games being the odd exception and possibly more.PluMGMK wrote:"Dare" was a mistranslation of "Défi", which should be "Challenge". Re: Rayman 1
Though I feel like the plums were far more useful in Rayman 1 and 2. 3 just had very basic usage with mild puzzles is all.

Re: Rayman 1
True. Say did you know there was supposed to be a plum trap in Rayman 3? At least that's what i thikn I saw in the Rayman 3 prototype page.
Re: Rayman 1
Replaying the DSi version, only got as far as Picture City last time.
Seems like it's gonna stay that way.

So you are stuck? If so, where?
Re: Rayman 1
Literally the first level, Eraser Plains.

Re: Rayman 1
Ah. Which part of the level?
Re: Rayman 1
Third part; the one that involves using the blue elves to get through the tight spaces without getting yourself killed.
