Re: Food
I’ve tried doing that too, though it was by mistake. Tasted nasty. At least I didn’t accidentally swallow something else with that icky water, who knows what lurks in the sea.
Kinda like sea salt better than regular salt though, I’ve been curious about trying to grab a bottle of sea water and evaporating it, leaving just salt. But I don’t think that would work too well since there might be other things in the water.

Re: Food
It's a nice experiment to try, if very expensive (takes a lot of energy to evaporate that much water!). Not sure how useful the products would end up being.

Re: Food
Oh, I see you what you mean now. I just read this article on evaporating seawater. While there are other ways, I prefer not to use electricity or....wherever in the world that other chemical comes from.

I'm not really sure how useful it would be either other than seasoning...

Re: Food
If I recall the section introducing carboxylic acids in my Leaving Cert Chemistry book, decanoic acid is produced by goats, and is responsible for their stench.

Welp...could have gone my whole life not knowing that!PluMGMK wrote:decanoic acid is produced by goats, and is responsible for their stench.
Still interesting to hear. Ah well!
For some mysterious reason the talk about Jaffa Cakes makes me want those chocolate Australian biscuits that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!
Too bad there are only 3 kinds sold in the US (original, caramel, dark) and I can't seem to find any other kinds around.

Re: Food
And now I just saw in the Focus magazine that undecanoic acid is an ingredient in a potential male contraceptive pill!
Note that the "un-" in this case means an extra carbon, not "not".

Hahahahha!
I fee like we somehow have turned this thread into a chemistry experiment
I still haven’t eaten anything. This is a terrible eating routine I’m adopting, since I’ll pay for this in the evening. I have to wait until I get my weigh-in though before I eat those snacks I have hidden

Re: Food
I wonder what foods would taste great in a smoothie....
Might try putting tofu in one time and see how that tastes...

Re: Food
I missed my chance at finding that golden seahorse card yesterday, so I just bought some Delicje.
Re: Food
I love 'em. If I had to pick between a chocolate or blueberry muffin, I think I'd pick blueberry. I crave one so much right now thinking about them that I can almost taste oneRay502 wrote:Oh yeah I love blueberry muffins. They used to have them when I was in elementary school. So Delicious.

I love both too!

I wish my blender was bigger...
It all depends what ingredients you put in your smoothie, unless you're getting one that's already made.Ray502 wrote:I would like to have a blueberry smoothie one day. Love blueberry yogurt, probably would love a blueberry smoothie.
