Re: Rayman 2
Ok this is what I found from researching the track i posted above. (had to repost video due to being on the next page)
(I think it's on the wiki already so check there)
Royal.V – It's Good To Be The King
Label: Sony Music Media – 668140 2
Format: CD, Maxi-Single, Enhanced
Country: Germany
Released: 1999
Genre: Hip Hop
Style: ??
The most interesting thing I found is that the enhanced version of this song doesn't just have references to Rayman 2. It actually has screenshots of the demo version of Rayman 2 itself. At least that's what I read anyway.
I think this is one of the only songs this group recorded...

Re: Rayman 2
I really have to play Rayman 2 again also because what a good game right? I'll go with my favourite Dreamcast version. Think what you want people, but it's unbelievable for a console half as powerful as the PS2 to play that game at a constant 60fps (apart from slight drops the odd time when there's smoke being rendered or The Echoing Caves where you return to The Fairy Glade). I love the Dreamcast version seriously and I personally struggled through Revolution with all sorts of glitches and problems. I even had the PS2 freeze up completely on The Sanctuary Of Stone And Fire twice and I thought the PS2 was broken when in fact it wasn't (and isn't). I had another glitch on the same level where Rayman ran into the wall constantly (also on The Sanctuary Of Stone And Fire) at the cutscene on part 1 where he was supposed to walk to the next level which caused me to reset the PS2 and start the whole level again.
I'm sorry people, but I don't know how they got away with releasing Revolution in that state and that's my honest opinion.
Dreamcast is my favourite and I've had no problems at all with that version

Re: Rayman 2
The Dreamcast I think is the only version I haven't really played yet. Since it's the definitive version I'm eager to try this one out too.
As for Revolution, it's special in its own way. Though in no way is it the absolute best version of Rayman 2, that version definitely feels a bit separate from all the other versions, in my opinion due to some changes in the story and other things (and that's not counting the GBC version).

Re: Rayman 2
Great for the story but not for the actual gameplay (physics or framerate)
In my opinion (look we all have our own) it runs like total shit for me and it has more glitches than it doesn't have. Maybe the NTSC version is different but I would rate it as the worst version of Rayman 2 I've ever had to play due to all the glitches. It was more of a chore than a game to me

Re: Rayman 2
No worries, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I don't rank RR along with the other versions, it's to me a different game from what Rayman 2 is.
Hmmm...I think I'll do N64 first, then PS, PC, and finally Dreamcast for my walkthroughs (because I think this or PC will be the ones I probably will like best).
I mean I'll do R2 GBC and RR eventually...much later though.

Re: Rayman 2
Well I love RR honestly, but just because it has so many glitches. That doesn't mean I don't like it, I still love the game. It's Rayman like
The N64 version is probably worse to me than RR. I'm a guy that likes the games to run well, and Rayman to me is a 60fps game (or at least 30). But honestly, the PAL version of RR runs like absolute fuckin' shit, yet I still think it's a good game. I literally had to press reset more times than jump when I played the game (because it crashed or broke so many times)
Anyone that says the Dreamcast version is not that great, play it first and just see for yourself. It's an amazing game especially for the hardware it was on

Re: Rayman 2
It's alright, I understand and respect your opinion.
I wonder who would think that way about the Dreamcast version though? I've seen videos, and as far as I can tell there aren't really any glaring errors/glitches. But yeah I'll definitely give it a go and see what I think. I'll probably like it better than the PC version

Re: Rayman 2
Even if I don't consider Revolution's version of the story canon, I'd kinda like to see it remade, with a more competent job done on it, and maybe for more than one platform. This "alternative" story deserves to be playable too!
Also it's a pity about the sound levels in that video. I'd probably have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the fluctuation in the volume!

Re: Rayman 2
The thing that bothered me most about RR was that all of the soundtrack is later replaced by ambiance. I don't really mind the ambiance tracks, but I'd like the option to relisten to those awesome tracks again, like they do in probably most other versions, you know? I love Rayman music.
I feel the same way, and this is the main reason why i don't consider this version as "Rayman 2" but some different game completely. Hmmm...If I were to rank all the versions of Rayman 2, I would put either Dreamcast or PC (this can be changed I still have to play Dreamcast version) on top.PluMGMK wrote:Even if I don't consider Revolution's version of the story canon
Re: Rayman 2
Don't get me wrong though, Revolution is a great game but I feel like there's far too many glitches. The amount of times cages made no noise, the constant looping flying sound, the game just freezing and me having to hit reset etc. I honestly think they could have made it run better too if you compare the framerate of Rayman 3 and Revolution on PS2. Rayman 3 is so fluid.

Re: Rayman 2
I think BG&E does the same thing with the music and yeah, it's regrettable…

Re: Rayman 2
Hm, really? I guess I need to play BG&E again to check the music tracks, I completed the game so fast the last time, and with 100% too! (Well maybe), that I pretty much paid almost no attention to which tracks played where.PluMGMK wrote:I think BG&E does the same thing with the music and yeah, it's regrettable…

Probably only on PS2 it happens

Re: Rayman 2
RR is definitely the only version that replaces music, and that's the main reason I don't like it as much as the Dreamcast or even the PC versions. The story is nice, but makes me feel like this some alternate reality of Rayman 2. Well technically only the US even bothers to even mention the number 2, as most other regions simply call it, Rayman Revolution.
Re: Rayman 2
Yeah and due to that fact I thought Rayman 2 wasn't on PS2
I wonder why it was never released on Xbox or GC especially with them being more powerful than the PS2.

Re: Rayman 2
PS2 is still better overall. GC only really excels in multiplayer games. XBOX I can't really put a description on since I don't really have one, to my chagrin.
There are more games that I want on the PS2 than on the XBOX, and quite possibly GC as well! If only they released Nintendo games on other consoles.....

Re: Rayman 2
The PS2 has the best game library IMO, but the Xbox is the better console also IMO. I still choose PS2 as my favourite due to nostalgia and the great game library but I like the actual Xbox console and controller more, even with the weird black and white button layout
GameCube though has Mario games and that's the biggest reason to like that
So basically if a game was on Xbox and PS2, I always preferred the Xbox version except a lot of games were PS2 exclusives. Splinter Cell is another game that looks amazing on Xbox. I honestly am not a big fan of the PS2 controller anymore but mine could be just faulty. The analog sticks are awful on mine and Rayman 3 is very hard to play due to it.

Re: Rayman 2
I guess that's how it goes. I'm not sure which games have been released on multiple consoles. As far as I know (which is not a lot), Nintendo games are exclusively Nintendo consoles/handhelds, Microsoft games mostly are XBox exclusive, and PS2...I dunno.
Shows how little I still know about consoles.

Re: Rayman 2
Well I know the GameCube and Xbox are literally more powerful than PS2 and came out later than it. I have nothing against any console though and I have them all. I even have a PS4 and Xbox One. Basically the PS2 is the weaker hardware but it's the most popular and most commonly owned console of the 3. Xbox is probably the least likely owned because everyone was PlayStation mad or else got a GameCube for Zelda or Mario. I really like the Xbox though especially how you can softmod it easily and have a completely custom setup (dashboard) on it. Rayman Revolution would have been great on Xbox

Yes it would have been! It brings up the question now...why didn't they?
