Re: What next for Rayman's future
A flop? Yes, that's why BG&E2 has taken almost fifteen years to get out of limbo. All we can do is hope that Ubi's marketing people have learned from their mistakes…

It's funny, but for some reason I feel like trying Beyond Good & Evil right now. Even though it was a failure, I think i'd still like to give it a try.

Oh do! It's brilliant! It only failed because of marketing missteps.

I wonder now what exactly those marketing missteps are.PluMGMK wrote:Oh do! It's brilliant! It only failed because of marketing missteps.

Re: What next for Rayman's future
I believe Ubi released a few games from more well-known franchises around the same time as BG&E, and so ploughed all their marketing resources into those. Something like that.
Re: What next for Rayman's future
And they barely talked about it.
It's a shame because it's really a good game. (makes me think i gotta find it back in my stuff)

Re: What next for Rayman's future
I can believe that. I've only played 10 minutes so far and I already find it AMAZING. I liked Jade from the first minute already! (Or is it Yade?)
Re: What next for Rayman's future
It's Jade. Jade is AWESOME and so is Pey'j. KInda dissapointed that the next BG&E won't be about them.
BUt it's totaly ok since the next game looks beyond epic.

You all reminded me that I should finally play my Beyond Good and Evil HD ! I don't know why I didn't got more into it yet ! I'll make sure to complete it when I'll find the time !
Re: What next for Rayman's future
I was never interested in BG&E until i see the trailer of BG&E 2 during the E3, maybe i will play it someday.

I think you should sometime, I was the same way until I saw a video walkthrough recently. After playing it last night, I’m hooked!Birds858 wrote:I was never interested in BG&E until i see the trailer of BG&E 2 during the E3, maybe i will play it someday.
Re: What next for Rayman's future
I don't know why, but I don't consider Origins as Rayman 4, nor Legends as Rayman 5. I love all the games, but those two are kinda in their own category for me. Plus, Rayman 4 is something so many people have been waiting for, for years. With that title, I think it would help it get more attention, therefore helping sales. Then again I'm not an expert. Just a simpleton.Ray502 wrote:In my opinion, I don't want Ubisoft to name Rayman's next adventure "Rayman 4." The ship has sailed on that. The real Rayman 4 now is Rayman Origins.

Re: What next for Rayman's future
I don't feel either that Rayman Origins could be called "Rayman 4". But still, it is the sequel to Rayman 3, so it also wouldn't make sense to call anything else "Rayman 4". It makes me sad that Michel (with his "fourth adventure" comment) seemed to disavow Origins and Legends, even though they probably came just as close as, if not closer than, anything else that came before, to his vision of a wacky universe.

I mean the next BG&E. Jade is AMAZING. I loved Pey'j too and Double H was pretty cool.
I need to watch that E3 trailer on BG&E2 later.
Yeah that kinda threw me off for a loop, because it made me wonder, where does the UbiArt games fit into this then if Rayman is going on his "fourth adventure"??PluMGMK wrote:I don't feel either that Rayman Origins could be called "Rayman 4". Re: What next for Rayman's future
Since we got 3 trilogies (Classic, Raving Rabbids, UbiArt), what if Michel Ancel actually meant by a "fourth adventure" a 4th trilogy ? That could make sense.
Or he was indeed talking about a fourth classic Rayman as he said that Rayman was "far from his time of glory" and as the original Rayman games were the only with numbers in their title it would (atleast to me) make sense that he meant a 4th Rayman following the old ones.
Ancel is smart, he's purposely lefting us in the mist to make us wonder what he is going to do next !

Re: What next for Rayman's future
Um, how can the UbiArt games be a trilogy if there were only 2 games for it? Am I missing another game or something other than Origins and Legends?

Adventures. Not that much of a main game but that's the closest to it.The Jonster wrote:Um, how can the UbiArt games be a trilogy if there were only 2 games for it? Am I missing another game or something other than Origins and Legends?

Re: What next for Rayman's future
One could easily contort the truth into your first suggestion, but the second seems more likely. Still, I find the first less upsetting! (My variation was that Rayman 1 and 2 were the first two, Rayman 3 didn't count since he wasn't in charge of it, then Origins, Legends and Adventures are all a single "adventure".)

Re: What next for Rayman's future
I guess your variation could work, I don't think it's likely to end up going that way but that's not impossible either. It's kinda true that we can count the UbiArt games as a single adventure in some way, due to how similar and consistent they are between each other compared to how the original trilogy worked.PluMGMK wrote:One could easily contort the truth into your first suggestion, but the second seems more likely.
