So I'm different and so is one other person that probably didn't admit that they're different tooThe Jonster wrote:Well at least SOMEONE liked the Vortex (and the HMF), the Shock Rocket and Throttle Copter had no votes.
I love the vortex, from the colour to the sound it makes when you hit stuff to it shrinking enemies I just love it
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Perhaps a poll about our favorite combat system/attacking method in the series?Ray502 wrote:Does anyone have an idea for the next poll? Can't think of one right now.
We could sort it out in a similar way to this:
1. Telescopic Fist(R1/R3GBA/RRRGBA)
2. Magic fist(R2/RM)
3. Telescopic Fist(R3)
4. Versatile attacking moveset + Telescopic Fist(RO+RL)
I think the fact that almost every game in the series has attempted to mix up this gameplay aspect could make this a strong poll.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I was thinking something like that but I couldn't think of a way to word it. I would have said favourite power but then who is going to pick running or ledge grabbing
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Never underestimate the ledge grab.Steo wrote:but then who is going to pick running or ledge grabbing

Oh wow yeah I stand corrected

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I like having more than one way to attack than just using the telescopic fist, so I went with versatile attacking moveset. Imagine if they had used that moveset in some of the earlier Rayman games!
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I'm going with Versatile attacking moveset + Telescopic Fist(RO+RL).
I like the way it's different and has a lot of variation. The fact that you can still use the telescopic fist (though it doesn't extend as far) kick and even do a combo. The spinning attack too and also the cruch attack. Then theres the variation between RO and RL where RO uses a ground kick while RL uses a ground pound.
The somersault is a cool one too imo

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Nice to see that this was chosen as the next poll!
As for myself, I do think Rayman 3 had the best combat in the series, yeah in Origins and Legends characters have more differentiating moves, but in Rayman 3 every enemy encounter felt more integral and required more strategy to get through, it could've been better with the power ups like I've already said, but putting that aside the combat system was very well done, especially when comparing it to a lot of other 3d platformers at the time.
Also the Telescopic fist itself is just a very iconic ability to Rayman's limbless design, Rayman 1 and the UbiArt games also had it, but I've never personally liked how Rayman needed to stand still while charging it, if in R1 it worked somewhat like for example the charge shot from the Mega Man games where you're able to move and jump while charging the attack, I would've probably liked it more. the UbiArt games however go for a completely different style of combat so It's understandable why they didn't want to make this change.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Hm, I wonder what ideas could I come up with for this poll...
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
If I had to randomly throw one out while being this tired, I'd say favourite handheld game from the series.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Sounds good, but I wonder how many handhelds were there again?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
GBA had Rayman Advance, Rayman 3, Rayman Hoodlums Revenge and Rayman Raving Rabbids. DS had Rayman DS and Raving Rabbids and there's a DSI port of Rayman 1 then there's Rayman 3DS.
RO and RL are on vita too.
That's just off the top of my head but I can look into it to be sure after I get some more sleep.
Edit: Oh and 3DS has a port of Origins.
Edit 2:
I think if we do that then it should just include these options, but that's still 12, maybe even exclude the mobile games from this list, then there's still 8 though:
Rayman (Game Boy Color)
Rayman (Nintendo DSi)
Rayman 2 (iOS)
Rayman 2 Forever
Rayman 3 (Game Boy Advance)
Rayman 3 (mobile phone)
Rayman 3D
Rayman Advance
Rayman Adventures
Rayman Classic
Rayman DS
Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge
Also that's without the RL for vita and RO for both vita and 3DS which funny enough aren't on the wiki as handheld titles.
Excluded Rabbids titles:
Rabbids Go Home (DS)
Rabbids Rumble
Rabbids Travel in Time 3D
Rayman Raving Rabbids (DS)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Game Boy Advance)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (mobile phone)
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (DS)
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (DS)
Misc:
Rayman Bowling
Rayman Garden
Rayman Golf
Rayman IV
Rayman Kart
Rayman Ultimate
RO and RL are on vita too.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
So is the handheld one the next poll, or is there another suggestion?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I forgot Jungle Run and Fiesta Run. I think it's better to not include the mobile ones though because there's already a lot of games there. Origins on Vita and 3DS isn't in that list either either is RL for Vita.
If anyone has a better idea instead we could use theirs, but I just thought why not to see what others think of the handheld titles

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I don't have any ideas to pitch for the time being, sounds like a good poll for a good discussion though
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
There could be a "Who's your favorite hoodlum?" poll.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I think this one would be easier for me to choose which Hoodlum is my favorite.

Your next suggestion is the post above?Ray502 wrote:So is the handheld one the next poll, or is there another suggestion?
